A classic Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich combines smoked beef, tangy sauerkraut, and a delectable dressing on toasted rye bread with a slice of Swiss cheese. Ideal for a quick lunch or dinner.
Instructions: Preheat the oven to 350F. In a large skillet, heat the sliced Montreal smoked meat over medium heat for 2-3 minutes, or until heated through. To make the dressing, combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, relish, and Worcestershire sauce in a small bowl. Toast the rye bread slices and spread the yellow mustard on each one. Add a slice of Swiss cheese, a generous portion of heated Montreal smoked meat, and a spoonful of sauerkraut to four slices of bread. Dress the sauerkraut with the dressing. Place the remaining slice of bread on top of each sandwich. Bake the sandwiches for 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the bread is crispy, on a baking sheet. Serve immediately and enjoy.
