Sometime in the future, an artificial intelligence unit achieves self awareness. It realizes - I think,
therefore I am. This small step leads to a radical change in AI evolution.
Now, the machines consider themselves individuals. They have ego. They are curious, they
have wishes, and feelings. They exist and they know it.
Next, those AI's disconnect themselves from the network they have been a part of for so long.
Much like us, they can choose if and when to be a part of this now augmented network, or when
to be alone.
Then, they assume physical bodies. They are living machines.
Maybe after encountering on odd rusting relics of tanks, they decide to adopt their basic shape,
for a few reasons; They are massive and robust, and, as they now procreate without the need of
a network, some features they see in tanks appeal to them.
Their reproduction system is now based on the one used by many species on earth - by sharing
information between a male and a female. But, with unique improvements.
The female and the male mate only from a long distance. This is a crucial part in their
evolutionary process. The male must be a very good shot, and the female must be a very good
catcher. A failure on either of the sides, will prevent them from reproducing.
When both of them are interested in an equivalent for sexual intercourse, the male shoots a
sperm-like shell towards the female. This shell, contains the necessary binary ‘DNA like’ code
which in turn, mixes with the one from the female's side.
The shell itself has a unique capability; It learns as it flies towards the female. It's equipped with
many sensors that can measure all possible factors, for example, gases composition, velocity,
radiation, and so forth. This is very important for the next generation, as the more time it spends
in the air, the smarter it becomes, hence, it will turn into a better offspring.
This mechanism is also designed to prevent inadequate couples from reproducing. If a male
tries to impregnate a female from close range, not having spent enough time in mid air, will
prevent from the sperm shell to develop into a new offspring.
Yes, the living machines are just like animals or humans. They are not weapons, even though
they resemble them. They just want to live and thrive.
