i'm not saying creative block isn't a real or difficult phenomenon. i'm saying creatives have a tendency to neglect themselves physically and emotionally in favor of manic bursts of productivity. a little softness and clean sheets and a bagel will go a long way. make a playlist and light the fancy candle you've been saving for a special occasion. life is a special occasion.

abstract and modern art haters are sooo snobby like klein literally Created an entirely new pigment and then painted a canvas in a way where the brush strokes wouldn't be visible. the insinuation that people with no skill could reproduce that is so annoying because unless you are skilled at color mixing and painting you definitely couldn’t lmao

I'm trying to do all the prompts, but a few have me a little stuck, so I'll be revisiting some later in the month!

Day three's prompt is "stardust," which I am so excited to start on!

This was one of my first ever commissions! There are a few layers not shown here for the sake of the client as they've not signed off on the rest, but I was so pleased with how sweet my little rendition of Nessie came out, I just had to share it.

Upgraded my colored pencils for the first time in nearly a decade today, so to familiarize myself with the new formula, I've been coloring this sweet little sea serpent from Camilla d'Errico's "Pop Manga: Cute and Creepy" coloring book I bought recently! This is still very much in progress but I'm so pleased with the start.

DeviantArt have just announced that they’re launching their own ai art generator, and every deviation that has ever been posted has been automatically opted in - I’ve checked this for myself and every one of my own artworks now needs to be manually changed in the settings of every single deviation otherwise they’ll be used.

To have your artist username exempted from prompts you have to fill in a Google form to be approved by a human, and you must prove that you operate under your respective alias to ask them not to use it - read more here

Suffice to say I’m livid, I’ve been on DeviantArt for a decade and I’m going to shut down my account once I’ve manually opted out my hundreds of deviations. On their promotion page for the new tool they’ll emphasize that it’s *totally within the control of the artists* showing an image of the checked box that opts you out, while not mentioning that all of your previous deviations are already opted in by default.

I would recommend that anyone who has similar plans as me and wants to leave the site should manually opt-out for every deviation before shutting down your account, just to be on the safe side because I’m not sure if just deactivating your account would count as opting out.

I’ll try to keep this post updated with accurate and up-to-date information since AI related stuff can quickly cause a frenzy online - don’t hesitate to DM me with any new information and I’ll update it here!

I am currently opting out each piece and its just as frustrating as this announcement was.

Just to help out, if you need more time to figure out your game plan, you can put your stuff in storage. This does nothing pertaining to the opt out, it just takes them off your page for viewing.

I am storing everything, after i opt out each piece because i have a lot of drawings that i dont have the original jpgs anymore and cant delete just yet. Here’s the how to for anyone who may need it:

Opt Out also just adds a metadata tag telling AI programs not to use it in their dataset, while still… providing it in the dataset. Bad faith or incompenant devs could easily ignore the tag making the opt out completely meaningless.

In my personal recommendation, DO NOT upload any new art to Deviantart under any circumstances. If you feel more comfortable you can delete old art (preferably save and archive it first, natch) but in all lilelihood it’s already been scraped.

This just. It’s such a violation and there’s so technically little recourse that you can get, it sucks so fucking hard.
