I see iQIYIs mid year survey is still up until 16 July
If you log onto iQIYI and the survey pops up don't dismiss it. Take a couple of minutes to fill it in
I absolutely criticised the hell out of the subs, especially their original content subs.
Subs are a big issue so make sure to feedback. The more people complain the most likely they are to do something
Another thing I love about Knot is the weird bond Phatsa already has with Nakhun. Like, he’s resisting this fate as much as he can—refuses physical stuff, states his misery at being trapped, tries to stay out longer, won’t let people label them partners, resents/blames him for biting him.
But there’s a softness to his resistance, like the bonding is already happening almost without him noticing. He needs to be physically close (sitting together, hugging etc), he speaks gently when talking about his unhappiness, he calms Nakhun with a touch whenever his dad pisses him off, he doesn’t like thinking he’s mad about the car argument, he comes home immediately when Nakhun calls instead of sending someone.
I just think Oat is playing that contrast beautifully in his performance.
The mechanics of the plot and direction are clunky at times but the characterization and world building are fascinating.
The problem with *some BL office dramas is they seem to think that I care about their business success.
Like let me give some examples:
We Best Love: Fighting Mr. 2nd knew how much I as an audience member cared about both the company our boys worked for and the project they were working on. How much? Not much. Except when it relates to their romance. Zhou Shu Yi having to work with Gao Shi De again because he works for his dad's company and they're doing a merger. Classic forced proximity. Love it.
This is the shit I wanna see. Their romance. The company could crash and burn for all I care. All I know about their work is that they are in an office and making some kind of software. That's it.
Here's another example. Cherry Magic! They work somewhere that make pens and stationary. Sometimes they have to do lots of unexplained paperwork. Do I care about the details surrounding the pen company paperwork? No. I don't. They know this and respect my time by not having a character spend an episode walking me through the pen company audit paperwork.
When a character has a big project, it is brief and has a clear connection to the romance arc. In season 1 and 2, work project moments just create big "reasons we cannot be together" crisis moments to be overcome.
*Step By Step, on the other hand, forced me to sit through employee training sessions and about one full length boardroom meetings per episode about products and marketing campaigns. I felt as bored watching those scenes as I would have if I was actually a member of a marketing team sitting in on a meeting that could have been an email.
Apart from the meeting where they first decide to use Put, there's no clear romantic drama or stakes in many of those scenes. It's literally just business. I do not care about Forge, they were just a client, and yet that client's name is now burned into my brain. I do not care about Olive and Pearl (?) or how their karaoke night marketing is gonna be amazing because look we got Put in it again. In fact, get that guy out of my face! All I care about is our main characters and their romance. And yet I must sit through board meeting after board meeting after...

KNOT THE SERIES DO NOT MAKE ME TAP THE SIGN
As I said when the pilot for Knot show first came out: THE WORST THIS SHOW CAN BE IS BORING
It's Phatsa and his pair of gigantic shorts against the world
Ep 3
[tears in eyes] "thats my hot terrifying wife"
Nakhun and Phatsa’s entire relationship thus far:
Nakhun: I can give you whatever you want. Money is no object. Do you want a car? To travel? Clothes? Jewels? Power? Tell me, what does your heart desire?
Phatsa: A task.
This episode has been brought to you by the giant sweat stain on Nakhun’s back after Phatsa was bleeding in the warehouse
With all the ascots and scarves Nakhun’s dad wears, I really thought it was gonna end up that *he* was the omega and that he was hiding a mating bite. I think I just wanted see the mom be the real mastermind behind the whole business.
Holly shit are the shitty subs on IQIYI over?! Can all those brave soldiers (me) who fought so bravely to understand what is going on at any point in this show finally return home to their families to rest?
Btw. If you're a teacher and you catch one of your students (kids, tweens, teens) using AI for the first time, please be gentle with them.
Last week i was looking into one of my teen's homework when I noticed she was writing words she "wasn't supposed to know" in english (like "furthermore", for example. They only know very intermediary english) I got a bit mad for a second. I wear an "anti-AI" button all the time, i even told them before why i was anti-AI, yet she didn't listen to me and thought she could get away with it... But i decided to keep it cool because i didn't know why she would do this, since she never did.
Okay, one week after, this Wednesday, it was time for their class again and, when she arrived, i told her to come to my desk and asked her: "what is furthermore?" She went pale when she noticed the paper in my hands. I asked again: "darling, what is furthermore?" Then, she shuttered: "I don't know, teacher. I'm sorry, I had to ask Gemini because I had no time..." then I sat her down, she was clearly upset (she is just 13) and I asked her what happened. "I didn't have any time left because of my exams and there were too many units to go through. So I asked my mom to help me and she told me to use ChatGPT but I asked google instead." Okay. So I looked into her eyes and told her it was okay, that she didn't need to be upset, but she would have to re-do that paper and bring it back to me by the next week. I told her she didn't need google or gpt to do her work, because she got a very high score at her english exam (both at school and at the course). She got right back on her feet and we started class as normal.
The only reason why I'm telling you this is because I hate AI. I hate it SO much. But, as a teacher now, I hate ANYTHING that takes the learning process away from kids. I hate the GLOSSARY in my kids' books as well for the same reason bc they don't want to figure the words out with me, they want to check the answer as fast as they can to get rid of that boring thing and I don't blame them for wanting to get rid of the boring task! But I blame ADULTS for allowing the kids to go the fast way, when they need the slow process to learn something! Her MOM told her to use ChatGPT to ace her homework. You know, the person PAYING the course bills so her daughter can learn english at an early age doesn't care about her learning process. But I do. I care. And you should care too. It's not my student's fault, it's about the learned helplessness, it's about wanting to be the fastest, it's about the knowledge scrapping, the way nobody cares anymore. And the kids are being affected by parents who don't care anymore. They're byproducts of this. So please, when teaching them why AI is bad, be gentle. It's not their fault the world around them is teaching them how to be dumb in a smart, sneaky way.
Someone pointed out the issue here is ALSO the educational system failing my student because of the amount of stuff they have to do (like at school and at the course) and yes!!! You're very right, this is part of the issue. That's why I sent her home with the homework again and without any punishments, because her finals week is over and she has more time to think for herself now! Forgot to add this in the original post. Otherwise I would schedule an hour with her in here just so we could go through her homework together :)
If Phantsa is not pregnant by the end of this show I will cry and, frankly, if he's not pregnant by the middle of the show I might cry anyway.
I do have other options available that would enable me to watch Knot the series with way more comprehensible subtitles but I will not be doing that because good subtitles doesn't feel authentic to the spirit of the show.
These are the subtitles I need. This feels right.
RED ALERT: BABY OMEGA HAS DISCOVERED SLICK
