itâs The Boyâs day!!!!!!!!! HECK!!!!!!
Something's happening here between these two...đ
Toph is highly emotionally intelligent but a lot of people donât see it because we tend to associate empathy with femininity and Toph is an unfeminine girl who is unapologetic about who she is and what she wants and a lot of people will look at those types of characters and go âunfeeling murder child.â
I mean, she gives advice to Iroh about his relationship with Zuko, despite never having met zuko and despite Iroh being one of the wisest characters in the series who usually gives advice to others.
She cares deeply about her parents, despite knowing that they donât understand her, and tries to live up to what they want from her and doesnât want to worry them. WIth the money she was making in the earth rumble, she actually could have left on her own, but she obviously loves them and even after she runs away, she worries about causing them pain.
She was gutted when she couldnât save Appa, and Aang accuses her of not caring but thatâs clearly not true at all. She holds herself accountable for not being able to save everyone and spent most of that episode blaming herself for him getting taken.
She makes an effort to enjoy the spa day with Katara even though it wasnât what she wanted to do because Katara is her friend and that was what Katara wanted to do.
She takes a âtough loveâ approach to teaching Aang earthbending but also tries to build up his confidence and is super excited for him when he finally gets it.
Her face when Iroh is hurt
and Jet
The way that she quickly forms emotional bonds with every single member of the gaang and gives them ridiculous affectionate nicknames.
âDo you really think friendships can last more than one lifetime?â
The way that she is the first one to believe in Zukoâs sincerity and defends him multiple times to the gaang even though he burned her because she knows it was an accident.
The way that she comforts Zuko and reassures him that Iroh still cares about him.
The way that she does rely on Katara as a motherly figure but also reassures Katara that she can still be a kid, too.
The way that she clings to Sokka, the guy who wants to be needed and feels like he needs to be the protector of this group of kids, but also has playful banter with him and can rival him for sarcasm.
The way that she gave up her comfortable life to join a fight that she wasnât even involved in because other people needed her.
Yes, she can be rude and crude (and often does so on purpose), but she also deeply cares about people and forms strong bonds with every member of the gaang. She also has a deep understanding of other people that goes beyond just being able to detect when theyâre lying through earthbending. She is really good at assessing peopleâs flaws and strengths. She sees no problem with cheating a cheater or pummeling some jerks into the dirt, and ignores stuffy social conventions if she sees no value in them, but that doesnât mean she doesnât have morals and doesnât care about people.
When Azula succeeds in wasting their time during the eclipse Sokka starts blaming himself and Top immediately and very calmy says its not his fault, that Azula was ready for them and they should now focus on getting back to their friends and helping.
The thing about comments
There are a lot of âyay comments!â and âplease leave more comments!â posts going around tumblr. Well Iâm going to add one more.
I get comment anxiety. Some people leave these detailed amazing comments. Some commenters are more eloquent in that comment box than the writer is in the fic itself.
Itâs easy to look at that and say âI couldnât possibly top thatâ or âwhat can I say that hasnât been said better alreadyâ and⊠I know that feel. I feel it every time I post a fic OR a comment.
But you know what? Much like fic is put out there for free (excepting the mental and emotional price paid by the writer) and remains to provide joy again and again as many times as you can read it, comments are the same.
I read comments. I REREAD comments. When Iâm having a shit day, usually I reread fic, yes, but I also reread comments.
Knowing someone out there enjoyed something enough to tell me is a huge boost. You all make my life better in all the ways I hope Iâm doing the same for you.
(and this should go without saying, but writers reread and internalize the negative comments as well, so unless you are trying to ruin someoneâs day keep that in mind. And if you are trying to spoil someoneâs day? Congratulations youâre an asshole.)
yâall⊠u dont understand how much writing in the tags of someoneâs creation means to them.. whether itâs fanart, a graphic, fanfic..,, thereâs a 99% chance that person looks through their tags and a single opinionated comment in the tags can rlly brighten their day itâs just a rlly wonderful thing to see
I donât need luck, though. I donât want it. Iâve always had to struggle and fight, and thatâs made me strong. Thatâs made me who I am.

When Shirayuki inherited a cottage and moved to a small, tropical island, her life as an artist has improved much, until she decided to rent out one of her rooms.
(Read on AO3)
I knew I loved you then, but youâd never know, âcause I played it cool when I was scared of letting go. <âŠ> When you looked over your shoulder, for a minute, I forget that Iâm older⊠<âŠ> Just say you wonât let go, Oh, just say you wonât let go. [James Arthur]
Can you do something for me, please?
I want you to reblog this if you believe that two people can be very close and physically affectionate with one another, but still have a completely nonsexual, non-romantic relationship.Â
Even if the two people in question are capable of being sexually or romantically attracted to one another.Â
Because the friendship I share with someone I consider family in a way that transcends blood has been typecast as a romantic relationship ENTIRELY too many times, and Iâm beginning to get sick of it.Â
Iâll never pass up the opportunity to support deep platonic relationships
@pocketfullaflowers
Firmly in the category âI and those I consider my closest friends enjoy platonic snuggles, physical affection, and âI love youââs, and we get constantly mistaken for a couple when we are togetherâ
look, âbest friends to loversâ is my relationship kryptonite. I eat this kind of stuff up with a spoon and cannot get enough of it. And I STILL very firm believe that two people can be literal soul mate bests in the entire world and NOT have romantic feelings for each other. And NEVER develop those feelings. And their relationship can be lacking absolutely nothing in being exactly that way. Saying otherwise is denying everything that is the basis of that kind of friendship to start with.
Repeat after me: - Veganism is not affordable - Veganism is not cruelty free - Veganism is not the best choice for everyone
Repeat after me -Iâm an idiot and wrong. -Veganism can be made affordable. -Veganism is fucking cruelty free. Thatâs what itâs all about. - Veganism is the best choice for everyone, if everyone did it. -Iâm a fucking asshole for making this completely wrong text post and should shut the hell up now.
Exploiting undocumented immigrants, and other workers is cruelty free? Nearly 500,000 children as young as six harvest 25 percent of US crops.
But I guess brown people donât fucking matter.Â
People are literally starving in South America because all the Quinoa crop is being exported mainly for white vegans who want to live âcruelty-freeâ but donât care about brown people as much as they do about animals.
plus, 4 of the 8 most common food allergies (soy, wheat, peanuts, and tree nuts) are common vegan substitutes.
i would literally starve to death if i couldnât eat cheese or meats because my body cannot process nuts as they are too rough on my intestines and cause inflammation
Veganism is incredibly expensive depending on where you live, mostly if there are no local farms near you. Plant food prices skyrocket, and food deserts exist. Veganism is not even close to cruelty free. You cannot be cruelty free in this country (USA) unless you 100% grow your own food because we use slave labor to pick it. Plus this doesnât factor in all the harm being caused by the transport of your food, by the truck that carried it around. Veganism is not the best choice for everyone, because some people cannot survive off of a plant based diet. I had tried for a good while, and my chronic illnesses spiked from it. Plus the constant monitoring to make sure I was receiving adequate nutrients triggered my ED to hell and back. Veganism is a great way to start lowering your negative effect on the planet, but that is all it is, a starting place. Your work is not done just because you became vegan and you do not get to throw stones at others because you still live in a glass house. Furthermore - it is absolutely possible to lower your footprint while still consuming animal products - you just have to be selective about what kinds and where they are sourced from. I have a permaculture based garden planned out for when we get land that actually has a smaller footprint than the typical vegan who buys everything at a store does.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Actually, none of us can survive on a plant-based diet. We cannot manufacture B12, and the so-called âplant-basedâ sources of B12, it turns out, donât produce it in a form we can digest.
B12 is found in all animal products.
Additionally, although humans can manufacture taurine (only found in meat), not all of us can manufacture enough taurine. This is why some people get sick when they go vegetarian.
To survive on a vegan diet you need to artificially supplement B12 and possibly taurine. Period.
A diet that requires artificial supplementation is, by definition, unhealthy. And while the cost of vegan B12 supplements is low, when youâre already paying more for your food⊠Taurine supplementation, if you happen to be one of the people who needs it, is another added expense and hassle. A few vegans have also found it necessary to supplement carnitine, which is considerably more expensive. Oh, and most vegans donât get enough calcium and end up with bone problems. Many are also Vitamin D deficient, especially if living at high latitudes, if dark skinned, or if religiously using sunscreen. And Vitamin D2 (plant derived) is not as easily absorbed as D3 (which ONLY comes from animals), so you need even more of it.
Then thereâs protein.
I personally cannot properly digest nuts. I react the way lactose intolerant people do to milk if I consume pistachios, walnuts, or pecans. Almonds are actively toxic to me. Hazelnuts mess with my brain.
Because I am on thyroid medication, I am not supposed to consume large quantities of soy, as it can make my thyroid worse, throwing off my dosage. I can have some, but I cannot use it as a major protein source. This is also true for trans men (the phytoestrogens intefere with testosterone therapy), cis men with low testosterone (same reason) and women with a family history of breast cancer (elevates risk). Excessive soy consumption has also been linked to early puberty in girls (Again, phytoestrogens) and reproductive/sexual problems in both sexes. Eating a bit of soy is fine, but tofu should not be used as a meat substitute except for the occasional meal.
This limits my access to non-animal proteins to beans and grains. If I was gluten intolerant as well (Iâm not, but itâs in my family), it would be a real problem. The only dairy substitute available to me is rice milk (and rice causes many of the same problems environmentally as raising beef).
Oh, but itâs better for the environment, right?
Nope.
In addition to the already-mentioned quinoa, weâre cutting down rain forest in Mexico to grow avocados. Rice production is almost as bad for the environment as factory-based beef production for similar reasons. Also, plant-based foods, esp. fruit and fresh vegetables, are more likely to end up being wasted.
Studies indicate that if we all gave up meat tomorrow, all 7 billion of us gave up animal products forever, the good side would be the reduction in antibiotic use and greenhouse gas emissions.
How about the bad side?
1.3 billion people would lose their jobs overnight. 1.3 billion. 987 of them are poor.
Another thing that Ban Eating Meat Tomorrow types forget is that veganism is not necessarily the most effective use of farmland.
Uh, what?
The statement that if everyone switched to a vegan diet we would need a fraction of our current farmland assumes all farmland is created equal.
It simply is not.
I suspect that a lot of this perspective either comes from city dwellers who have no clue about farming or from people in the US breadbasket where there is a lot of high quality farmland suitable for raising food for humans.
The last global census in 2008 said that at that time, if all 6 billion people went vegan, it would need 3,068,444,911 acres of arable land. At the time there was about 3,212,369,959 acres of arable land: That is to say land suitable for raising crops humans can eat.
However, weâre building on, or otherwise destroying, arable land at the rate of about 1% a year and the population has grown.
We literally do not have enough arable land to feed everyone a plant-based diet.
And there are parts of the world that have a worse proportion of arable land to land only suitable for pasture than the US. Scotland comes immediately to mind. People in these places would have to import most of their food. Iâm not sure Iceland could survive without eating fish.
If we all gave up eating meat tomorrow many of us would starve. Iâm not exaggerating or being alarmist.
Iâm also not criticizing people who choose not to eat animal products (just please make sure you get the required nutrients).
I am criticizing the âI donât eat animal products and nobody else should eitherâ crowd. Because itâs not that simple.
Also, bluntly, vitamin B12 deficiency can cause mood disturbances and paranoiaâŠ
But again, if you have to consume artificial supplements for whatever reason (unless itâs a personal absorption issue) your diet is not healthy.
Sorry, itâs just not.
Reblogging again for added info
Vegan leather is plastic
Vegan fur is plastic
Vegan wool is polyester, which is plastic
Leather, wool and fur are biodegradable. Plastics are overall worse for the environment and donât go away for hundreds of years.
Vegan leather also leaches toxic chemicals when exposed to sunlight/heat and has a shorter lifespan than regular leather
If you want to go vegetarian or vegan or just reduce the amount of animal products you use, I will absolutely support you. If you cannot stand the idea of eating an animal for personal reasons, I will support you. Reduce harm where and how you can. Heck, if me eating a burger while weâre at lunch together upsets you, I can work with that too.
I will not tolerate or support blanket statements about how other people should eat or you imposing your morality on other peopleâs diet. Itâs like religion. You do you, make peace and joy with your own life. Just donât spill over onto other people. Youâre not better than anyone else in this chaotic mess of an existence.
Thereâs no opting out of being part of this planet and its ecosystems, however much some people want to think theyâre above it. There is no untouched Eden to return to. It never existed.
