@rhediix
After the rabbit hole I just inadvertently went down I think I need a six hour long comedy festival to ever make me smile or feel happy about anything ever again. Holy shit. I mean ...they say the truth hurts but man, I just want to kick back and laugh at some slapstick or something.
I'll be fine. Sometimes it's just a lot.
It has been done. All in all, didn’t take as long as thought. Now what should I do next?!
Gee...7 of the 9 images that pop up after I read this are Tessa & Scott. Remember last night how I said you wrote incessantly about Kabby? This was the OG of that kind of behavior. I bet you have more for this than you do for Kabby. You were shocked to see you had 72 for Kabby, guarantee it's like 80 for T/S.
The onion I have today is a red onion
I have created a new account. I would love for people to check it out.
Do you like polls?
Do you like Star Trek?
Do you like picking Star Trek episodes?
If yes then check out @startrekepisodebattles
Please and thank you.
Seriously: you all should head on over to my wife's poll tumblr. It's fast and fun (and eventually I'm sure we'll figure out a way to make it into a podcast). 😁
Something I will never truly understand is the compunction to destroy expensive football jerseys based upon nothing more than your favorite team member leaving your team.
So Baltimore really wanted Maxx Crosby. They traded a ton to get him (and ostensibly upset the Bengals who were also likewise interested in his services). Crosby is still injured, however and failed his physical likely because it's still too soon after his surgery to be attempting the things he's doing. So the deal fell apart. Crosby ended up committing with the Raiders, and Baltimore went after the next best thing and picked up Hendrickson from the Bengals.
Now, I get it. Inter-division rivalries and all that jazz. But hold up for just a second and bear with me. I have a solid question for my fellow ticked off Cincinnatians. Why exactly are we throwing around phrases like 'betrayal' and 'turncoat' when this is really neither? Trey is a pro athlete. He's contracted. It isn't 1956 and one guy does not play for one team 95% of his career. Your favorite player will eventually leave. It's a fact. The ones who retire for their teams are a rare breed. I don't get the blind hate for a player who the team won't continue shelling money out for leaving so we have more to spend on other players. I don't get the fans spewing hate at him and destroying the jerseys they paid $150 for at the pro shop. I mean glad you've got all that disposable income to be doing that, my dude.
Yes, your favorite player might well end up on a rival team in your division. Deal with it. Life goes on. It's not worth all of this drama. Some people are already comparing it to the Carson Palmer debacle. And honestly, I don't get the hate there either.
Palmer was mightily pissed with the franchise and the front office and wanted out. That's the short of it. All the other stuff about him screwing the team over and the fans is drama. It's really not even worth it to be mad about in the end. Palmer got what he wanted; he left and Dalton came in. Life went on. And honestly for all the anger and vitriol hurled by fans at the 'cheap front office' of the team, Palmer should be your hero, not a pariah. He figured out what was what long before all the current fans who love to hate the front office for precisely that same reason. And yet, people still burn jerseys.
Ooh. Big scary, for real. Go on and torch that jersey. The only one who is losing money is you. The player and team have already made their money off of it. I get the symbolism, you're mad. But if you really really stop and think about it: why are you mad? Because a player's done with your team? Because he took a payday and went to a rival? Do you get that mad when your coworker finds a job that pays more at Citibank when you're working at Chase?
Besides all of the furor surrounding this: Hendrickson is old for a player. He's been injured A LOT lately. Baltimore is getting a player on his last few years, with a potential to show some life in there, but most columnists would tell you he won't be there for very long. And if this really really is about him retiring a Bengal, then I don't know what to tell anyone. Trey kept saying over and over he wanted to be on the team, and help the team out. But honestly: what would he say? No, I hate it here fuck off? Come on. He's a professional. He knows his job. Don't get caught up on that. Because yeah, every star player for every team EVER in every league EVER is going to say that while they're playing for that team. That's kind of just what you do.
But burning jerseys? Stomping around and looking like an absolute fool on Instagram and YouTube? Come on. Are you looking for a real reason to be pissed off? Because maybe you need to take the blinders off and look at the state of the country and the world at large. Players leaving for rival teams? You'll get over it.
And yes. I know there's extenuating circumstances. But really a lot of that is hyper inflated and played up by the media. Just take a deep breath and get on with life.
Ssshh don't say anything
I did not win a single Super Bowl bet. I had over 80. And before anyone freaks most were like $0.25.
Seriously. Not. A. Single. One. Hit.
Thank God as I said 98% were under a dollar because I would be pissed if I lost thousands if not more.
Sadly, there are people out there who did just that.
PS I think the total amount invested was around $37 and some of that came from winnings from other wagers earlier, like NHL.
I don't know why I am trying to justify this or explaining my actions. I have no issue with it nor should anyone else.
Still winning something. Anything. Would have been nice. LOL.
Hey I won $4.70 off of a $1 on a horse today at Santa Anita. So I mean...there's that!

It's sort of hard to visit a place you live...
Keep in mind Vegas isn't just big flashy casinos and greed.
It's absolutely mind-blowing beautiful.
Yep...
I live in Las Vegas. It's more than just casinos. You're in a valley surrounded on all sides by beautiful mountain ranges, and deep in the heart of the Mojave Desert. Sunsets out here are grand and beautiful plus very colorful, indeed. There's not a moment I regret moving here when I see the natural beauty that surrounds me. I'm constantly in awe of the mountains.

Did you know that myself, my husband, and our friend have a Wild West inspired RPG podcast?
I play Henrietta "Henry" Dow a former trick shot performer in a traveling act/circus, turned gunslinger, but now is trying to find out exactly what type of person she wants to be. With new found friend and partner...
Lucian "Lucky" Noit (played by Ian) a card shark and straight shooter with a mysterious past that always seems to find him. He is trying his best to put good into the world.
Together the two are a good team and work to make the town of McKeegan's Bluff just a little bit better...
And Jason is the narrator (aka DM) and all the characters we interact with.
It's a lot of fun and not to toot my own horn or theirs, but I think we do a really good job and put on an entertaining show.

I think there's nuance that needs to be discussed. Taxes *can be* a good and necessary thing if you are using them to fund things that need to be paid for such as your nation's healthcare system, or funding research into disease prevention and cures. The list gets exhaustively long but for instance on a local level cities wouldn't survive without taxes that pay for sanitation, public transportation, libraries, schools, city hospitals, heck even some cities operating budgets themselves come from taxes. Taxes pay for pleasure too: stadiums, arenas, and music performance venues are all built with funding coming from it. And all of that is needed.
It's when the money starts getting moved around to fund nefarious causes and gets usurped by unscrupulous actors that problems begin to emerge.

I remember coming home from school; I want to say 4th grade (perhaps 5th)? Talking to my mom, just general chitchat and it wasn't even Christmas time (maybe autumn) and it suddenly just dawned on me Santa wasn't real and I asked. Simple as that. I wasn't teased. No one spilled or spoiled the secret. Nor did they take pity on me and finally tell me the truth. Leaning towards 5th now for a few reasons. I remember feeling embarrassed and foolish it took me so long to figure it out.
Sometime around when I was 9, my dad took me aside and just point blank rip-off-the-bandage style told me. It wasn't even near Christmas, either. It was hot and sunny and the smack dab middle of summer vacation. I have no idea what instigated it, but I do recall me being absolutely inconsolable for the rest of the day and in hysterics afraid I'd never get another present again (you see he neglected to mention that he and my mom were actually Santa and so in my 9-year old mind I believed he basically said "Santa isn't real, no more presents!"). My mother had to pick up the shattered remnants and explain the next day that they were Santa this whole time and they'd be the ones giving me the presents now, not "Santa".
Have you ever had a SEVERE/life threatening allergic reaction to something only to never be able to figure out what actually caused it?

Around 9 or 10 years old playing at a friend of a friend's backyard (looking back I think we were frenemies) I started itching really bad and got a serve rash and a clear reaction. The mom immediately drove me to my house; just a few streets over; rang the doorbell and my mom took one look at me yelled at my dad we were leaving and rushed me to clinic and I remember the receptionist immediately took me in to see the doctor without sitting in the waiting room. I was given a shot and everything went away. Now was this severe/life threatening? I suppose not but it was unknown and I broke out into hives, etc and if I didn't act quickly it may have become deadly.
Sixth Grade. So I was about 13. Went to music class. We had an instrument day. Basically the teacher would wheel out a bin of cheap plastic instruments: recorders, drums, harmonicas, slide whistles, etc and we'd learn a short piece of music. I began playing with a slide whistle and blowing into it, and then began to feel strange. Almost like I was sleepy/feverish. I walked up to the teacher and asked to go to the nurse. She looked concerned and said yes. I began walking and a big blank area appeared in my field of vision. I couldn't see through it. It was pure white. Like a hole had just been punched dead center of my visual field. I stopped dead. Unable to see my way, I asked for help and the nurse came and got me. 20 minutes later my lips began to get hives on them, and this concerned the nurse, she called my parents. Despite there being a hospital five minutes from the front door of my elementary school they took me 20 minutes away to my pediatrician who saw my BP was elevated, and sent me to Children’s Hospital. Once there the doctors gave me a shot, some antibiotics, and took blood samples. I left there a few hours later, and could see fine. Never was explained to me what happened.
Wheelchair users only:
Sometimes when I'm crossing the street and a wheelchair user is also crossing the street I will walk slower to match pace with the wheelchair user because trucks can see me better than them.
Thinking on this I'm worried it's comes across as weird.
Is it weird and should I stop?

Interested in your take on this @rhediix
While I don't dislike this on the face of it (been deep in an urban core late at night with a lot of traffic and crossing streets with large pickup trucks which are MUCH taller than I am in my chair), I feel like some may be weirded out by it because I always watch my surroundings in my chair. I'm keenly aware that I'm a target and it makes me uneasy when I'm sidled by someone. This is the same flavor of unease that comes when someone goes behind me. I have two handlebars on my chair and I could easily be tipped or taken away if my electric wheel hubs were turned off.
So while yes, I appreciate the additional assistance, perhaps placing yourself in front of the wheelchair user might be better than beside (as least as far as I'm concerned).
