Playing in a band as diverse as Urquides feels so significant now more than ever. All members of this project are affected by a Trump presidency in varying ways, and we’re still in mourning over this election. Our album, which is officially released today, is an exploration of gender, sexuality, race, language, and so many other intersections of life that make music a unique platform for conversation. Despite the fact that Urquides is on hiatus, we are grieving, we are processing, and we are continuing to create subversive art in the face of adversity.
You can listen to our album of protest on Spotify now.
Still thinking about this amazing event at @macla_sanjose this Thursday. A presentation by Jeff Chang on his incredible new book and a panel discussion on the many issues of race and equality that we all face everyday. Thank you @zentronix @joseiswriting @lindavallejoart @spur_urbanist @kqedofficial and MACLA for the inspirational and thought provoking evening. The sounds of pumpkin soup made from scratch. Everything you hear are sounds sampled in our little kitchen, shaped into something.
Beat = cutting board, knifes, pumpkin seeds, etc Bells = microwave beeps Synth = convection oven Voice = the chef
Back from our honeymoon trip, and with just under a week left in Boise. So, naturally, @krosestewart and I are trying to hit all of our favorite spots. First stop...@gurudonuts !

AHHHH
It’s finally finished!
I’m so inordinately proud of this entry Urquides made for NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest . And now we also have a music video. And I got to play the kalimba. Fun times all around.
Thanks to Lauryn Medeiros for editing the video, and thanks to Becky Mulberry for filming it and stopping us from killing each other when we glowered at the sun and snapped at each other in the early morning.
Check more bands out at tinydeskcontest.
The new @gurudonuts space is amazing - and the donuts better than ever :)
Built a snowman with my little cousins...merry Christmas!
Beautiful day for a walk among the trees
Green Zoo Theatre's TOAST opened tonight. Catch it at The Muse Building tomorrow and Saturday! #boise #theatre #greenzootheatre
I'm a bit of a podcast addict...awesome to read about story tellers and entrepreneurs dedicated to making more great audio content
TOAST: The Play
"To fix his crumbling marriage, Larry brings home Mr. Toast; a sentient toaster on the cutting edge of food preparation technology, complete with all the bells and whistles; including existential angst, homicidal jealousy and plenty of gangster rap."
Green Zoo Theatre is working on creating & producing a brand new piece of theatre: Toast...and we're trying to raise some money through an IndieGoGo campaign! The play is being written by Green Zoo's Thomas Newby and Jeff Young, and I'm really excited about the whole thing. It's going to be awesome. Check out the Mr. Toast infomercial and crowdsource video above, and please help us out if you're able. We appreciate the support! You can donate here.
A little bit of background: Green Zoo Theatre is one of the projects of the Green Zoo Arts Collective - something that a few friends and I founded last year, and for which I serve as managing director.
