Cage the Elephant // trouble
It’s so hard to explain my anxiety to anyone but here is me trying.
Everything is fine then all a sudden every sound seems to be 1.5 times faster than normal, every movement is sped up. It’s like the world is on fast forward around me and I’m stuck in normal speed. My heart races like I’m about to come across the most terrifying moment of my life. My whole body starts to shake, I’m scared. I’m really scared but I don’t know what of. If I have any noise on anywhere it makes it worse but the silence is deafening. I can’t win, I remind myself everything’s okay all the while I know I’m lying so it doesn’t make a difference. So I just lay down and wait for it to pass because there’s nothing else I can do. I can’t live during it, no that’s impossible I have to stop my entire life for however long this anxiety attack wants to last then I get to resume but all the while I’m miserable.
There is no coming to consciousness without pain. People will do anything, no matter how absurd, in order to avoid facing their own soul. One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.
