Men and young boys are often bullied and harassed for not having or wanting sex, because “real men” are supposed to be able to get as many chicks as possible.

Babies are being murdered in the name of “bodily autonomy.” Several women are being pressured into getting abortions they don’t want by pushy boyfriends and husbands who don’t want to deal with the responsibility of being a parent, and many other women are being taught that abortion is the only option for when an accidental pregnancy arises. In contrast, there are also many men who will never get to meet their wanted children, because the women they had sex with went behind their backs to erase the situation.

Instead of educating young people about the risks of unsafe sexual activity, society taught them that the “need” to have sex as much possible should take top priority over everything else. Not only does this mean that taking responsibility for your choices—figuring out a safe future for another human being instead of getting an abortion, for example—is discouraged, but it also means that people have begun to see sex as a completely self-serving act in relation to how they treat their partners.

Sex was never meant to be seen and treated as such a flippant thing, and we need to go back to taking the concept seriously.

He didn’t do it to see her nipples. He did it because he wants everyone he works with to be a fucking method actor rather they want to or not because he’s obsessed with detail. You recall Leo Dicaprio was in that water too, right? You recall that a whole great bunch of men, women, and children who were extras were in that water too, right? Not to mention the water wasn’t just cold enough to make her sick but to cover her in bruises so extensive the make up team took pictures to document them. You realise he’s done shit like this to actors on several other films. Ed Harris punched James Cameron in the face on the set of The Abyss after he ran out of oxygen, gave the signal for it, Camera kept filming, and Harris nearly drowned. Cameron’s reason for it was that he wanted Harris’s panic to be “real”.

There have been a few “get the real reaction” directors out there who’ve nearly killed or severely traumatized actors

hitchcock with tippi hedren - throwing live frightened birds at her when she expected mechanical ones. Her eye was narrowly missed & she broke down on set. Doctors ordered her a weeks rest. In their next film, he began sexually harassing her & when she refused & demanded to be released from her contract he tried guilttripping her about supporting her family & threatened to ruin her career. He began calling her a fat pig on set. He referred to her as property & paid her next to nothing until selling her contract.

Stanely kubrick traumatized shelley duvall during the shining (constant arguments about the script, acting technique & more) that she became physically ill for months & her hair began falling out. They redid take after take of scenes that required her to be in emotional turmoil - she recounts it as being in tears for 12hrs a day, 5-6 days a week, for 9 months. Unknown how much this attributed to it, she disappeared from public life in the 2000s before showing up on Dr Phil in serious need of professional mental heath care. (Even jack nicholson was stressed and frustrated over the constant & at times multiple times a day script changes, though idk if he was as affected & argued with the way duvall was)

Last Tango in Paris features a r*pe scene between marlon brando and maria Schneider involving a stick of butter and striking the actress across the face. Director bernardo bertolucci & brando told her about it right before filming as it wasnt in the script. Bertolucci in 2013 admitted he told her about the butter last minute because he wanted her to ‘feel, not act’ and wanted the humiliation, anger, and tears to be real. Schneider says the aftermath of the film made her ‘a little crazy’ and she had a breakdown which included drug abuse and a suicide attempt. The director claimed to feel guilty but didnt regret not telling her how the scene would play out becuae he believed humiliating her was the only way to get the reaction he wanted & also used her age (19) and inexperience (in acting & life) & withheld details to get a more authentic performance. He maintains that the r*pe itself was in the script, it was the butter that was decided last minute and sprung on her.

Tarantino genuinely strangled diane kreuger himself in Inglorious Basterds because he felt christoph waltz wouldnt be up to the task & he was never convinced by fake strangulation (because their faces dont turn the right color & veins dont pop out). Kreuger defended his actions saying he didnt abuse his power or force her to do anything she wasnt comfortable with. Uma Thurman was forced to drive a car in kill bill that was deemed unsafe and she crashed into a tree gaining injuries shes never fully recovered from. I’m not trying to normlize Cameron, but show that there are many iconic movies & directors that have some really shitty behind the scenes (eapecially for women) for the sake of art & a real performance and none of it is okay. These are just the ones i remembered off the top of my head (and re-researched for specific details for this post)
