What did he say about his memory? Was something wrong with his remembrances? He dismissed it as a joke, but there was no way someone would bring attention to that detail- and though he did not draw the conversation on that otherwise meaningless tidbit of information, he carefully noted it on the back of his mind. “Offended? Aren’t you too?” Though he seemed more put-off than angered by the matter, and since he half-admitted his memory was not exactly one to be trust, he had less reasons to be.
“But you’re right, it does not add up, except…”To resume: Blondie there claimed to be Phantom R. Ignoring the big physical differences that he could not explain, just as he could not explain the more subtle ones in each of his alternates, he was stealing art and had an annoying wannabe-detective that gave him trouble- or was it the other way around? He admitted it was back and forth between himself and his Charlie. If he did tell the truth, then he was admittedly from another verse than his own where he did take the place of the thief extraordinaire. But could he drop that bomb without sounding, well, crazier than he must be sounding right now? Only one way to find out. He took a short breath before diving in.
“Bear with me here, but I might have an explanation. I’ve already met several Phantom R from different dimensions, though they all add their own quirks- remember when I mentioned that I was a sound thief? You could say that’s my quirk. The weird thing is, all those alternates looked like me. And I’m not just talking about the suit.” Yeah, no, in and out of his mind, it did sound crazy. But wasn’t it the only possible explanation for them both to say the truth? At least, Pressy did not doubt the state of his own memory.
○ ❞I wouldn't be as quick to say I'm the one offended, my good man."
Offended was a bit of a long shot. Perhaps mildly irate at the idea that an impostor was so stuck on the idea he was Phantom R, and did an absolute terrible job at replicating the look. Ah, so maybe it was a hair higher than a mild agitation, but hardly the levels which Red went on to express. Red--now Red here, the fellow who at least wore the suit quite well, went on to further your note with words of his own. At the very least, it was quite pleasant to agree that something was quite wrong about the situation. Had things been a hair different, you could of almost let slip a "who's flying the plane" joke, or something thereof. Always the one to make light out of a bad position, weren't you?
His words, however, were not quite so clear, much to your dismay.
○ ❞Other dimensions? As if it's all some sort of sci-fi fantasy? There's a thought to be had." Quite the odd thought no less. What appeared to be stranger still, was how sure Red seemed to be of his theory. You weren't so sure if you should take his words seriously, or absently let them slide. There was always a possibility for the impossible, wasn't there? Sure, way down, deep inside some long missed shooting star in the night sky of a blue moon, maybe. "Say I take your words for what they are, and that they are true. Are you suggesting I'm one of these others with a quirk of sorts?"
Yes, but Ringabel without his pompadour is important as well.
○ ❞I think it as a blessing that there are those who can celebrate Mother's Day with their mothers. And, for those of us who cannot, well. You have my deepest condolences. I, for one, am not quite as bothered by the holiday. I think it as a wonderful day, regardless."
Ah yes, here I am. Sorry for the absence, I came down with something quite fierce and spent much of my time sleeping off a fever. I'm mostly over it now, but I don't suppose I'll be on much this weekend. Plans, you see.
I've got some drawing lined up, but hey. Send stuff here if you want me to scribble something while I'm out this weekend. In the mean time, I'll see if I can't get replies and whatnot rolling, huh?
Ringabel & Edea / ヤナギハラ@ついった
"I realize that." She addressed only the latter of his words. Why comment on what he said before? He was a liar. This much was something she had convinced herself of. And who would claim to hate lying? Well, one who does it all the time, of course. As for her views of the world, it wasn’t something she wanted to discuss with him of all people. It was bad enough they were talking this way at all. "If you were easy to arrest, I would’ve done it by now. It’s just a matter of pushing myself until I’ve improved enough to accomplish my goal- and then you’ll have to find alternative methods of lying to women."
Well, you supposed there would be no changing in such things. You were nothing more than a thief to her--one who charmed his way through life, no less. Such was how it went. Maybe it was how things should be.
○ ❞I only wish you the best of luck, detective. I seem to have a few more years on you. Perhaps. I do look forward to the day I'm the one disarmed."
"Because there are ulterior motives behind your words, Phantom. Why else would you continue to compliment the detective who pursues you, if not to charm her right out of her attempts? I’ll never let that work. You have my word on that much."
○ ❞It pains me to think that you believe the world is so black and white. Honestly, Edea, if I could charm my way and get everything I want, I don't believe I would. I don't fancy lying." Ah, but that was never how it looked, was it? When you spoke the way you did, so prim and proper most hours of the day. It looked just as she said it did, as if you had an ulterior motive. Lying through your teeth, even. It couldn't be helped, really. "I digress. My arrest won't come easy, nor overnight. But, you knew that, didn't you?"
Ah, well, it was the answer she had expected. At least she could say she was right about that much.
"The normal creepy thing is more like it. Hanging around young girls’ windows, are you? The more I hear about your so-called charming, the more I feel you’re just adding to your list of offenses to be charged for. No surprise, really."
○ ❞You seem to be the only one who thinks as much. What a shame. I can't even get away with simply commenting on how well you look these days. Woe is me. Oh, very well. I suppose I'll allow you to think my mind is only centered on theft and women."
"It wasn’t supposed to be kind. Anyhow, that was the response I was expecting to receive. Let me take a guess, fencing, in a proper environment for it, is among your hobbies? And for a long time, I would assume. What else can we count among your hobbies?" No ulterior motive for wanting to figure this one out. Of course not.
Oh, nice try, Edea. So close to really figuring out the most infamous thief in Paris. Really.
○ ❞I'm afraid I can't even begin to tell you my history with fencing. Other than that, I enjoy long walks on the beach and candle lit dinners, poetry and serenading pretty mademoiselles outside their window. The normal casanova thing; I'm sure you understand."
"If that’s the case, then you should widen your horizons. There’s more ‘finer things in life’ than just those few things you focus on. And no, that’s not an invitation to steal more than artwork."
○ ❞You're far too kind, detective. But I'm afraid they're not the only things that occupy my mind. They're only the things that are most common. If I had to place an order on it, it's a tie between artwork and women, and my other hobbies listed below."
"You’ve got a real one-track mind, Phantom R. Women and artwork- are those the only things you care about?"
○ ❞And a wonderful evening to you as well, detective. I'm afraid that, regardless of what I'll express, you'll disagree. But, if you must know, I only appreciate the finer things in life. As you can see."
○ ❞I do fancy the finer parts of the city. Rather, the women which shine brighter than even our city of lights. Nothing fills an evening better than the company of a beautiful woman, I'd say."
Hoenn remake, getting sick, sixty pound dog trying to get in my lap, wanting coffee something fierce...
Good day, considering.
