let me find my voice she said, let me find my voice.she scrambled through her purse, pushing aside the pink clear lip gloss and headphones. bits and pieces of lint and crumbs stuck her fingers as she pawed through her bag. still nothing. my voice has to be somewhere, she thought checking the small pocket on the side of the bag. nothing. this is just great she cried silently to herself, I'm not sure where my voice went and now im stuck here all alone. it was the middle of the night, her apartment was effortlessly still and quiet. the cars whirred below and you could barely see the stars. Bianca sauntered to the balcony, tossing her bag at the couch. she was prone to losing her voice. she lost in when she dated men, changed her order at the Italian restaurant her friend loved so much, and she talked to her mother. but she didn't do any of those things for some reason. she actually was keeping a healthy attitude about it all. she went to the gym, ate well, focused all her mind on her studies. occasionally, she went out to see friends (no Italian resrtuant). but why today out of all days, she loses her voice today? her arms dangled from the balcony as she stared across the horizon. Bianca eyes gently closed, as she came in and out of sleep. her eyes closed, snippets of memories came to her. there was hands around her, an ice cream, a child's cry, and the local park blurring in her mind. it came fast and sudden, Bianca's eyes opened wide - she knew where her voice was. she grabbed her purse from the couch and slipped on her worn out nikes and head out the door.
Bianca arrived to the local park, which was a 10 minute walk from her apartment. It was 3 am when she got to the playground. The park was vast with small hills, a huge playground, and picnic benches scattered around. This was Bianca's favorite place to be. The playground was in full effect. Vinyl ropes, ladders and plastic slides spread across. With 3 swing sets and a hug pit of sand, it was every kid's dream.
now what I am looking for Bianca's eyes scanned the park, hungry looking for a sign. she closed her eyes again, hoping to see the visions when she was back home. a small snuffled cry tore the silence in the park. Bianca's eyes fluttered opened, she saw small girl with two thick brown plaits crying on the side of the sand pit. her knee was scarped and her cheeks where stained with tears.
Bianca walked towards the child, she saw her bloody knee and bent down. the little girl was wearing a blue denim dress and a small yellow cardigan. Bianca licked her thumb and scrubbed some the blood off the little girl's knee. "I'm sad" the little girl winced, "I am sad that no one heard me cry" tears swelled in her eyes. Bianca so badly wanted to tell the child she understood how she felt. when she's sad and no one hears her cry. but she couldn't. the little girl began to cry and wail. Her face turned red and puffy as she kicked and screamed. Snot dribbled from her nose. Bianca looked at the title girl and grabbed her and pulled her into her arms. she buried her face into the girl's hair. holding her tight. the little girl cries began to soften to a lull. there was no more crying. Bianca looked down at the little girl who looked right back up. they both had big green eyes. the little girl smiled at her and hugged her again. bianaca embraced the child in the lone hours of the night in the middle of the park.
Bianca sat on the ground as she kept squeezing the child, only to see the child was no longer in her arms. panicked, Bianca bolted up, looking fr the child. "Hello!" she shouted. She paused. did that voice come from me? her lip began to tremble- "Hello" she said again, softer. She felt the vibration of her voice leaving her throat - and out. Bianca began to cry. She found her voice again.
