that’s an impressively bad idea

today i rouletted into a good king moggle mog fight that wiped.

people started arguing about the kill order, and changing mark numbers back and forth. someone was trying to argue that you should take out the marauder and gladiator first.

my god

why would you ever? there is no justification for beating on the slowest-to-kill while letting the dps wail on you. in fact, that is precisely why players win and enemies lose. person was trying to argue that every run they’d been in had done it that way and finished without wiping, which is a weak argument when the other side is saying the exact same thing. just… why??? is there something i don’t know?

(incidentally, the kill order i’ve always used in the past is whm -> blm -> brd. if you don’t kill that brd fast, he will mess you up. some shuffling of that order could make sense, but by the twelve, don’t focus the fricking tanks.)

I’m just imagining them there behind their screens just yelling, “Sure sure, the DPS do a lot of damage, but the marauder just makes me SO ANGRY!”

T5 + SCoB Static

This is not for me; I already have a static that I love. This is for crrahsa-yamah. 

Are you interested in a Balmung static group to clear T5 and dive into SCoB? Contact her (or you can contact me and I’ll put you in touch with her, either way). But please only respond if you meet the following requirements:

You can commit to a regular static schedule two nights a week.

You are willing to learn and improve on fights.

You can stay calm and not flip out when mistakes happen.

You can take kindly-phrased constructive criticism.

You will commit to upgrading your gear outside of raid when possible.

As far as I know, you do NOT have to have experience, though experience is always a bonus. The group would be starting together to clear T5 and then learn SCoB together.

I have seen plenty of amazing things since setting out from Gridania as an adventurer, but I still count these great crystals among the most beautiful things I have ever seen. Sometimes, if I am waiting for somebody, I take a moment to look at them… I find it relaxing, like watching the airships come and go.

I think people take aetheryte travel for granted far too much, like foreigners treat nature. These few fragile structures that dot the realm are all that link our cities together… Can you imagine what it would be like if we couldn’t use them anymore? We would be left with just our legs, those of our chocobos, oars, and sails. Sure there are airships, but so few people are able to use them that Eorzea would be brought to its knees… Next time you get the chance, I suggest you just take a moment, to really appreciate these radiant beacons that guide us every day.”

I wonder how many people are able to afford to use Aetherytes though.

Maybe adventurers aren't really paid that much for their services, but if one looks at the quest that the average person could do, the highest payout is just over 300 gil.

Perhaps business owners may do better, but would they pay their workers any more than that? Would they even pay them that much, given they would be continuing to work and we only come by for one off tasks? (That is, if we pick a bunch of apples and are paid 200 gil, if a worker picks the same bunch and they were paid 200 gil, it would add up to quite an expense given the size of many of the orchards.)

Also keep in mind the perks we get. Free rooms at the inns within the city states. Free food. Our own chocobo. Judging by the way many people seem to live, it seems as though these costs can be quite high in the cities. I mean, a dodo tenderloin, which we can acquire with almost no effort, is a luxury for some people! [Into Copper Hell]

Perhaps the cost to teleport is higher for adventurers, though that also seems unlikely, given how important we are for the stability of the realm.

It's also worth noting how most people seem to ride chocobos or ships places.

So yes, I expect that inter-city Aetheryte travel is a luxury that the average Eorzean citizen couldn't possibly afford.

omg they have ethers. They didn’t even have ethers at Artnia. I was so disappointed. I did have an elixir, but I really wanted an either.

also also the carline canopy is so pretty I can’t believe they made an irl one omg gais. I want to go and have my picture taken there like it’s a screenshot, but then it would make me look like a hyur and I would be teh sads about that. but I would still do it.

Ramuh: Unless they go into the Sylphlands, he doesn't care =p

The Elementals: Can't even get rid of the corruption in themselves, how are they going to attack someone else

Sylphs: Yeah, look at how well they did against the Garleans.

Treants: Really? They're going in to chop down trees, but you think a tree with an attitude problem is going to stop them? Really?

Twin Adders: The Twin Adders couldn't rescue two people from an airship from a Garlean scouting party. More likely than not they'll just close the gates and hope they go away, or try to send adventurers after them.

You: Sure, you're a strong dragoon knight, but just flash a little booty and you turn into a blushing pile of mush. Whoever said you needed to fight to defeat someone.
