I have so little respect. I won't buy it for a single second that they didn't understand the choices they had in that moment, and made their fucking choice.
Just pit Lewis first then Charles next lap. It would still have Charles be on P2 and still have both your cars have fresh tyres. That's the neutral choice. There's nothing "don't have much control over" about what was decided.
i cant believe i've seen people defend ferrari for pitting charles behind and making him serve a penalty that isnt his. like this was straight out of the papaya rulebook and everyone was clowning them last year. how am i supposed to take f1 fans seriously, they're all a joke
sorry i keep circling back to this but it's kind of batshit insane that charles has been actively driving with no brakes for three weekends now and somehow still respectfully getting results and thought it was just on him to get better then we come to monaco and he now knows from the minute he stepped on track that this is not on him because monaco is his track and he can be fast there with a fucking cadillac
and somehow he persists, almost gets pole, but qualifies p4 and gets to the race and cuts down a 10 second gap to his teammate then gets an obligatory double penalty papaya rules style then a safety car happens and the brakes simply stop working they're not inconsistent anymore no they're just not here as in he presses on the pedals and the pedals don't do anything and he goes into the wall at 40 km/h and he's so angry he does the unthinkable of publicly not blaming himself and pointing fingers at the brakes i mean he's got his confirmation loud and clear it is the god damn brakes
only for brembo fucking brakes to release the most disrespectful statement i have ever read which consequently lead us to find out that his teammate has been using different brakes the past four weekends
what even the fuck goes in the ferrari house of horrors
im just slightly worried he carries this lack of confidence into monaco, I mean it's not like charles to get so in his own head, so I'm praying it's something he can just, brush off over this track, we need something good, it's just been unbearable weekends way too spaced out.
you were definitely right in saying it's not like him to be in his head but hey turns out he was in his head for a good reason since his brakes are shit and keep putting him in danger š i hate that they tried to push this narrative that he wasn't confident and made it sound like it wasn't justified when there was a very real cause behind his lack of confidence and feeling in the car
even though iām furious about this whole brake situation, i think itās important to highlight how much this news reframes the results of the last races. for all of his lack of confidence and feeling with the car, charles has been impressive. can you imagine driving around tracks at 350 km/h with inconsistent brakes that keep turning on and off and still managing to keep up with your teammate who has different brakes that actually do their job? can you imagine having to drive an undriveable car not knowing what to expect from one lap to another because of said inconsistent brakes? can you imagine having to face all of this and still having to manage your teamās bad pit stops (sorry it has to be said but the last few races havenāt been great there) and awful strategies (how many double stacks will they make him go through)? can you imagine dealing with all of that and still being in contention for pole and a podium in monaco until the brakes decide to give up altogether?
this whole situation about charles and brakes pisses me off so much because charlesā braking style is one of the most characteristic things of his driving and not only was he finding it hard at the beginning because of the new regs and the whole battery deployment thing not being entirely dependent on the driver but now his brakes are also actively. not working. like. it has always been such a talking point about his driving style people who analyse it never fail to point out how his technique is something they donāt really see and something others have tried to replicate and failed at it and itās just so frustrating that he canāt even trust the car to do that anymore
he said that the only solution mid race was to just not brake in the final corner in his interview so like you all can get fucked starting right w you brembo fucking brakes or whatever the fuck you are called
int: charles, thereās a lot of disappointment. you blamed the brakes on the radio but now weāre seeing some problems with the tarmac. what caused the crash?
i had seen the issue with tarmac a few laps before the crash: i went over it on the outside and i realized there was no grip but that wasnāt the issue. the data confirmed what the issue is. iām not the type of person to find excuses, iām the first person not the be ashamed when i screw up and push too much but i donāt have any words. i donāt really want to talk because iām afraid of being too harsh. itās been a problem the last two races. again, we have a solution, lewis went in that direction three or four races ago. i donā donāe. today i set four or five brake bars - iām not sure anyone will understand but it means i was barely touching the brakes. i couldnāt go any lower than that and the rear brakes simply didnāt work at all, only the front brakes did. itās been like this for two races now and unfortunately when the tires are cold you need to be even more precise. itās not that i donāt have any control itās that itās impossible to control anything. the brakes are on and off, on and off again. it's been a problem the last two races. again, we have a solution, lewis went in that direction three or four races ago. i don't think it made much of a difference on other tracks but it simply was undriveable for me today.
int: this must have all fueled your frustration, we also heard you on the radio regret the pitstop. what did you want to do, would you have preferred to keep your set of tires?
charles: yes, the tires were fine because i hadnāt pushed, they were good. i had hoped to keep that set and mostly i didnāt want to be penalized by waiting behind lewis because you canāt slow down in the pitlane as per what the FIA said before the race. i was too close behind lewis so i kind of had to slow down a bit anyway, i was scared to get a penalty. i donāt think it was the case in the end so thatās positive but to be completely honest thatās a small detail compared to the hell i went through in montreal and here. it will change in barcelona and i hope i will find the right feeling with the car but honestly today iām extremely frustrated, extremely angry and extremely sad overall because itās home. but today this anger is not directed at myself. itās hard.
what do you mean ferrari are using two different components from two different suppliers on each carās brakes and thatās why charles keeps complaining his brakes are fucked like what in the actual fuck is going on
now hold on if this news of hamilton reportedly using carbon industrie brakes since japan of this year is true
then the brembo fuck ass pr statement makes a whole lot of sense because holy shit lmfaaoooooooo that contract is being ripped to pieces as we speak
āhow was monaco?ā
there is no way a company that proudly celebrates its "50 year history" with "scuderia ferrari" can't differentiate between a driver saying something is wrong with the way they configure their brakes vs. brembo brakes are inherently shit
now both can be very true but the audacity to demand ferrari put a leash on charles leclerc of all people is genuinely astounding
what kind of fucking shameless institution is worried about pr instead of investigating why a driver has 3 of his 4 brakes fail after a safety car restart?
ferrari is a fucking prison. you have the mildest most valid crash out and the fucking brakes company pipes up. and then people complain charles is too pr, do you see how everyone tries to kill him when he even slightly steps out of their strictly defined line šš
the brakes didn't work [...] honestly, it's at a point where it's dangerous
hearing the italian anthem in monaco but itās not for charles winning in ferrari
