not to be art snob guy but everyone knows that the Mona Lisa isn't the most valuable painting in the world cause he painted the woman so "beautiful" right. Like I just saw someone compare another painting (that was good!) but go this one should be celebrated as much as the Mona Lisa, look how beautiful it is- okay you know that's not why tho right.

Da Vinci stepped into a realm of anatomy and technique that no-one had ever done before. He Mastered light in a time where they were just painting the background and the subject the exact same focus.

What we understand about aperture, perspective, the human eye- Da Vinci was utilising before the scientific community even knew what a retina did. Do you understand how Crazy that is.

He invented a 3D stereoscopic picture in the 1500s. It would take two more centuries before physicists even arrived at the concept of stereography.

Do you understand how much math that is. A lot of fucking math man.

And I'm not even talking about colour or texture rn!!! He did it so we can't see the brushstrokes! It would require x-rays to view the work he did.

I just know sometimes people go oh why's this painting so special- it's very important to me that you know that the Mona Lisa was like an Atomic Bomb on the Renaissance art community. Almost EVERY piece of art you view today you could track it's influence back to what da Vinci did.

Like other art deserves its time in the spotlight, of course, but you know we didn't all gather around one day and go this lady is the prettiest this painting shall now be the Best. It's the most valuable painting in the world because..,. Well because it's the most valuable painting in the world.

if you’re trans and you have any level of background in STEM I do think you’ve got some level of duty to help preserve the information they’re working to destroy.

whether it be through traditional archival methods or by educating your people about HRT, how it works, what it does, what it doesn’t do, and risks associated, it’s becoming increasingly clear to anyone with an ear to the ground that nobody is coming to save us.

when myself and my peers were growing up, there was a noticeable absence of queer elders. 40 years ago it was AIDS. now it’s this. if you don’t work to preserve our science and our history, nobody else is going to do so either.

I’m begging you on behalf of our children, be they blood relatives or not. preserve yourselves. preserve the knowledge that got you here today. educate those who ask you earnestly.

Accidental trauma reveal my love. When friends or enemies unintentionally discover Whumpee’s tragic background. For instance

The classic nightmare scene. Whumpee has never slept with people close by for this very reason. Unfortunately, they don’t have a choice this time, and they do, in fact, scream (or cry) in their sleep, in front of someone/everyone.

The person behind the trauma suddenly reappearing in Whumpee’s life. Whumpee losing it—running away, hiding, refusing to engage with anyone. Or even better, trying so hard to pretend they’re okay until they just. Shatter.

Truth serums, spells, and items. Flippantly asking Villain, “Why do you keep doing this?” only to get a gut-wrenching answer in return.

The mind probe. Whumpee is sick/unconscious, and someone does the magical mind probe (I swear this comes up so much in media) to figure out what’s wrong and stumbles on Whumpee’s tragic past.

Teammates unknowingly triggering Whumpee for a while until Whumpee finally just screams it out. The looks of horror.

Also shout out to intentional trauma reveals. For trusting the found family enough to tell them the things that hurt the most.

Any other tropey goodness that results in Whumpee finally getting the comfort they deserve.
