No, you're not "too much."
Yes, you matter, even though you've been made to feel as if you don't.
Yes, it's frustrating navigating a world that wasn't set up for you, a world that doesn't care about you or honor your needs.
Yes, it's disheartening seeing everyone else seemingly sailing through life and having it all figured out.
Yes, you feel deeply, and you have a highly developed sense of justice.
Yes, you've been told "life isn't fair," and to just accept that life is going to suck, and that's frustrating, because you know it doesn't have to be this way.
Yes, you grew up in a world where hierarchy is what's considered normal.
Yes, you've been made to feel like you're broken, by people who just couldn't meet your needs, and weren't willing to even try. And that sucks.
Yes, it sometimes seems like the people around you are speaking a different language and living by rules that make no sense to you.
Yes, it's lonely when you don't fit in, when your very being seems to set off some kind of alarm bells in other people.
Yes, it's frustrating when you're doing everything you can to fit in and do what you're "supposed to," and no matter what you do or how you do it, you're doing it wrong.
Yes, it sucks that you're expected to meet their needs but they're not expected to even try to meet yours, or meet you in the middle somewhere. That you always have to be the one who needs to change, or to make sacrifices.
But no, you are not an alien (although sometimes it can feel that way.) You are not a superhuman. You are not the only one who has it all figured out. You are not the only one who's not broken. You are not uniquely evolved. And while you are not inferior to everyone else, you are not superior, either. You are enough, and it is enough to be enough. And you don't have to change, or to be someone different, or be above other people, in order to be enough. You are enough right here and now, just the way you are.
