Novel Recommendations: "The Sick Beauty Marries a Fellow Townsman Who Transmigrated into a Book" and "After Becoming the Protagonist’s Inner Demon"
Darlings! The mire that is writing my thesis made me opt for distractions 😅. So I'm sharing two novels I read online that I found absolutely delightful.
The first is "The Sick Beauty Marries a Fellow Townsman Who Transmigrated into a Book". A double transmigration story were the couple are both transmigrators to a book where one was transferred earlier and didn't know about that book and the other later and read the book. So a bit of spoiler warning ⚠️ a head darlings.
So a historical ancient china setting. The MC Shen ZiQin transmigrates as a background character sickly mistreated and shipped off to get married to our ML Chu Zhao who transmigrated earlier as a unfavored prince with military achievements but because of his insane emperor father he and his prince brothers work in the shadows until one of them can ascend the thrown.
I kid you not that they match each other's freak so well that everyone just agrees they're match made in heaven whether in temperament, intellect or in looks. Both hit it off so well like they were best friends since childhood. The funny thing is they both just want to leave everything behind and be lazy salted fishes together which is even better 😃.
The misunderstandings are vast but the angst is quite minimal only when alluding to ML's earlier time experiencing war and hardships in court accepting himself as a citizen of that world. The misunderstandings are used as a comedic tool and done very well. Even the revelation of their transmigrator status was lowkey but handled in well-humor. They both tried so hard to get each other to confess when they thought the other was in love with them instead they fell themselves 😂😂😂
The political conflicts are a nice background and paced real well the pay off was satisfying. The supporting characters like the princes, noble friends, officials and retainers were all likeable and there some self-inserty type characters like the MC's personal attendant who liked to watch his masters get intimate, giving advice and trying to get them to spend more time with each other 😆🤭 etc. you'll have to read more to get to know them. The protagonist of the book is worth our MC's admiration and they're great friends. The extra chapters are also sweet the dear author thought a lot about the what-ifs.
The other one is "After Becoming the Protagonist’s Inner Demon". This one is a bit of system tries to correct the world by bringing in a transmigrator type of shit. I enjoyed the starting parts quite a bit. When you thought the story was going in one direction it comes in unexpected ways. This time the system is quite helpful but more of a background tool to our MC Xiao Mo who was given the role of inner demon. Some cliches but the couple makes up for it even if the author wanted to torment them a little late like 3/4ths the way into the story but healing arc was interesting and heartfelt.
So more spoiler warning ⚠️ ahead.
I really enjoyed the earlier parts of the story where MC tries to get into his role of inner demon but didn't have the heart for it and the cold ML genius type Chu Jinglan was slowly becoming fond of the strange inner demon that did not act like an inner demon. When ML was crippled he became reliant on MC since MC gained a power boost from the event. They're journey of healing was really satisfying there were hardships but less downs when their teamwork was flawless. They made sincere friends and took in adorable disciples/wards although I wish they had a bit more of a role in the story but they still were excellent supporting characters who admired them and worried for them in their worst days.
The bullshit happens a little later when MC and ML separate for 300 years with MC only gone less than a day and ML suffering the loss of his love for 300 years. I guess dear author wanted another healing arc. Why it happens was unnecessary but the resolution wasn't bad an enjoyable read. I guess MC and ML couldn't have physical intimacy with one being a spirit body so he did need to be reborn like every other danmei protagonist I guess they did have that soul orgasm thing, they even had dual cultivation in sea of consciousness no physical body needed! I guess MC wouldn't be able to last since one soul dual cultivation was so intense it made him never want to do it again except ML does want to do it again 😂😂😂. I genuinely liked the dynamics they developed as inner demon and host.
The villain of the story was the original protagonist shou at least he was the only brain dead character who got lucky that he managed to last long enough to accumulate power and try to challenge our MC and ML. Author gave quite logical fill ins for the original story for how things happened filling in plot holes of the original story but it get a little convoluted with the whole initial timeline reset. It's similar to Mistakenly saving the villain but less to do with other realms and just focuses on this cultivation world and system isn't a villain but more of an assistant tool.
What sold it for me were the couples. And I hope they get a physical book in the future.
Give these a try darlings and tell me what you think 😉.
Edit: I don't know how I missed this but I just noticed that these two are from the same author 😂. Dear author also has a third book out there I look forward to binge reading as well.
