How to write Inner Monologue!<3
Writing culture is knowing you overuse a word or phrase so switching them out as you edit, only to find that you switched ALL of them out and now you’re overusing a DIFFERENT phrase in its place
Hello.
Have you ever deleted a fic if it got no kudos or comments. I only ask because that's what happened to me and I'm going to delete it soon. With the way everything gets accused of being AI now it makes me not want to post anything on AO3 anymore. I know I'm not good at writing and the fact that I have Autism doesn't help because I'm not good at speaking either. I hate that people are putting real people's work into an AI feeder to see if it's written by AI. Feel free to ignore this if you don't want to answer it. Love your blog.
I have never deleted any of my fics. I used to write for a very small fandom where literally about 90% of the works for that fandom were from me. because it’s a very small, local show without a real fandom, barely anybody knows about it (it’s still such a good show though), I rarely got any hits, let alone comments or kudos. I still had fun writing about the characters — because I write for me, for the joy and comfort of getting to write, not whether or not strangers will like it. I mean, sure, kudos and comments are great, but they aren’t the reason why I write in the first place. I only stopped writing about that show because my brain shifted the hyperfixation to a new media, not because rarely anybody read my works for that fandom. I had fun writing about it regardless, and I don’t regret putting so much of my time and love into writing for that show. and yes, all of my works for that show are still up.
that said, I understand the fear of having your works mistaken for ai or having it used to train ai. I wish I had a better answer or way to prevent it. unfortunately I kind of accepted and made peace with the concepts of 1. people will think what they’re gonna think, but that doesn’t make what they think true. I know I didn’t use ai and I don’t care about what strangers think about me or my works, and that alone is enough 2. anything and everything I post on the internet may be used to train ai in some way. do I like it? no. but it’s just the reality we live in now, unfortunately. I still have fun writing. I still post my works normally. I won’t let anything take that away from me. but I do understand why some writers may no longer want their works published anymore. whatever you do, whichever decision you make, is valid. I hope you find joy and comfort in writing, whether or not you decide to share your works.
i haven't been able to stop thinking abt ayda and her notes so here u go ^_^
Writer culture is looking up the definitions of the most basic words during editing because suddenly you don’t trust your skills and are worried you might be using ‘stare’ incorrectly.
Writing Prompt #303
A kingdom bans magic, but one person is born with a small, uncontrollable spell that manifests under stress.
I genuinely think interactive fiction is an underappreciated art form.
the Relationship Ambiguity Zone™️ is a beautiful place to be. safe place to put your characters. put all characters into Relationship Ambiguity Zone. is that guy your mentor or your dad? Ambiguous!!! are you friends or enemies? Ambiguous!!! is it romantic? is it platonic? is it sexual? Ambiguous!!!!!!! never categorize anything ever in the Relationship Ambiguity Zone. just make them fucking weird about each other.
had a character chart idea
i think more robots should be disabled actually. robots whose bodies keep falling apart and need much more consistent repairs. robots whose bodily upkeep is hard and laborious and exhausting. robots who physically cant do things without help from another individual. robots who are imperfect and dont fit the bill of a flawless machine. i want more of this waiter please bring me more disabled robots
Waiting for the day when AI "art" is recognized for what it is (universally cringe), and all our weird fics become premium reading because people are hungry for human authenticity after years of slop-fuelled feeds… (That day is now btw)
There's something so volatile about the human form,
where one day you fall into the abyss and somehow you find a way to fall
into another abyss when you're in there
so yeah, I may have to find a way to tolerate a five hour drive to a surgeon for a condition that I already know I have
that is probably causing my body to fall the fuck apart
and maybe I'll be able to do it and
maybe not
the drive that is
but I keep trying to get through the days and all I find is hard stops
feelings I can't push through and
things I can't do
but something in it all seems worthwhile but
these 7 hour naps and 24 hour days are killing me and
I wake up in the night unsure if I want to go back to sleep because it's so bad
the nightmares and the pain and the
zero
distractions
so I write shitty poems and
hope someone finds themselves in them
whether or not I'll ever know
if they do
And I read the writing of others and
try to find myself
consider calling my mom and hope that life seems
less complicated to her
but it doesn't get easier the longer you're alive
it just gets different and so
we witness more horrors and
hope the writing is enough to cure us
At least as much as melatonin is a cure to insomnia
(it isn't
but sometimes
it helps)
and we try to take care of ourselves in the ways we can
even when there are very few things you can do nowadays
because somewhere deep down
you have convinced yourself life is worth living
and you want to keep that belief because
maybe the longer you believe it,
the more it will come true, but you don't
really know, so you
believe it anyway because
something is better than nothing these days
and hope is so often scarce, so maybe a little wouldn't
kill us
or maybe it would, but we can't think about all the possibilities so
tonight we think about the nature of being bd try to sleep again because something has to help
it has to
If I lived in a space opera universe I wouldn't want to be a protagonist. I would want to be someone who stands around a crowd scene and has one line referencing backstory we've never seen and will never see. I want to step forward and say shit like "conditions have not been this bad since the Zhavolian plagues" or "this does call to mind the darkest days of the B'Vash crisis - and I need not remind you how that ended" and then everyone would murmur in agreement. Like they know what I'm talking about. Even though no one does
Day 18
Fanfic is a great way to practice self-indulgence while writing. It doesn’t even have to be good, it just exists purely for your pleasure, be a little freak about it. Worry about quality and what other people think when it comes to works you intend to publish in a formal setting
