LA PASSION DE JEANNE D’ARC 1928 | dir. Carl Theodor Dreyer
things about this movie that make me go clinically insane:
she’s so real. she’s terrified. she’s human. she cries.
watching falconetti portray jeanne’s story with her eyes in a way that is so compelling
the gut-wrenching devastation you feel watching her judges taunt her with mass and then the eucharist. there’s a lot of sad parts to this movie, but seeing her anguish over not being able to take communion just hits so hard.
her final request in death was for the crucifix to be held high enough to see it. for the prayers for her salvation to be said loud enough that she could hear them over the flames.
