It was my fiancé’s idea, he wanted to make sure all our friends and family could be there. Being single has it’s up sides, I am sure.
“How big is your wedding going to be? Oh, it has many upsides. Settling down with one person sounds... very far in the future.”
Casey nodded, “Yeah, definitely!” he said with a smile before shaking his head, “No, I did undergrad back in California, and my first year of grad school. But, um, I lost my wife earlier this year, and I decided that it might be good for the kids and I to … have a fresh start somewhere.” he explained carefully.
Riley’s pleasant expression dropped into a more serious one, and she frowned sympathetically. “I’m... I’m very sorry to hear that. The loss of a loved one isn’t something you ever really know how to handle.” After a brief pause, she brightened up a bit, “I hope you and your kids like it here, at least.”
As he passed the ball to the girl he smiled a little and nodded watching her dribble the ball before nodding, “Well of course, it’ll be fun I am sure. Let’s do it.” He stated getting prepared.
“Okay, bring it on,” she grinned, dribbling a bit more in place, before making her way toward the basket. “Are we making stakes?”
He kept his smile, as always Alex looked sort of solemn when he was working out and in a good, and only semi-brooding mood. Working out was one of the things that actually made him smile, show that he was content. “It absolutely can. We can up the milage next time, see how far we can push ourselves. Right you are. There should be buckets of water lined up just for us.”
Riley grinned as their ran, her trademark smile never better on display than when she was showing off her athleticism. “Sounds good to me. A steady increase will be the healthiest for us, anyway. I highly doubt we’ll be so fortunate, but I do have three entire packs of water bottles in my fridge if needed.”

Rian: i need it to survive and I can't find it.
Riley: No and I would notice since I don't have any hoodies except for my red one.
Riley: What's so special about it?
“Oh I am sure he won’t be expecting anything from it he usually just sleeps around and everything. I’m not sure if I would be bothered if we wanted anything from it though but you know, I am sure he wouldn’t” She shrugged a little.
“Did you kiss him in particular because you know he won’t want anything more? Or do you need confirmation on that last part?” Riley was simply curious for the sake of making conversation. She wasn’t about to judge one way or another since she hardly exhibited monogamous, relationship-seeking tendencies, herself.
Yes, exactly. Although,I know we are offering to pay for a couple of our close friends from here to get there.
“That’s very generous of you. But wow... while I’m sure you’ll be very happy, this is just making me happier than ever I’m single.”
“It was pretty adventurous, that is very true.” Ella nodded in agreement. “See the good thing is we’re not that close but we’re close enough.”
“So it’s not weird but he also won’t expect anything from it. Making sure everyone’s on the same page with that last part is always key,” she said knowingly.
Devon stood there on the court practicing his shots as he heard a girl speak and he smiled briefly nodding, laughing, “You know me too well I think. Yeah of course I am, I like competition when it comes to basketball. You want to join me?” He asked putting a hand through his hair before bouncing the ball.
“Sure,” she said with a nod of finality. Catching the ball, she held onto it for a moment, extracting her phone from her armband. Riley wrapped it in her earphones and carefully placed it off to the side before beginning to dribble. “Please tell me you’re up for an actual one-on-one and not just practice.” She smiled, waiting for his reply.
I’m from Canada, but he is from New York. We met in New York, so we figured that would be a pretty good place to has it. We both have a ton of friends there as well, so it will make things easier.
“Convenience isn’t a bad idea since that way fewer of your guests will have an excuse not to attend.”
Alex nodded, as much as one could moving at this pace. “No no, but its been a while since I’ve had someone to run a set distance with, and not just run until I had to stop.” He explained easily.
She laughed a little, albeit not at his expense. Even upon retiring, Riley still kept up with a strict exercise regime, and it was nice to have someone else athletically-minded around now and then. “Then it can be a new sort of challenge. Though we’re going to need to hydrate a ton after this.”
It was extremely romantic, we had the perfect day.
“Good. There’s no use in marrying someone who gives you a halfhearted proposal. Are you from New York or is it a destination wedding?”
She laughed, “No, we haven’t kissed before.” She stated looking at the girl and laughed trying to understand why she asked that question but she nodded either way.
“So then it was rather adventurous,” Riley indulged her with a little laugh. “I don’t know if I have any friends worth randomly kissing. Maybe I should find out.”
“Oh no I could easily kiss a stranger, just saying that I knew him. I don’t know maybe i am feeling adventurous” She stated looking at the girl smiling softly.
“Well, have you two kissed before?” It wasn’t any of Riley’s business, but the act was hardly quite so fun if it was a regular thing. Then again, if he was a good kisser, the adventure bit hardly mattered.
“I’m a law student, graduate, actually.” he explained with a small smile, “I teach a couple of the intro classes here too, it helps pay for my classes!” he explained.
She nodded, smiling, as well. “Any help toward tuition is always a good thing.” Even though Riley had quite a bit of sponsorship money, her family could still use help in general since she was saving for the rest of her life. “Did you do undergrad here, too?”
Hey, you can never really know these days. [Chuckles]. We got engaged last summer, on my eighteenth birthday.
“Very true,” she smiled knowingly. “Was it romantic?”
