This is the best description I’ve heard for this method, I always thought it was bullshit because I never heard a description that actually explained how to do this other than “tap your head 20 times”.
I have anxiety-induced hissing, which sounds/feels different from sound-induced tinnitus (which I have also experience). Sound-based tinnitus actually sounds like you’re “hearing” something in your ears, whilst the hissing I have feels like it’s “inside my head”, if that makes sense. But this technique still helps!!
Here’s a visual I found because I couldn’t understand the instructions well
My ringing just went away for the first time in years. What is this blissful quiet.
wait wait i gotta try this, i don’t think i’ve had Actual Silence since i was like 5
HOW THE FUCK
Reblogging to save a life, and also because, even if you don’t have tinnitus, this is totally worth trying if you like new sensory experiences.
Just showed this to my dad, and in his words, “The cicadas are still there, but the train is gone.”

Capitalism will put the bill on your grave and harass your grieving family until they pay
One of my cousins passed away unexpectedly at the age of 35, and had been paying back a loan from the bank. About two weeks after his death, my great aunt received a statement from the bank (his mail was being delivered to her house) about a late payment. She called the bank and explained the situation and the only thing a manager could say was “Well, that’s unfortunate. We can arrange so payments will resume in 30 days, that should be enough time to have already paid for the other arrangements.”
On top of the unexpected $10,000 funeral, cremation and burial bill, my aunt had to finish paying my uncle’s $5,000 loan. She’s a disabled retiree, on a fixed income, and could barely afford to pay for her insulin for diabetes. She nearly lost her home of more than 40 years. Fuck the system.
She didn’t need to pay. When people die, their debts are not their family’s responsibility.
In fact, it is outright illegal to try and collect those debts from a person who didn’t cosign the loan and isn’t executing the will.
Who is responsible for paying off the debts of your deceased relatives?
Here’s a link to the detail on that one.
Banks count on people not knowing that last comment so that they can still get money
They really do.
My great-grandmother had her identity stolen before she died at the age of 93, and thousands of charges were racked up on credit cards in her name. After she passed away, they called my mother to try and collect. My mom laughed at them, and told them: “She’s dead, good luck collecting.” The credit card asked my mother, “Don’t you want to clear your grandmother’s debts? Don’t you want to clear her good name?” My mom laughed at them again. “No,” she said. “Because a 90 year old wasn’t watching porn with those credit cards, and her name is fine. Don’t give credit cards to old women likely to pass away soon. This is on you.”
Which is how I learned as a young child to always question collection agents, and to never pay off debts that aren’t your own. They often can’t even collect that money from the estate, if there is one, depending on how you write your will and what kind of account the money was kept in.
DO NOT EVER PAY OFF DEBTS THAT AREN’T YOUR OWN.
If a loved one of yours dies and bill collectors (credit cards, loans, etc etc) start calling you off the hook and request that you pay off their debts, tell them in no uncertain terms to go fuck themselves.
The reason being is that the moment you give them a single penny, that debt is now on YOU because you’ve now agreed to pay it off.
Do not agree to pay off their debt. Do not pass go, do not give them $200.
Boosting this to let people know that if any of these greedy little dog-fuckers start harassing them to pay off a relatives debt the correct thing to do is just tell them to piss off and not pay them a single thing
And that there is NOTHING they can do if you do this
@bitchesgetriches
ALL OF THIS.
Personal debt is not inheritable! That includes credit cards, you guys!
oh god i’m a person. oh christ

November 9th marks the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
I’d like to tell you the story of how it happened, because like all good stories from history, it is at once touching, dramatic, tinged with screwball comedy, and ultimately makes an event which at the time seemed impossible, now seem inevitable.
(All links on this post go to Wikipedia pages, except the ones that say [watch], which take you to YouTube videos of contemporary footage.)
The story of how the Berlin Wall fell really begins the night it was built, August 12th - 13th, 1961. News cameras were present, and in a time before satellite communications, the press hurried to fly the footage to the western hemisphere the same day – within 24 hours, the whole world knew of the Wall’s construction [watch]. Legally crossing any part of the Iron Curtain from East to West had been extremely difficult for years, and no one was allowed to apply for a travel pass if the Soviet government had the least suspicion that they would defect, but the Berlin Wall instantly became the most infamous and hated symbol of all that was wrong about the Soviet regime, and remained so for the 28 years that it stood. In that time, thousands of brave souls escaped East Berlin by going over or under it, and 138 people died in the attempt.
In 1985, Mikhail Gorbachev became the General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union – let’s just say Head Bitch In Charge for short. The Soviet Union was reeling from three quick changes of leadership – Gorbachev’s three predecessors died in November 1982, February 1984, and March 1985 – and the Afghan War and the arms race with the US had drained it both financially and from a morale standpoint. Gorbachev, young and vibrant (for a Soviet leader), wanted to reform the communist government and save the Soviet Union, and his over-arching policies were Glasnost (transparency and openness) and Perestroika (restructuring of government). The urgent need for reform was made even more glaring after the Chernobyl disaster and the subsequent bungling attempt at a cover-up, which was completely consistent with the way Soviet bureaucrats operated and which worsened the situation considerably.
Gorbachev’s dedication to reforming the Soviet Union meant that uprisings during his time as HBIC were not put down with brutal military force, as had the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 and the Polish Crisis of 1980-1981 for example. The countries of the Eastern Bloc noticed Gorbachev’s reform mentality, and both their leaders and their ordinary citizens began to slowly but surely test the limits of his leniency.
One of these leaders was Miklos Nemeth. Nemeth was 8 years old when Soviet tanks rolled into Budapest to quash Hungary’s nationwide revolution, and in 1989 he was the Prime Minister. In March, he very quietly began to have the barbed-wire fence between his country and Austria (a free western democracy) dismantled. And what happened in response to this defiance was…nothing. No one came out to fix the fence, and Hungary received no reprimand from the Soviet Union. At that point, the Austrian Foreign Minister, Alois Mock, telephoned the Hungarian Foreign Minister, Gyula Horn. They decided to invite the international press to an event in April wherein both men would themselves symbolically cut part of the barbed-wire fence.
There was just one problem – they had so successfully dismantled the fence already that they had to have a section specially rebuilt just to be destroyed for the ceremony!
Not only did this destruction of a piece of the Iron Curtain pass without incident, in Austria it was considered such a non-event that on the news that night, the lead story was about how to get rid of slugs in your backyard (with cups of beer, they advised). Only after this gardening tip was relayed did the anchor happen to mention what was going on with the border.
Emboldened, that summer Austria and Hungary held a “friendship picnic”—citizens of both countries were invited to chillax and mingle with each other right on the border. In anticipation of this event, the Hungarian government (which up to that point had been responsible for picking up East Germans trying to escape to the West and fly them back home) printed up flyers expressly meant to show East Germans where the picnic was being held so that they could pop over to Hungary (which they were allowed to do) and defect to West Germany via Austria if they cared to. Though many suspected it was a hoax, people were so desperate to leave that they took the chance. In just that one day, more than 900 Germans crossed the border [watch a man carrying his young daughter into Austria].
And still nothing happened! Soon Czechoslovakia was also relaxing their borders. That summer and fall, East Germany was hemorrhaging tens of thousands of people – and the ones who stayed were getting restless. For years, information had been leaking into the Eastern Bloc that the West was not the oppressive hellscape that Soviet propaganda had assured them it was, and the call for reform was growing louder every day. Glasnost and Perestroika were not moving as fast as the people’s desire for liberation, and the Soviet Union needed to stop the flight and unrest of so many people without resorting to military violence.
In November of 1989, it was decided that the best way to do this would be to gradually open a few checkpoints at the Berlin Wall, so that they could at least keep track of everyone who traveling to the West. An East Berlin bureaucrat named Gunter Schabowski was hurriedly tasked with announcing this change in travel regulations to the press. Late in the evening of November 9th, he was given a note to read and hustled out in front of cameras for a live broadcast at around 10 PM.
“When does this policy change take effect?” the press asked. No one had told him when. It was not on the piece of paper he held. Flustered, Schabowski speculated, “Immediately, without delay.” [watch - this is a long video, but skip around to shots of the crowd and see the shocked and bewildered looks on their faces]
This statement was broadcast worldwide, and despite the late hour, East Berliners left their homes and approached the six checkpoints along the Wall within minutes [watch]. For 28 years, anyone trying to get across the Wall had been shot to death by the Stasi (the East German secret police). But tonight, the Stasi knew that the whole world was watching, and in the new geopolitical climate, no one wanted to be the person who ordered their men to start firing on crowds. Instead, they yielded, allowing citizens to cross the border with almost no inspection of travel documents or identification papers.
In addition to this unrestricted crossing, ordinary people also began to hack away at the Wall with hammers and pickaxes. Soon after, the East German government sent bulldozers to dismantle sections of the Wall [watch] to create ten new border crossings, and in just one year, the Wall was gone entirely and Germany was officially reunited.
Gorbachev, today considered to be one of the greatest statesmen of the 20th century, saw out the last days of the country that he loved but could not breathe new life into – on December 8, 1991, the Soviet Union was dissolved. Gorbachev resigned on Christmas Day [watch], and as he left the Kremlin, the Soviet flag was lowered and the Soviet national anthem played for the last time [watch].
On this day, please remember that many small people who in many small places do many small things can alter the face of the world, and with every tentative experiment, every lucky twist of fate, even with every accident and blunder, still all of us stumble towards freedom.
“Sooner or later, every wall falls.”
Just in case you were curious about Rocket Raccoons German Voice Actor, Fahri Yardim. I know it’s Bradley Cooper in the original version, but I think Fahri did a great job here, I really like how he voiced Rocket! :)

shout out to the kids and adults who have memory problems, who get yelled and screamed at by their families for not remembering things
or over-remembering. remembering things no one else seems to remember but still having blankets of empty in their memory and wondering why they can’t remember chunks of things or why their timelines are all off
If y’all wanna know the true power of hate, just remember that Alan Turing, the breaker of the enigma code in WWII, was driven to suicide by being forced to undergo chemical castration as a punishment for his homosexuality.
Historians say he saved 14 to 21 million lives.
I’d also like to say in the time we studied WWII in school, the history textbooks never mentioned him. I had never heard of the guy until I watched “The Imitation Game” which I 110% recommend you watch if you haven’t.Alan Turing was a blessing to humanity who saved (once again) 14 to 21 million lives, and he is left out of history because he was gay.
And this is just one example?? So many brilliant and heroic people are left out of history because of their race, their gender, their sexuality, their religion, and it’s just because some bigots in positions of influence get to decide what parts of history are remembered.
This man has had a profound effect on the world, it’s estimated he shortened the war by 2 years, saved countless lives and was the father of modern computing. Without him the world would be a very different, and very dark place.

Endgame Steve Analysis/Rant
Okay, so I needed to get this out of my system. I really have a lot of issues with Steve’s ending in Endgame. I know this has been done to death and it’s like beating a dead horse but hear me out. I may ship Steve/Bucky but I’m not delusional; I never expected it to be canon. This is from a platonic perspective.
TL:DR canon doesn’t care about platonic relationships and they fucked up. i’m off to AO3. haters don’t interact.
Anyway, the ending? Was a complete disrespect to Steve’s character. It just took The First Avenger, Winter Soldier and Civil War and the other Avengers movies and undermined all the important connections that Steve made over the 11 years out of the ice.
I know some people have been saying that he was always a man out of his time. But that’s his story. He will always be a man out of his time. The more appropriate story was to accept that he is a man out of his time, but now he has a reason to stay because he has family in this time, and not have him run back to past to rekindle an old romance. Because that’s character growth.
Which brings me to my second point. We are all aware that Peggy moved on. She got married, had children, and grandchildren. She had a fulfilling life. She died 8 years prior to the events of Endgame. And what did she say? “The world has changed. And none of us can go back. All we can do is our best. And sometimes the best that we can do is to start over.” (BUT NOT LIKE THAT STEVE) So Steve just goes, nah fuck that, i’m not starting over, in a new time, I’m going back? I know what the Russos said about alternate timelines etc but I really don’t think that Steve would just assume that he could walk into her life and resume things even in an alternate timeline, based on an experience bourne through the stress of war.
Which now, third point. People are going on about ‘shared life experience’ and how he can have that with Peggy. nO. Steve was defrosted before 2012. Endgame conclude in 2023. This means that he has been through 11 years without Peggy and what an 11 years it has been. He fought aliens (more than once), his best friend (whom we will get to in just a bit) was brought back but brainwashed as a killing machine, S.H.I.E.L.D is Hydra wow, existential crisis #1 with Ultron, best friend comes back and they have another fight, existential crisis #2 with Thanos. ARE YOU TELLING ME THAT HE’S THE SAME STEVE THAT WENT DOWN IN THE ICE? He’s changed. He’s not the Steve that Peggy knew. (Let’s not get into more details that Peggy must have noticed that he’s different too - she’s a smart woman)
Fourth point. People have also been saying, ‘BUT BUCKY AND SAM ARE FINE HE WAS GONE FOR 10 SECONDS.’ Again, no. Steve was gone for 50-70 years, depending on where he yeeted himself to. 50-70 years is a long time. A very long time. Things would have happened. Many things. Things that we aren’t privy to. He’s no longer the same Steve they knew. Hell, Bucky and Sam aren’t even the same people he knew BECAUSE of those 50-70 years to him - they’re perhaps just a fond memory, from a distant past. This is what bothered me the MOST. It’s not ‘just 10 seconds’. It was a lifetime away. Steve gave them up willingly, gave up his other friends, for a lifetime. Yes, he deserved to be happy, and he had a reason to - his present friends, family. It’s such a slap to the face. It’s telling them that they weren’t enough for him, no matter what they’ve been through together. It was such a big ‘fuck you’ to his present.
This leads me to my fifth point. It’s a cop-out, a cheap ending. We had the ride-or-die Steve and Bucky friendship in The First Avenger. They were together through everything - even when they had nothing, they had each other, to the end of the line.
Steve saves Bucky once, but the second time, he doesn’t, and he’s devastated. But that’s not the last of him. The next time we see him, he’s a killing machine, tortured and brainwashed for 70 years at the hands of Hydra. Yet Steve trusts him, wants his best friend back. He believes he’ll get Bucky back. He wants to get him back. Bucky remembers and saves Steve. He leaves. This is also an important element - he’s just remembering who he is. He needs time to figure out what’s going on. I don’t expect him to run back to Steve immediately (because some posts were like, bUt BuCkY nEvEr LooKeD/sTaYed fOr/WiTh StEvE fiRsT!!!)
We next see Bucky in Romania, keeping a low profile, until Hydra has to come back and ruin things for him. During this time, he hasn’t forgotten. Reminder, he kept a notebook with Steve’s picture in it on top of his fridge. (picture: https://kimitofutari.tumblr.com/post/180010535243/ill-never-get-over-the-fact-that-there-was-a)
Again, to everyone who said that Bucky never once sought out Steve, we have to understand that Bucky is burdened with tremendous guilt. He now knows what he did as the Winter Soldier. He’s assassinated so many people. Would he just go back and think that Steve would accept him for what he’s done? Anyway, Steve then defies 117 countries, becomes a fugitive, and fights Tony for Bucky. That’s the basis of Civil War. Bucky is still his best guy. He’s with him to the end of the line.
So that we don’t get a repeat of Civil War, Bucky goes to Wakanda so that they can help with the activation code nonsense. Steve is without Bucky, but only temporarily, because he’s out and about looking after goats at the end of Black Panther. Apparently, Bucky and Steve still keep in touch frequently.
Before anyone can negate that with ‘oh, but you said, but you said, in 70 years people change’. This is different. Bucky was stolen away, hidden, had his identity stripped, no memory of who he was because of Hydra. Whenever the Winter Soldier wasn’t on a mission, he was wiped and put in cryo again. He didn’t have any meaningful human contact. Steve left willingly for 50-70 years to pursue what he thought was a better life, leaving those who cared about him behind in a different time line.
Another theory people have been throwing around is that Bucky knew and he was okay with it, that maybe they talked about it. So my sixth point: I personally don’t think he was okay with it. We know that Bucky was brainwashed. Mentioned above, he carries the sins of the Winter Soldier’s past and the accompanying guilt like a heavy weight. In Civil War, he questions if he was worth all of this (this being a war criminal lmao). In Infinity War, just before the whole shitshow with Thanos, he says he’s a ‘semi-stable 100-year-old man’. Emphasis on semi-stable. He may be recovering, but essentially, he knows what he’s done and I don’t think he may ever be a 100% totally fine since, y’know, 70 years of torture does that to you, and that memories of his time as the Winter Soldier and in Hydra containment will continue to haunt him at some basic level*. He’s brought back in Endgame, still presumably semi-stable since time has stopped for him after being dusted. (picture: https://hridi.tumblr.com/post/173385335791/oh-dear-god-they-deserved-better-they-deserved)
So when Steve doesn’t come back, it’s a nail in the coffin. It’s almost saying that no, he’s not worth it. And Bucky agrees. Of course he agrees. He’s been telling himself that since regaining his memories and Steve confirms it by leaving. He lets Steve go but that doesn’t make it right. (picture: https://marvelzbitch.tumblr.com/post/184532540474/my-heart-is-breaking-they-really-were-with-each) Fuck it, the look in his eyes is heartbreaking.
(*This is not to say that I discredit him as being weak and unable to recover. He can, but as with most mental illnesses, there are good days and bad days. A particularly bad day is all you need to fall into a downward spiral again. I’m sure people can vouch (I mean I do have first-hand experience, but this isn’t about me).)
He doesn’t approach Steve at the bench. He asks Sam. What was he feeling then? Resentment because his best friend, truly the only constant in his life, left him for a life that he thought was better? Fear because it’s been 50-70 years for Steve and he’s literally a different person? Will he still see Bucky in the same light? Or worse, that he’s become a stranger that Bucky can’t recognise? Resigned because he knows that he really wasn’t worth it after all and that to pretend otherwise was just pushing the knife deeper into the wound? We don’t know. But the fact that he didn’t approach Steve spoke volumes. He says that he’ll miss Steve, but doesn’t want to meet him when he returns.
Anyway, about the whole ‘shared life experience thing. Let me build my case.
They were together since childhood.
They lived through the Great Depression. They made do with what they had.
Bucky got drafted and Steve desperately wanted to come alone as well.
Steve gets the serum. So does Bucky when he was kidnapped.
Steve crashes and is asleep for 70 years. He’s MIA. Captain America was a legend. Bucky is experimented on and is in and out of cryo for 70 years. He’s MIA. The Winter Soldier was a myth. They’re both men out of their time.
Also because of the serum, we can extrapolate that they might probably have an extended lifespan. Which they can have, together, when others have come and gone, they’re still standing.
In conclusion, this movie regressed Steve’s character growth. The movie ignores their extensive shared past and ignores so many intricacies that we’ve come to know about the characters. The movie discredits platonic relationships, that a platonic relationship is never as meaningful as a romantic one.
Of course if y’all wanna make ‘em happy and kiss each other I would totally fine with that too.
THANK YOU FOR COMING TO MY TED TALK.
