āI started out as a writer and a director. I started acting because I wanted to know how to relate to the actors. When people ask me what I do, I donāt really say that Iām an actor, because actors often wait for someone to give them roles.ā

GERTIE BROWN & SAINT SUTTLE āSomething Good-Negro Kiss,ā the newly discovered William Selig silent film from 1898 is believed to be the earliest cinematic depiction of African-American affection. Thanks to scholars at the University of Chicago and the University of Southern California, the footage is prompting a rethinking of early film history. The performance by cakewalk partnersĀ Saint Suttle and Gertie Brown is a reinterpretation of Thomas Edisonās āThe Kiss,ā featuring May Irwin and John Rice.Ā The film was announced December 12, 2018 as a new addition to the Library of Congressā National Film Registryāone of 25 selected for their enduring importance to American culture. The 29-second clip is free of stereotypes and racist caricatures, a stark contrast from the majority of black performances at the turn of the century.

Why isnāt there a sprawling epic tv drama about the Black power movement, the panthers, the nation of Islam, the black liberation army, and the Civil rights movement and how they interacted with each other and the United States government?
You can do a good solid 30 year chunk of history from 1955 - 1985. And have everything play out over 6 to 8 seasons.
It has all the elements you need to make good TV. Lots of murder, lots of corruption, lots of sex, marginalization of women, religion, drugs, hot people with Afros, and Pam Grier would be someoneās grandma on the show and we can see those big ass titties again.
Iām like, why isnāt this shit on TV already?
