Sew the darts on the two Blorbo body pieces
Sew the two Blorbo body pieces to each other, right sides together (sew the curved edge, and leave the straight line at the bottom unsewn)
Sew the Blorbo body base to the bottom of the Blorbo body pieces (pin it well, with the front roughly in line with the dart on the front half of the body; this does not have to be precise, Blorbo can be a little irregularly shaped, it’s fine). Leave an opening for turning of a few inches left unsewn, turn the body right side out
Put two leg pieces right sides together and sew the side seams (leave the top, where it attaches to the body, and the bottom, where it will attach to the foot, unsewn). Repeat with the second leg.
Pin a foot piece to the bottom of a leg, with the front of the foot roughly lined up with the seam at the front of the foot. Sew around (this can be a little tricky, it might be easier to hand sew than to machine sew this part). Repeat with second leg and foot. Turn legs right side out through the opening at the top of the leg
Finishing:
Embroider the face, either before step 2 or after step 3
Stuff the body at any point after step 3, after embroidering the face
Sew the opening for turning in the body closed
Stuff the legs after step 5. Tuck the seam allowance at the top inside the leg; I ended up tucking about ½” of fabric in instead of ¼” to make the leg a bit shorter, but if you are using an extra fluffy fabric you might want it closer to the ¼”
Pin the legs in place on the front of Blorbo and ladder stitch around the base of the leg

I got sidetracked again because there’s a ufo-themed craft fair thing coming up in the near-ish future near-ish to me and I cannot resist a theme so I’m giving myself two days to make a bunch of little aliens
double sided arrows show the stretch of the fabric, single sided arrow shows the nap of the fabric (if you are using minky, faux fur, or anything like that)
Cutting instructions:
cut out two head pieces, two body pieces, and four eye pieces (two reversed) if using fabric eyes. Add a seam allowance!
alternatively, trace the head, body, and eye patterns onto fabric folded double and don't cut them out yet. Instead, pin them in place
sew around the head, leaving an opening for turning at the top
sew around the body, leaving the neck area unsewn
sew both eyes (you don't need to leave an opening for turning)
cut the pieces out, if you have not done so already, and turn them all right side out. For the eyes, that will mean cutting a small hole into the back side of the eye so you can turn them right side out
Add stuffing, and then sew closed the openings for turning in the head and body. Make sure you add a little bit of stuffing to the eyes too
Experiment with how far up the back of the head you want the neck to be, then pin it in place and sew the head to the body.
Experiment with eye placement, then pin the eyes in place and sew them on
Basic bat and ghost: Solid lines are outer seams, dotted lines are top stitching lines (sewn after you turn the plushie right side out), no seam allowance is included in the pattern
- cut out your bat (or ghost) along the solid lines (ignore the dotted lines for now)
- trace onto the wrong side of the fabric you are using for the plushie
cut out the fabric, leaving at least 1/4" seam allowance, but the seam allowance does not have to be exact
- put the fabric you traced the pattern onto on top of another piece of fabric, right sides together, with the nap and stretch of both fabrics going in the same direction, and pin or clip together
-sew along solid lines, leaving an opening for turning as marked in the pattern
- for the bat: turn right side out. top stitch the base of the ears and between the body and the wing that does not have the opening for turning. Add safety eyes (if using) and as much stuffing as you want to add to the head and body, then top stitch the line between the second wing and the body. Top stitch between the head and body as well, then sew closed the opening for turning and your bat is complete!
- for the ghost: turn right side out. Add some stuffing to both arms, then top stitch between the arms and the body to differentiate them. Add safety eyes, if using. Stuff the main part of the ghost, then sew closed the opening for turning and your ghost is complete!
Meet my latest sewing pattern: Fred, the Fish of Minimal Effort!
I thought about picking a type of fish to try to make specifically and doing some research to be able to make it recognizable and then I thought…why not no research and a Generic Fish instead?
Fred the Fish exists because he has almost no hand sewing and I did not want to hand sew today. He is green because that was the fabric that was sitting next to me lol his name is well earned

Edit: I just checked and apparently I did not actually topstitch any lines on the top fin, bottom fin, or side fins. The only topstitching I did was to differentiate the body and the fins, and on the tail fin, so it’s an even easier pattern than I thought
