hihi! ♡ welcome to my little blog corner!
i loveee writing sweet stories, so if you have something in mind, send a
request my way! got a question? don’t be shy to ask, i don’t bite hehe~
love you lots!! ttyl ♡
your writings are incredibly sweet--saccharinely so.. some of my favorites on tumblr :')
would love to see more high school bf riki works!! i think he really fits that trope..
You weren’t even cold, really. It was barely the end of September, and the air had just started to turn crisp. But the second you shivered, barely noticeable even to yourself, Riki caught it. You didn’t even register the motion until his hoodie was halfway over your head, his hands warm on your shoulders as he tugged it down gently.
“Wear it,” he said, like it wasn’t a question. “You’ll get sick.”
You opened your mouth to argue, because you had your sweater in your bag, because his hoodie practically swallowed you whole, because he didn’t even hesitate, but the words dissolved the second you smelled it. It smelled like him. Like laundry detergent and green apple shampoo and the lemony hint of gum he always chewed during physics.
“You planning on stealing this?” he teased, watching you roll up the sleeves.
“I might.”
“I’m okay with that,” he said, and for a second, the playful glint in his eyes softened. He looked at you like he wanted to say something else. Like a thousand unsaid things were sitting behind his quiet gaze. But instead, he leaned back on his hands and said, “It looks better on you anyway.”
You wore it for the rest of the day. Through fifth period. Through after-school practice. Through your walk home. You tried to give it back later, held it out to him under the streetlight outside your building.
He shook his head. “Keep it.”
You did. And even weeks later, when you were curled up on your bed with a million things on your mind, slipping it back on made you feel a little lighter. Like he was there. Like it meant something. And maybe it did.
════════════════════════════════════════════
His Locker, Your Notes
It started with one note. Just a small sticky one with a doodle of a sleepy cat and the words “You’ve got this. Today’s gonna be a good day <3” written in lilac pen. You stuck it through the slats in Riki’s locker before homeroom, heart pounding like it was some grand confession.
He didn’t say anything that day. But the next morning, his locker was different.
Your note was taped inside, right at the top. And beside it was a new one, his handwriting, messier than yours, in blue pen: “You’re a better artist than me. Also, good luck on your quiz :)”
After that, it became a thing. You’d pass each other during break and grin like you were in on a secret. You started folding the notes into little origami hearts. He started using gel pens in ridiculous colours; neon green, glittery gold, and navy blue. Sometimes they were just one-liners: “Today’s sandwich sucked, but at least I saw you.” Or “I didn’t get to talk to you much today. Made me kinda grumpy.”
Sometimes, the notes were longer. He’d tell you about something funny Jake said, or about how he liked the way your laugh echoed in the hallways. One time, he wrote:
“I had a dream where we went on a road trip and you made us stop every ten minutes to take pictures. It wasn’t annoying. It was kinda perfect.”
You kept every single one. And even though neither of you said it aloud, you knew this wasn’t just a cute routine. This was something else. Something closer to love than either of you wanted to admit.
════════════════════════════════════════════
The Fake Dating Game That Wasn’t (before you guys got together)
It started as a joke.
You were sitting in the courtyard, picking at a bag of chips, when Riki leaned over and whispered, “Wanna mess with them?” He tilted his chin toward your group of friends, who were side-eyeing the two of you like something was going on.
You raised an eyebrow. “Mess with them how?”
He just smirked, looping his arm around your shoulders like it was the easiest thing in the world. “Let’s pretend we’re dating. Just for fun.”
So you played along.
You held his hand in the hallway. He saved you a seat in every class, always scooting his desk closer than necessary. During lunch, he poked your cheeks until you laughed. During gym, he carried your water bottle like it was second nature.
People started whispering. “Are they a thing now?”
“Since when did they get so close?”
“They’re so obvious.”
You both ignored it. But somewhere between the fake flirting and “accidental” hand-holding, things started to shift. The lines blurred. You caught yourself watching him when he wasn’t looking. He started memorizing your schedule, always showing up two minutes before you needed him.
One afternoon, while you were waiting for the late bus, you leaned against his shoulder and asked, “Are we still pretending?”
He didn’t answer right away. Just stared at the horizon for a bit, then said, “Do you want to stop?”
You turned to him. “No.”
He smiled. Not teasing, not smug. Just soft. Like he’d been waiting for that answer all along.
════════════════════════════════════════════
The Morning Walks
Ni-ki didn’t believe in being on time. He believed in being early. “Being on time is just being late with extra steps,” he told you once, sipping his convenience store iced coffee like a full-grown adult. “And you’re always late.”
You had been.
Until he started waiting for you at the corner near your house every morning.
The first time, he pretended it was a coincidence. “Oh? You live around here?”
The second time, he brought two drinks: one coffee, one milk tea. “Didn’t know what you wanted.”
The third time, he didn’t say anything. Just handed you your usual, asked how you slept, and made fun of your bedhead before ruffling it even worse.
It became routine.
You walked to school next to him each day, shoes scuffing the pavement, his bag slung over one shoulder while yours swung between you. He’d say dumb things like, “I wonder if we get free coffee on our 100th day buying stuff from the cafe”, and laugh when you rolled your eyes.
But then he’d nudge you gently with his elbow, or walk on the roadside of the sidewalk without making a fuss, or tilt his umbrella to make sure you stayed dry.
So maybe it was dumb.
But you never minded waking up early again.
════════════════════════════════════════════
The Mid-Test Love Notes
You weren’t supposed to talk during tests.
But that didn’t stop Ni-ki from slipping you folded notes under your desk.
It started with small doodles, stick figures of your teacher or cartoon versions of you both, drawn with exaggerated features and speech bubbles saying things like, “I’m gonna fail LOL.”
You nearly laughed out loud once, trying to stifle your grin behind your test paper.
The next week, the doodles turned into messages.
“Remember to breathe. You got this.”
“You studied hard. I believe in you.”
“If you score higher than me, I’ll buy you dinner.”
You tried to glare at him after class. “You’re going to get me in trouble.”
But he just winked. “What’s life without a little risk?”
Then, on the midterm, there was no note.
Until the very end.
When you flipped over the last page of your paper, a heart sticker was stuck to the back. No message. Just that. Pink and shiny and slightly ridiculous.
When you turned around, Ni-ki was already smiling.
And your heart was already gone.
════════════════════════════════════════════
The Rain Run
You hated getting wet. Like, irrationally hated it. You’d rather run a mile in the heat than walk five minutes in the rain.
So, of course, the one day you forgot your umbrella, the skies opened up like a scene from a drama.
You stood under the school gate, backpack hugged to your chest, watching the water pour in sheets.
Ni-ki appeared beside you, shaking out his own umbrella. “You didn’t check the forecast?”
You gave him a flat look.
“Hop under,” he said, tilting the umbrella toward you.
You looked at the size of it, then at the distance you had to walk. “It’s not gonna cover both of us.”
“Well,” he said, “guess we’ll just have to run.”
He grabbed your wrist before you could protest.
You shrieked.
The both of you bolted down the sidewalk, Ni-ki laughing like a maniac, umbrella doing absolutely nothing to help. The rain soaked your sleeves, hit your cheeks, but you were laughing too hard to care. He kept glancing at you, like he was making sure you were still having fun.
You stopped at the convenience store, breathless and soaked. He looked at you, water dripping from his hair.
“You’re still pretty cute, even when you look like a wet cat,” he teased.
You threw a napkin at him.
════════════════════════════════════════════
The Sleepy Movie Nights
He always wanted to pick the horror movies.
You always tried to veto.
“Come on,” Ni-ki said, “you’ll be fine. I’ll be here.”
You sat on the couch, arms crossed, blanket tucked up to your chin like a shield. “If I cry, it’s your fault.”
“Deal.”
Twenty minutes in, you were clutching his arm. Thirty minutes in, you were practically in his lap. At some point, you buried your face in his hoodie, too scared to look.
“Are you even watching?” he whispered.
“No,” you muttered.
He chuckled, arm curling protectively around you, fingers brushing your shoulder. “You’re really scared, huh?”
You nodded.
Then he reached for the remote.
“Let’s just watch something else,” he said softly. “I was mostly watching you anyway.”
You looked up at him, eyes wide. “HEY?!”
But he didn’t say anything, instead chuckling to the side. Just clicked on a Studio Ghibli movie, then pulled the blanket tighter around you both.
“You’re so annoying,” you murmured as you drifted off, head on his shoulder.
“Yeah, yeah,” he whispered, brushing your hair back. “I know.”
bsf!ni-ki but him & the reader acts more like girlfriend and boyfriend
best friends who act like lovers
PAIRING… bestfriend! Ni-ki x bestfriend! reader | GENRE… fluff | TROPE… bestfriends who act like a couple
They have “their” song
It started as a joke when "Bewitched" by Laufey came on during a walk home, and Ni-ki sang the chorus dramatically at her. Now, months later, it's their unofficial anthem. Whenever it plays, in a café, on a playlist, in the background of a TikTok, they instantly look at each other and grin. It's muscle memory now, the way she hums it when she sees him approaching, and the way he responds with a dramatic twirl or a wink.
He adjusts her hoodie string or necklace
She didn’t even notice it was uneven until Ni-ki reached over and gently fixed it, brushing her collarbone with his knuckle in the process. “Can’t have you out here lookin’ messy,” he smirked, as if his heart wasn’t thudding louder than his playlist. She blinked up at him, momentarily frozen, but the moment passed as quickly as it came.
They FaceTime every night
Sometimes they barely talk, just the soft clicks of keyboards and the occasional sigh. She once drifted off mid-conversation, and when she woke up, he was still there on the screen, eyes closed, head tilted to the side. Since then, she makes sure to say "goodnight" even if her eyes are heavy. He always replies, "Sweet dreams, brat."
She naps on his shoulder
It always starts with, "Just five minutes, Ni-ki," and ends with her head tucked into the crook of his neck, breathing slow and even. He doesn’t move a muscle, even if his arm goes numb. He just leans back, scrolls through his phone, and secretly smiles when she mutters his name in her sleep.
She steals his hoodies
Every time she 'borrows' one, she swears she’ll return it. But weeks later, he sees her wearing it at school, sleeves long over her hands. "That mine?" he teases. She just shrugs with a smug little smile. He pretends to grumble, but keeps bringing new ones just in case.
They get "jokingly" jealous
When a girl flirts with Ni-ki, she suddenly becomes very invested in her phone. Ni-ki notices. Later, when she compliments a boy’s hair, he goes quiet, then blurts, "It’s not even that cool." Their friends roll their eyes, but the tension lingers just long enough to be noticeable.
He holds her hand in crowds
It’s automatic. Busy halls, loud events, he just reaches back and finds her hand without looking. She squeezes once. He squeezes twice. They never talk about it, but neither of them lets go until they’re out in the open again.
They go on “not dates”
They’ll spend hours at a bookstore, giggling at weird titles, sharing earbuds as they flip through poetry. When the barista asks, “Are you two together?” Ni-ki answers, “Friends,” but he doesn’t look her in the eye. She just laughs and nudges his shoulder.
He fixes her eyeliner or clips her hair
“Hold still,” he says, licking his thumb to smudge the uneven wing on her eyeliner. She winces. “Ew, Ni-ki!” He laughs. “Relax, I’m doing God’s work.” Moments like these feel too intimate for two people who are "just friends," but neither of them pulls away.
Inside jokes no one else gets
They’ll burst into laughter mid-class when someone says something vaguely similar to a joke they made weeks ago. Everyone else is confused. They don’t bother explaining. Some moments aren’t meant to be shared.
Matching lock screens
They once edited a picture of their hands holding bubble tea with dumb emojis and saved it as a joke. But weeks later, when she checked his phone, it was still there. So was hers. Neither of them changed it.
He spoils her
“Didn’t you say you liked those cookies last month?” he says, handing her a box without fanfare. When she looks confused, he shrugs. “They were on sale.” She knows they weren’t. He just remembers the small things.
They share everything
He doesn’t think twice about taking a sip from her straw, and she always grabs a second fork at lunch because she knows he’ll want a bite. It's unspoken, they belong in each other's space.
He defends her
When someone teases her too harshly, Ni-ki steps in with a simple, "Not cool." His voice is calm, but his stare is sharp. He doesn’t raise his voice, but the message is clear. She never hears that joke again.
He drops everything when she’s upset
Once, she texted him, "Can you come?" after a horrible day. Ten minutes later, he was outside with a hoodie, chocolate, and a playlist. “You don’t have to talk,” he said. “Just sit with me.” And they did—in silence, under the stars, like it was their own little world.
PAIRING… student! Jungwon x student ! reader | GENRE… fluff | TROPE… “who did this to you?” | WC… 1.4k | PART 1
You don’t know how long you’ve been staring at his knuckles. There’s a soft rust-colored bandage wrapped over them now, sloppy and loose from where you’d fumbled to tie it last night. His hands are folded on his desk, clenched just slightly, like even now, even in class, he hasn’t quite calmed down. You haven’t either. The words are still ringing in your ears. “I’ve liked you for a long time.”
You didn’t sleep. Not really. You’d gone over it again and again, like rewinding a cassette tape just to make sure the song still sounded the same. He said he liked you. And he meant it. The bell rings, and students rush out in waves. You stay seated, notebook open but untouched.
He’s still in his seat, too. You sneak a glance at him. He’s already looking at you.
"Hey," Jungwon says softly. Your heart jumps. You wish it wouldn't. "You free right now?" he adds.
You nod before your mouth catches up. “Yeah.”
“Cool. I… Can we talk?” He hesitates. “Outside?”
You follow him out of the classroom. The hallway is quiet now, a lazy sunbeam stretching through the windows and painting your shadows across the tiled floor. He doesn’t say anything at first, just walks beside you until you're standing by the stairwell, tucked out of sight. He leans against the railing, his shoulder barely brushing yours. Close, but not too close.
“I didn’t mean to scare you yesterday,” he says.
“You didn’t.” He looks down, his jaw tightening.
“I shouldn’t have grabbed him like that. I wasn’t thinking straight.”
You blink. “Jungwon…”
“I'm not apologizing for caring. Just… how I showed it.” He glances at you again, softer this time.
“You never told me what really happened.” You stare at your shoes. “It’s fine now,” you mumble.
“He just grabbed my wrist a little hard. He thought I was—” You stop.
You don’t want to say it. Jungwon doesn’t press.
Instead, he says, “I still want to punch him. But I won’t.” A breath escapes your lips. It’s almost a laugh. You look up. His eyes are fixed on you—warm, serious, like he’s not letting you brush this off.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” he asks.
“Because I knew you’d do something about it,” you admit. “And I didn’t want you to get in trouble.”
His jaw tightens again. But not at you. “Too late,” he mutters. “Kind of already did.”
Your eyes widen. “What?”
“I got called in by the coach this morning,” he sighs. “Someone saw me drag that guy behind the gym. I didn’t touch him, so it’s not that serious, but…”
You feel a twist of guilt in your chest. “Jungwon, I’m—”
He shakes his head quickly. “Don’t. You’re not the one who did something wrong.”
Silence settles between you again. He looks at you, then sighs, brushing a hand through his hair, ruffling it. “This isn’t how I wanted to tell you.” “What?” “That I like you.” Your breath catches. “I meant it,” he says. “I meant all of it. I like you. I have for a while.”
You look at him. He’s not looking away this time. He’s standing still, saying it plain and honest like it’s just a fact of the world. “I didn’t say anything because we were just... kind of friends. I didn’t want to make things weird. Or make you feel like you had to do something about it.” You chew your lip, unsure what to say.
His voice is calm, but there’s something nervous behind his eyes. “So,” he finishes, a little too quickly, “if you don’t feel the same, it’s okay. I just wanted you to know.”
You take a breath. And then you say it. “I do.”
Jungwon blinks. “What?” “I like you too.” It comes out small. Scared. But honest. Jungwon doesn’t react for a second. Like he’s short-circuiting. Then the corners of his lips tug into the softest, most stunned smile you’ve ever seen on him. “You do?” “I do.” His smile breaks fully now, bright and giddy and so un-Jungwon in the most heart-melting way.
“You could’ve told me first, you know.” “You could’ve,” you shoot back, half-laughing.
He huffs a breath. “Touché.”
Another silence. This one gentler. You both stand there in the stairwell, grinning like fools, hearts fluttering so loud it feels like they’re echoing down the hall.
“Wanna skip the next class?” he asks suddenly. You blink.
“You? Mr. perfect?”
He shrugs, playful. “They won’t kick me out for one period.”
You laugh again. “Where would we even go?” “There’s a vending machine by the back gate,” he says.
“I’ll buy you the cheap milk bread you always eat during study hall.” Your heart does a full somersault.
“You noticed that?” He shrugs again, but his ears turn a little pink. You smile. “Alright. Let’s go.” ════════════════════════════════════════════ The sun is warmer out here, the sky soft and sleepy. You and Jungwon walk side by side, plastic bread packets in hand, sipping on banana milk like it’s your first date. Maybe it is. He nudges you with his shoulder.
“You know, I thought you liked that guy.” You nearly choke.
“What?!” “The one you were talking to. Before all this.” You make a face.
“No. He just started asking weird questions and got pushy. I didn’t even want to talk to him.” Jungwon’s jaw clenches again. You gently poke his arm.
“Hey.” He blinks. “I’m glad you care,” you say.
“But I want you to know… I can handle myself too. Most of the time.” “I know.” “But thanks for being there when I couldn’t.” His eyes soften. “Anytime.”
You both finish your snacks, toss the wrappers, and sit on the curb behind the school. It’s quiet back here. Peaceful. Your shoulders brush again. Jungwon turns his head to look at you. You do the same.
“I’m not really good at romance,” he says suddenly. “Like the… sappy stuff.”
“You just threatened a guy for me and then skipped class to buy me banana milk.” He pauses. “So I’m doing okay?”
You grin. “You’re doing perfect.”
You stay like that for a long time. Talking about dumb things. Laughing about teachers. Making jokes about how you’re both technically breaking school rules. When the warning bell rings for next period, he stands and holds out a hand. You take it. He doesn’t let go even when you're back inside. ════════════════════════════════════════════ Later, when your friends start whispering and teasing in the hallway, he just smiles through it.
Doesn’t even deny it. Someone asks, “So what’s going on with you two now?”
And Jungwon just looks at you, leans down a little, and says with a grin, “So what if I like her?” Your face goes pink.
Your friends scream. And Jungwon? He just laughs and squeezes your hand.
PAIRING… student! Jungwon x student ! reader | GENRE… angst to eventual fluff | TROPE… “who did this to you?” | WC… 1.0k | PART 2
It was supposed to be a normal afternoon.
The bell had rung, and students spilled out of classrooms as usual. You lingered by the stairs, laughing, too hard maybe, at something a boy said. He stood a little too close. His hand reached toward your arm like it had every right to.
Jungwon wasn’t watching you at first. He had just come out of the student council room with a stack of reports under one arm and earbuds in, scrolling through messages on his phone.
But then he saw you.
You. And that guy.
He couldn’t hear what you were saying, but you looked uncomfortable. The way your body leaned away from the boy while your face tried to keep the peace set off something cold and sharp in Jungwon’s stomach.
Still, he didn’t go over. It wasn’t his business. He wasn’t your boyfriend. You were just the girl who always nodded politely at him during student leader meetings. The one who handled club fundraisers with annoying efficiency. The one who never really looked at him, unless she had to.
So he looked away.
Later, when he passed you by the lockers, you weren’t laughing anymore. You were quiet. Tired. And you kept tugging your sleeve down like it was a nervous habit.
He almost let you go again. Almost.
But something about the way you wouldn’t meet anyone’s eyes, like you were shrinking into yourself, made him stop walking.
“Wait,” he said.
You turned your head slowly. “Yeah?”
Jungwon stepped closer. Close enough that you flinched slightly. Not obviously, but he caught it. You crossed your arms. Or maybe just tried to cover your wrist.
His voice dropped. “Who did this to you?”
You blinked, and your smile reappeared too quickly. It didn’t reach your eyes.
“What?”
He nodded at your sleeve. “Your wrist. You’ve been hiding it since lunch.”
Your eyes flickered down. “Oh. It’s nothing. I—banged it against a table. Clumsy.”
Jungwon didn’t say anything. Just watched you. The silence stretched long enough that you sighed and tried to laugh it off again.
“I’m fine. Really. It’s not a big deal.”
But he could see the redness blooming under the fabric, the faint outline of a bruise that wasn’t from bumping into furniture.
He stepped aside to let you pass, but his jaw tightened. And his hands curled into fists.
You didn’t know it, but Jungwon had seen the guy too.
He knew his name.
And he wasn’t going to let it slide.
════════════════════════════════════════════
The back of the gym was always quiet after school. No cameras. No teachers. Just empty halls and metal fences.
Jungwon waited.
The guy showed up eventually, earbuds in, completely unaware.
Jungwon didn’t shout. Didn’t make a scene. He just walked up, grabbed the guy by the collar, and pushed him up against the brick wall. Calm. Controlled.
“You touched her.”
The guy blinked, confused, until he realized who Jungwon was talking about. Then he smirked.
“What, you jealous? She’s not yours.”
Jungwon didn’t flinch. “She told you no.”
“She didn’t say anything.”
“She didn’t have to.”
There was a beat of silence. The guy tried to shove him back, but Jungwon’s hand tightened. Not enough to hurt. Just enough to scare him.
“If you ever go near her again,” Jungwon said quietly, “I won’t hold back next time.”
Something about the way he said it, the cold steadiness of it, like a promise instead of a threat, made the guy’s smirk falter.
Jungwon let go and stepped back.
He didn’t throw a single punch. Opting for a rather hard push.
But the guy looked shaken as he stumbled away, as if his life was on the line.
════════════════════════════════════════════
Later that evening, you found Jungwon by the vending machines, shaking out a bandage from the tiny first aid kit in the corner of the hallway.
“What happened?” you asked.
He looked up like he hadn’t expected you.
You reached for his hand without thinking and hissed when you saw the bruises across his knuckles.
“You punched someone?”
“No.”
You gave him a look.
He relented. “I might’ve... shoved someone into a wall.”
You stared at him.
He stared back.
Neither of you said anything for a second.
Then you grabbed the alcohol wipe from his kit and sat beside him on the bench, taking his hand gently. He didn’t pull away.
You cleaned the bruises in silence. His skin was warm, tense under your touch. You were careful, but he winced anyway.
“You shouldn’t have done that,” you whispered.
He didn’t answer.
You pressed the bandage against his knuckles and glanced up. “You could’ve gotten in trouble.”
“Worth it.”
You blinked. “Why?”
He didn’t mean to say it.
He really didn’t.
But it slipped out, low and quiet like it had been waiting in his throat for too long.
“Because I like you.”
Your breath caught.
He looked away, like he regretted saying it immediately.
“You don’t get it,” he muttered. “I’ve liked you for a long time. And seeing you with him... I couldn’t just ignore it.”
You didn’t know what to say.
So you didn’t.
You just finished bandaging his hand and held onto it a little longer than necessary.
════════════════════════════════════════════
That night, Jungwon couldn’t sleep.
Not because he’d said it.
But because he didn’t know what you’d say back.
And maybe that was worse.
Because now that the truth was out, all he could do was wait.
And hope that when you showed up to school tomorrow, you wouldn’t pretend nothing happened.

PAIRING… taekwondo club head! counter (inspired by the uncanny counter)! Jungwon x student president! reader | GENRE… fluff, slight angst, falling in love | TROPE… acquaintances to lovers | WC… 4.0k | Requested by @therealmrsyang
The walls of the conference room were too white. Not a soft white, but a harsh, hospital kind of white that made everyone look a little tired, a little more annoyed than they probably were. You sat at the center of the long table, back straight, fingers laced loosely over the student council folder in front of you. The pages inside were tabbed and color-coded, like always.
You were early. You always were. That came with the title, and you carried it like a second skin now: Student Council President.
Across from you, a few seats down, Jungwon walked in with his duffel bag still slung over one shoulder. His black school jacket was unzipped over a crisp white shirt, sleeves rolled up neatly. You knew him, of course. Everyone did. Head of the Taekwondo Club. Polite. Distant. Always surrounded by people, but somehow still hard to reach.
He nodded at you when your eyes met. Not a smile, not quite a greeting. Just a quiet acknowledgement, like two people who existed in the same orbit, but never quite collided. You nodded back.
The meeting began with the usual round of introductions and complaints. Teachers filing in, the faculty advisor droning through the first few agenda items. You didn’t speak unless you needed to. Jungwon didn’t either.
Until halfway through the meeting, when the topic of the gym incident came up.
One of the freshmen from the Taekwondo Club had gotten into a shouting match with a senior from the Basketball Team during practice hours. No punches thrown, but it was loud enough to bring a teacher running.
The faculty advisor looked up from the incident report.
"Jungwon, you were there."
He sat straighter. "Yes, sir."
"Care to explain?"
Jungwon’s voice was calm, steady. He didn’t sugarcoat it. Said the freshman was new, overenthusiastic, had misunderstood something the basketball senior said. That he stepped in before it escalated. That no one got hurt. That he’d handled it.
You watched the way his jaw tightened when he spoke, like he hated having to defend the club. Like he’d done this before.
"And you didn’t think it necessary to report this immediately?"
Jungwon looked up. His eyes didn’t waver. "Because I resolved it, sir."
You spoke up for the first time. "There’s no mark on either student’s record. Doesn’t that mean the resolution was effective?"
The room went silent. You weren’t defending him, not really. Just pointing out the obvious. But Jungwon’s eyes flicked to you for the briefest second.
The meeting moved on.
Afterward, most of the others filtered out quickly, relieved to get on with their evenings. You stayed behind, gathering your papers. You didn’t look up when you heard the duffel bag drop on the floor next to you.
"You didn’t have to say anything."
His voice was low, careful.
You glanced at him. "I know. I just didn’t see the point in dragging it out."
He nodded once. "Thanks."
That was it. No small talk. No comment on how annoying the meeting had been, or how tired you both looked under those awful white lights. He just picked up his bag and left.
The next time you saw him, it was two days later.
Your last class had ended early, and you had about thirty minutes to kill before the council check-in meeting. The gym hallway echoed with muffled sounds—footsteps on mats, the low grunts of impact.
The Taekwondo Club was mid-session.
You paused at the double doors. No one noticed you watching.
Jungwon was at the center of the mat, sparring with another upperclassman. He wasn’t showy. No over-the-top spinning kicks or shouting. Just precise movements, sharp counterattacks that landed with silent efficiency. He moved like someone who had practiced for years, who had learned control before power. His eyes didn’t leave his opponent’s form for a second.
The second the match ended, he bowed, pulled off his mouthguard, and immediately corrected the other boy’s stance with a few short words and gestures. The other boy nodded, adjusted, and tried again.
You didn’t realize how long you had been standing there until he glanced up.
You looked away quickly, pretending to check your phone.
When you turned to leave, his voice reached you before you could take a step.
"You can come in if you want."
You turned back. He wasn’t smiling, but there was no coldness in his face either.
"Just watching," you said, holding up your hands.
"That’s fine."
You stood at the edge of the mat for another ten minutes. He didn’t speak to you again, but he knew you were there. Every so often, when giving directions or correcting posture, he’d glance at you like he was making sure you weren’t bored.
You weren’t.
That weekend, your advisor asked you to help plan the interschool leadership camp. That meant you had to coordinate with club heads across departments.
Of course Taekwondo was on the list.
You found Jungwon near the vending machines Monday morning, towel around his neck and hair damp from training.
"Leadership camp," you said.
He raised an eyebrow.
"They want each club to plan a ten-minute workshop."
He didn’t answer right away. Then, "Alright. Want to meet after school?"
You nodded. "Library, third floor."
He didn’t ask why you were doing all this yourself. Didn’t say anything about how annoying it must be.
Later, in the library, he was five minutes early. You weren’t used to that. Most people you worked with showed up late, or forgot, or gave excuses. Jungwon showed up like he said he would.
You planned the workshop in silence at first. You typed. He thought. Then, surprisingly, he spoke.
"You’re not what I expected."
You looked up. "What did you expect?"
He considered that. "Someone scarier."
You laughed. "Why? Because I run the council like a dictatorship?"
"Because no one ever argues with you."
You smiled. "Maybe they’re just scared I’ll put a demerit on their record."
He didn’t smile, but the corner of his mouth twitched like he almost did.
"You’re good at this," he said quietly.
"At what?"
"Making people listen without raising your voice."
You blinked. No one had said that to you before. Most people just called you bossy behind your back.
You looked down at the plan again. "You’re good at teaching. Your club listens to you."
"They’re not listening to me," he said. "They’re listening to the belt."
"You mean your rank?"
He nodded. "It’s easier to follow someone when you know how long they’ve been fighting."
You tilted your head. "How long have you been fighting?"
He looked at you. Really looked.
"Since I was eight."
You waited. He didn’t say more.
The session ended with a drafted plan and a shared silence that didn’t feel awkward anymore.
Three days later, during the lunch break, your friend poked you in the ribs.
"Why is Jungwon staring at you?"
You blinked. "What?"
"He’s looking this way. And he never looks at anyone. He’s like a monk."
You looked across the courtyard. Jungwon was sitting with his clubmates, half-listening to someone talk. And yes, he was looking at you. Not staring, not zoning out. Just...watching.
When he noticed you looking back, he didn’t look away.
Your friend nearly screamed.
"Are you two dating?"
You laughed. "No. We’re not even friends."
She narrowed her eyes. "You sure about that?"
You weren’t.
That evening, as you left school late after a council meeting, the sky was dark and the campus mostly empty. Your phone buzzed.
A message.
From Jungwon.
Library rooftop. If you’re still here.
You didn’t hesitate.
He was sitting on the low ledge, back against the railing, arms resting on his knees. The wind made his hair fall into his eyes.
You sat down beside him without a word.
He didn’t look at you.
"I got into a fight when I was ten," he said.
You stayed quiet.
"It was stupid. A kid kept mocking my shoes. I told him to stop. He didn’t. I snapped."
You glanced at him.
"I broke his nose."
The wind picked up.
"My instructor suspended me from class for a month," he said. "He said strength without control wasn’t power. It was danger."
You didn’t say anything.
"Since then," he said, voice softer, "I stopped fighting to win. I fight to counter. To end it quickly, with the least harm."
That explained a lot.
You looked at him. Really looked.
He met your gaze. And for once, it felt like you were both in the same place.
Your phone buzzed again. A message from the council chat. An emergency.
You stood quickly. "I have to go."
He nodded. "Go."
As you left, you glanced back.
He was still sitting there, eyes on the skyline.
You didn’t know why, but it felt like something had shifted.
════════════════════════════════════════════
You didn’t expect him to miss the Monday meeting.
Jungwon was never late, never absent, and never the type to leave responsibilities hanging in the air like that. You kept glancing toward the empty seat beside the Taekwondo club report, hoping he’d suddenly appear, hair ruffled from running through the halls.
He didn’t.
And for the rest of the day, something gnawed at you. Not just because you had to fill in his section of the updates during the committee meeting, but because… he didn’t text to apologise. Didn’t even open the club group chat. It wasn’t like him, even as acquaintances, even with your mildly formal dynamic, there was always some form of acknowledgement.
It was day two when you overheard it in the hallway:
“Yeah, apparently Jungwon got into another fight.”
“No way. That’s like, the third time this month?”
“He disappeared right after. Like actually gone. Creepy.”
You paused, textbook halfway into your locker.
A fight?
Jungwon wasn’t the kind of guy who got into fights. He broke them up. De-escalated them. You knew him as sharp, calm, quiet… but never reckless.
So why did your gut twist like you were missing something bigger?
It wasn’t until Thursday evening that you saw him again.
The gym was dark except for the emergency lights buzzing overhead. You were walking past after a student council prep session when the dull thud-thud of movement made you pause. You peeked inside the open doorway, expecting maybe a janitor, or a first-year stuck cleaning equipment… but then you saw him.
Jungwon.
In his dobok, barefoot, knuckles red.
Moving through patterns with precision that didn’t look like practice, it looked like he was fighting something invisible. His footwork was rapid, tighter than what he ever showed in Taekwondo club showcases. More desperate. Sharp kicks, fast spins, fists landing with explosive power on empty air.
You stepped inside without realizing.
He didn’t notice until his final movement—a high kick that landed with a harsh exhale, and his head snapped toward you like instinct.
Your voice caught in your throat.
“I—I was just…”
He relaxed slightly. Still breathing heavily.
You’d never seen him like this.
Sweat-drenched. Worn. Tired in a way that didn’t feel physical.
“You alright?” you asked softly, stepping closer. “People said you were in a fight.”
He didn’t answer at first. Just looked at you like he was trying to figure out what version of himself to show.
Then: “I handled it.”
You blinked. “Handled it?”
“That’s what I do.”
That’s what he does?
Something in your chest twisted again.
You crossed your arms, unsure how to respond. “You’ve been skipping responsibilities. Meetings. Your club’s falling behind on prep for the spring showcase.”
“I know.”
“And people are talking.”
“They always talk,” he said, too quickly.
You stared. “This isn’t like you.”
He gave you a look then, something unreadable. A flicker of something like guilt… or regret.
“It’s not something you’d understand.”
That made your jaw tighten. “You don’t know what I’d understand.”
Silence. The gym buzzed low, the only sound between you.
Then, almost too quietly to hear:
“I didn’t choose this.”
You frowned. “Choose what?”
But he didn’t answer. He just walked past you, towel slung around his shoulders, like he couldn’t stay in the same space with that question hanging between you.
════════════════════════════════════════════
It came together slowly after that.
You started noticing things you didn’t before. Jungwon slipping out early from school. Disappearing right after dark. Unexplained bruises. His reflexes faster than anyone else’s in gym. The way he tensed whenever someone so much as mentioned rumors.
And the dreams.
They started that weekend. Strange, blurry dreams of shadows. Red smoke curling in hallways. Screaming.
You’d wake up breathless, disoriented, heart pounding like you’d been running. Always with the image of red eyes burned into the back of your mind.
You didn’t believe in ghosts. Or monsters. Or weird sixth-sense energy stuff.
But when you saw Jungwon again the next Monday, really saw him, in the back stairwell during lunch, leaning against the wall with his hands scraped and blood drying at his collarbone, you knew this wasn’t normal.
“You need to talk to me,” you said, not bothering to hide your concern.
He didn’t even look surprised to see you.
“I told you. You wouldn’t get it.”
“Try me.”
He closed his eyes. For a second, it looked like he might walk away again.
But he didn’t.
He opened them slowly and whispered the word like it was forbidden:
“Counter.”
You blinked. “Counter?”
He nodded. “I hunt spirits. Evil ones. Possessive. The kind that… feed on people’s hatred. Regret. They’re real. And they’re here.”
You stared. Expecting a punchline. A joke.
None came.
“You’re serious.”
“I wish I wasn’t.”
You didn’t speak for a while. Just stood there, taking him in. How tired he looked. How his eyes didn’t flinch.
“How long?”
“Since I was thirteen.”
You took a slow breath. “That’s why you’re always gone. The fights. The bruises.”
“And the lies,” he added.
You hated how calm he sounded. Like he’d resigned himself to a life where this was normal.
“You shouldn’t have to do this alone.”
He looked at you then, not like a fellow student council member. Not like a casual acquaintance. But like someone who wasn’t used to being seen.
“I do,” he said. “That’s how it works.”
You wanted to argue, but the words got stuck in your throat.
Because the air between you had shifted. Because you suddenly realized how little you really knew him.
Because the shadows from your dream flickered behind your eyes.
════════════════════════════════════════════
That night, you followed him.
You told yourself it was because you wanted to understand. To help. But deep down, maybe you were afraid.
Afraid that what he said was true.
That the world was darker than you thought.
You trailed him across town, ducking behind corners and hiding in alleyways. He moved like he knew where he was going, eyes alert, steps silent. You almost lost him twice.
Then he stopped in front of an abandoned bookstore.
Went inside.
You hesitated only for a moment before slipping in after him.
What you saw made your heart freeze.
Jungwon. Standing in the centre of the room. Facing something that looked like a man, but was not. His face was twisted, his eyes glowing, and he moved with inhuman speed.
The thing lunged.
You screamed.
Jungwon turned. And in a blur of motion, he blocked the attack with a roundhouse kick so fast it echoed through the empty shelves.
“Get out!” he shouted at you.
But your legs wouldn’t move.
The spirit snarled, shifting its attention to you.
You were going to die.
And then Jungwon was between you.
Not just fighting… protecting.
Every move was sharper than anything you’d seen in the gym. There was a red glow around him, faint but real. His body moved like he was trained for this exact kind of horror.
And he was.
════════════════════════════════════════════
The air outside the school was thick with late-evening humidity. The campus lights cast long shadows on the empty courtyard as you and Jungwon walked side by side, not speaking.
He had saved your life. Again. This time, from something you couldn’t explain.
You kept seeing that glint in his eyes, a red, glowing light. His knuckles were bloodied, but he didn’t look hurt. He hadn’t flinched when that spirit, or whatever it was, lunged for you. He just moved.
You stopped walking, finally turning to face him.
“You’re not going to tell me what that was?” you asked softly, trying to steady your voice. It trembled anyway.
Jungwon looked up at the sky for a moment like he was checking if it was safe to talk. “Not here.”
“Where, then?” Your tone came out sharper than you meant.
He gave you that same unreadable look. “Follow me.”
You ended up on the roof of the school, the highest point of the building, barely lit by the moon. The city buzzed far below, uncaring. Jungwon sat down first, stretching out his legs and looking strangely calm.
“I’m a Counter,” he said, almost too casually. “There’s a team of us. We fight evil spirits.”
You blinked.
“I know it sounds crazy,” he added quickly, not even looking at you. “But that thing in the alley… it wasn’t human. It used to be. Spirits like that feed on rage and pain until there’s nothing left. When they possess people, they kill.”
“And… you just fight them?” You hugged your knees to your chest. “Alone?”
He shook his head. “I have a team. But I’ve been handling the ones near school lately. It’s safer if no one else gets involved.”
You were silent.
Then, a laugh escaped your lips. Disbelieving. “You mean to tell me that while I’ve been planning spirit days and managing budgets, you’ve been fighting literal demons?”
He smiled, tired, real. “Yeah. Kind of.”
“And when did this start?”
“Three years ago. I was scouted after an incident. A guy attacked my family, he was possessed. I got involved… I survived. The others found me.”
You stared at him. Suddenly, the bruises, the absences, the way he always seemed on edge made sense.
You realized how little you actually knew about Jungwon. The student leader, the Taekwondo captain. The guy who always avoided attention. And the guy who, for whatever reason, had just risked his life for you.
“I can’t tell anyone, can I?” you murmured.
“No,” he said, more softly now. “But I trust you.”
That hit you harder than expected.
He glanced at you again. “You’re not going to freak out?”
“I already did,” you admitted. “But I guess... I know what fear looks like. You weren’t scared. Just… focused.”
Jungwon looked away, hands gripping the rooftop edge.
“That’s why you’re so serious,” you said after a moment. “Why you’re always tired. Why you don’t bother with stupid high school drama.”
He snorted. “I didn’t think you noticed.”
“I notice a lot of things,” you said. “Even if we never talked much before.”
He turned to you now, really looking at you. “Why are you still here?”
You raised a brow. “What, should I have run screaming?”
“No, I just... thought you’d be different. Most people would.”
“Well, I’m not most people,” you said simply. “Besides, I was starting to like you before all this.”
You weren’t sure what made you say that. Maybe the moonlight. Maybe the honesty hanging between you like static.
His eyes widened slightly, caught off guard.
You stood, brushing dust from your skirt. “And before you say anything dumb, I’m not saying I like you because you saved me. I like you because, even before I knew any of this, you were...”
“Strange?” he offered.
You smiled. “Interesting. Grounded. You’re real.”
There was a long pause.
Then, Jungwon stood too. “You’re kind of terrifying when you’re not behind a podium, you know that?”
You rolled your eyes. “Says the guy who suplexes evil spirits for fun.”
He laughed, really laughed, and for the first time, he looked his age. Seventeen. Not a fighter, not a Counter. Just a boy.
“You can’t keep fighting alone,” you said suddenly.
He blinked. “What?”
“I’m not saying I want to get possessed or join your demon squad. But you don’t have to keep everything in anymore. You’re allowed to have people who care.”
Jungwon looked at you like he didn’t know what to say. So he didn’t. He just nodded.
The rooftop was quiet for a long moment.
Then, his phone buzzed. One look, and the calm cracked.
Another case.
He exhaled, shoving the device in his pocket. “I have to go.”
You nodded. “Be careful.”
He turned to leave, but then stopped.
“I meant what I said,” he murmured. “I trust you.”
Then he jumped, clean over the ledge. You ran to look, heart hammering.
But he was already gone.
You stood there alone, wind tugging at your sleeves, thinking about everything you’d just seen, just learned, felt.
════════════════════════════════════════════
You don’t remember falling asleep.
One moment you were staring at the ceiling in your room, clutching your pillow with half a mind to text him—then nothing. Now, the morning sunlight filters through the curtains like soft waves, brushing your face with warmth. You blink against it, squinting.
And then—
A knock.
You sit up slowly. It’s 8:12 AM. A Sunday.
Another knock.
You pull the hoodie you were wearing tighter around you, feet padding against the wooden floor, and open the door.
“Good morning,” Jungwon says softly. His voice is quieter than usual. Sweeter.
You blink again. “What are you—”
“I brought breakfast.”
He lifts a paper bag. The smell of egg toast and iced vanilla coffee fills the air. You stare at him.
“You... brought breakfast?”
He scratches the back of his neck. “I couldn’t sleep. Thought you might not have, either.”
You step aside without saying anything, and he walks in, pausing only to remove his shoes like he’s done it a thousand times before—even though he never has.
The two of you sit on your bed, knees brushing. Toast in hand. Not speaking.
Finally, you ask, “You okay?”
“I should be asking you that.”
You chew quietly. “I’m fine. Better than I thought I’d be.”
“Same.”
Another silence, but this one’s different. The room feels full—of warmth, of something tentative and close.
“You know,” he says, “I used to think being a Counter was something I had to carry alone. That it’d always keep me separate. You’re... the first person I’ve wanted to share it with.”
Your heart does something strange in your chest.
“That night,” you whisper. “You didn’t have to come back for me.”
“I did.”
You look up at him. “Why?”
His eyes find yours, steady and impossibly soft. “Because it’s you.”
You don’t realize how close you’ve leaned in until you feel his breath on your skin. You don’t realize how much you’ve wanted to kiss him until now.
But you do. Gently. Carefully. Like pressing a secret into the space between.
And when you pull back, he’s smiling in that boyish way that makes you want to melt into your sheets.
“You’re dangerous,” you murmur.
He laughs. “You’ve seen nothing yet.”
You roll your eyes, even as your cheeks flush.
“Don’t tell me you’re going to be that kind of boyfriend.”
He grins wider. “Wait—so I am your boyfriend now?”
You pause.
“You brought me egg toast and risked your life for me. What else do you want, a handwritten contract?”
He throws a pillow at you.
You throw one back.
The morning drips into the afternoon, filled with playful bickering, Netflix running in the background, and your legs tangled beneath a shared blanket. It feels unreal and real all at once—the softness after the storm. The quiet after the scream.
And when he walks you home later, fingers intertwined, the world doesn’t feel so heavy anymore.
You’ve got each other now.
And that’s enough.

PAIRING… bf! sunoo x gf! reader | GENRE… fluff, romance, slight angst (if you squint) | TROPE… bf x gf | WC… 1.0k
you and sunoo have been dating for the past six months, and honestly it’s been the best six months of your life.
even before you both started dating, y’all were incredibly close. he was your best friend, like why wouldn’t you guys be close? However, unlike before, when he would push the hair out of your eyes, it wasn’t just casual. it was something more, as if the shy smile you would try to hide from him was his air, his reason to live.
when a movie was playing rather than watching it, it would just be playing in the background as you both cuddled and kissed. those platonic experiences before have a whole new meaning.
however, to your friends… you guys were still bestfriends. not by choice, if it were up to you guys, everyone would know that you guys are together, and its not like you guys haven’t tried. trust me, you both really have.
for instance, when your friend group was sitting around you lunch table, you and sunoo walked in hand in hand, and yet… not a single person batted an eye. you both decided to take it as a sign as they already know, however after you asked him to pass you you water bottle, and thanking him with a kiss on the cheek, everyone’s eyes suddenly fell on you.
“erm guys? you’re staring” you said ”well yea, it’s not everyday that you and sunoo act like a couple” giselle said. ”erm, we aren’t acting tho.” said sunoo
“yea sure, i kiss sunghoon on the cheek all the time, doesn’’t mean he’s my boyfriend.” said jake
giving him a deadpanned look, “ well he’s practically your lover so that doesnt counter, and it’s different because sunoo is my BOYFRIEND”
the next instance was when you and sunoo were out on a date at the park when you bumped into rei and ni-ki. It started off as a casual conversation asking about their day and what they were planning for the rest of their date. ”yea thats about our plans” said ni-ki
“awh cute,” i exclaimed, “ yea we were planning to do somethinhg similar” ”thats crazy for bestfriends, seems kinda romantic in my opinion.” niki exclaimed
“well, she’s my girlfriend so no shit.” said sunoo
with a perplexed look both you couples parted ways.
the next few weeks you started having more and more encounters to the point where your friend group met up to discuss your “friendship”. ”guys, i think they are actually dating.” said jay
“yea me too, i think i caught them kissing but im not to sure” said heeseung
“yea, i went to her house and found her and sunoo cuddling” said danielle
“should we confront them?” asked jungwon after a collective agreement they decided to go confront the to.
you both got a call saying to come meet them in jay’s house. once you both reached you found the entire friend group waiting for you two.
“is everything alright?” you asked
“are you guys actually dating?” asked jay
“are you guys serious?” asked sunoo
“yea, ik you guys told us but we all thought you were tryna joke around with us.” said jake
“well, yes we are.” you said
“awhh congrats guys.” said giselle everyone congragulated you to and you guys smiled at eachother and kissed.
You and Sunoo had officially been dating for six months now, and honestly? It’s been the softest, happiest six months of your life.
But the thing is, not much really changed. You two had always been attached at the hip, always walking into class together, always sharing snacks, always doing the dramatic forehead-to-forehead pep talks before exams. Sunoo wasn’t just your boyfriend. He was your person, long before either of you realized what that meant.
Of course, now when he tucked your hair behind your ear, it lingered. Now when you looked away shyly, he didn’t just tease you, he’d grin like you were the only thing in the room. And movie nights? They were just cozy excuses to cuddle into his hoodie and get distracted halfway through by soft kisses and quiet giggles.
To you two, it felt obvious. You felt like a couple. You acted like one. But somehow, your friends were still completely clueless.
It wasn’t for lack of trying. You’d walked into the cafeteria one afternoon hand-in-hand, whispering to each other and practically glowing. You sat down next to Sunoo like always, nudging your water bottle toward him with a soft, “Can you open this for me, babe?”
He handed it to you, and you thanked him with a quick kiss on the cheek.
Crickets.
Until suddenly. “Wait. What was that?” Giselle blinked.
“What?” you asked, confused.
“That,” she pointed. “The kiss. You guys are being all… couple-y.”
Sunoo tilted his head. “Well… yeah. She is my girlfriend.”
Jake raised an eyebrow. “Okay but like, I kiss Sunghoon on the cheek all the time. Doesn’t mean we’re dating.”
You gave him a look. “Jake. Sunghoon is literally your soulmate. That doesn't count.”
“But Sunoo and I are actually dating,” you added.
Still, they didn’t take it seriously.
Another time, at the park, you and Sunoo were mid-date when you ran into Ni-Ki and Rei. After some friendly chit-chat, you mentioned your own picnic plans and Ni-Ki blinked at you.
“Kinda romantic for best friends,” he said, laughing.
Sunoo didn’t even flinch. “She’s not just my best friend. She’s my girlfriend.”
Cue awkward silence.
It kept happening. You’d share your jacket. He’d tie your shoelaces. You’d show up to practice in matching hair clips. And your friends just… refused to believe it.
Eventually, the whole group called an emergency meeting at Jay’s house. You walked in with Sunoo, confused at their dramatic expressions.
“Are you guys actually dating?” Jay asked seriously.
You blinked. “What do you mean actually?”
“Yeah, like… for real,” Heeseung added. “I thought y’all were just being extra close friends.”
Danielle raised her hand. “I literally saw them cuddling on her couch.”
“Wait so you are dating?” Jake squinted.
“Yes,” you and Sunoo said in unison.
A beat of silence, then Giselle gasped, “Wait, are we just dumb?”
Everyone broke into laughter, offering congratulations and teasing apologies. You turned to Sunoo, smiling as he squeezed your hand.
“Finally,” he said, leaning in to kiss your forehead. “They believe us.”

The bell rang, echoing down the school hall like a starter pistol. Lunch.
You closed your locker and turned around, only to find Niki standing there, holding a juice box and a smile.
“Strawberry or mango?” he asked.
You reached for the mango, but he pulled it back slightly, teasing. “Mango, huh? Basic.”
“You bought it.”
He grinned and handed it over. “Only because I knew you’d pick it.”
You both walked out toward the courtyard, where the benches were slightly warm under the sun and everyone had scattered into their friend groups. The usual. You and Niki always sat near the tree, just far enough to avoid the noise, but close enough to hear it if something entertaining happened. Like Jungwon’s dramatic reenactments of teacher meltdowns.
Niki stretched out, legs extended like a cat, and poked your shoulder with his juice straw.
“Wanna skip sixth period?”
You squinted at him. “We have math.”
“Exactly,” he said, tossing his head back. “Let’s go get ice cream instead. It’s hot.”
You shook your head, laughing. “You literally failed the last test.”
“Only because I was thinking about you the whole time.”
You smacked his arm with your notebook, but he caught your hand and held it. Just like that. No dramatic music. No slow motion. Just fingers in fingers like it was the most normal thing in the world.
Your heart did the thing it always did around him. It fluttered and dropped at the same time. He was ridiculous, annoying, and sometimes too loud in the hallways—but also the only person who remembered what snacks you liked and could tell how your day went just by looking at your face.
“You looked tired this morning,” he said, still not letting go of your hand. “Stayed up late?”
You nodded. “I had that stupid bio project.”
“I told you I’d help.”
“You said, and I quote, ‘Science is a scam.’”
“It is,” he said, dead serious.
You rolled your eyes. “Still. I got it done.”
He leaned his head on your shoulder. “You’re smart. It’s annoying.”
“You’re smart too,” you said, even though he probably wouldn’t believe you. But he was. Maybe not in the academic way, but he noticed people. He knew when your mood dipped even before you did. He remembered anniversaries like the day you first became friends, or the day you confessed with shaking hands behind the school gym.
“You wanna hang out after school?” he asked suddenly. “I found this arcade near the station. Thought it looked fun.”
You smiled. “Only if I get to beat you at Dance Dance Revolution again.”
He made a fake gasp. “That never happened.”
“It literally did. You tripped over your own shoelace.”
He looked down at his sneakers, then at yours. “Funny. Yours are untied right now.”
You blinked. “Wait, wha—”
Before you could react, he bent down and actually started tying your shoelace. You looked around, mortified. “Niki!”
“What?” he said, all innocent. “It was a safety hazard.”
Your face flushed as people walked by, barely noticing, but still.
He tied it slowly, deliberately, and when he stood up, he looked a little too proud of himself.
“There,” he said. “Boyfriend duties complete.”
You stared at him. “You’re lucky you’re cute.”
“Damn right I am.”
You both sat in silence for a moment. The kind of quiet that didn’t feel awkward at all. Just easy. Soft.
A breeze blew past, and your hair tickled your face. Niki gently tucked a strand behind your ear without saying anything. Like he didn’t even realize he was doing it.
“You always do that,” you mumbled.
“Do what?”
“Touch my hair like it’s a normal thing.”
He leaned in a little. “It is a normal thing.”
You looked down at your shoes. Still tied.
He nudged your arm. “Hey.”
You looked up.
“I like you. Like... all the time,” he said. “Just so you know. Even when you're mad at me. Even when I suck at math. Even when your shoelaces are a mess.”
Your face broke into a smile you couldn’t stop.
“I like you too. Even when you drink all my milk carton without asking.”
“That was one time!”
“Twice.”
“Okay, maybe twice.”
He squeezed your hand.
The bell rang again.
“Math?” you asked.
“Ice cream,” he replied.
You both stood up at the same time, walking away from the building with no real destination, just the warmth of the sun, mango juice, and your hand in his.

The mall bustled with weekend energy — kids pulling their parents toward toy stores, teens weaving through crowds, music humming from every direction. You clutched the small shopping list tightly, eyes scanning the stores ahead.
“Relax,” Jungwon said with a chuckle, walking beside you, hands tucked casually into his hoodie pockets. “We’re just buying decorations. Not defusing a bomb.”
You gave him a look. “Yeah, but if we mess up, Ms. Han will murder us.” You shuddered at the memory of your strict council advisor.
He tilted his head, smiling in that way that made his dimples show. “Don’t worry. When we do well, I’ll take all the credit. When we mess up... I'll take the blame too.”
Your heart skipped. Why was he so annoyingly charming?
After a chaotic hour of choosing banners, balloons, and props for the upcoming school festival, your arms were full of shopping bags. Jungwon took most of them without hesitation, effortlessly carrying them while still looking way too good doing it.
“Hey,” he called, voice light, tugging at your sleeve gently. “Come here.”
You followed his gaze and saw it — a tiny vintage-style photo booth tucked away between two shops, blinking invitingly.
“You’re joking, right?” you laughed.
He grinned mischievously. “Council tradition. New rule: after a successful shopping mission, you have to take commemorative photos.”
“That’s not a real rule.”
“It is now," he winked, pulling you toward the booth before you could argue.
Inside, the booth was warm and cramped. You could smell the faint scent of his cologne — fresh and clean — and you realized how close you actually were. Close enough to feel his shoulder brush against yours. Close enough to notice how his lashes curled so perfectly when he blinked.
You fumbled with the machine. “Okay, what pose first?”
Jungwon leaned his elbow against the side of the booth, chin resting in his hand as he looked at you, eyes sparkling.
“First pose — you smile. I admire you.”
You blinked. “Wha—?”
The camera flashed.
You turned to him, wide-eyed, just as he gave you the softest, most heart-melting look.
“Second pose,” he said, voice low, almost teasing. “You look at me like you’re seeing me for the first time.”
You swallowed, heartbeat pounding in your ears. Without thinking, your gaze softened, your lips parted slightly — and Jungwon’s smile faltered, replaced by something deeper. Something that made the tiny booth feel a hundred degrees hotter.
Flash.
"Next pose..." Jungwon’s voice was rougher now. "Come closer."
You did, drawn in like he was gravity itself. Your knee brushed his. His hand grazed yours.
The camera counted down, 3...2...
But before it could capture the moment, Jungwon moved first — his hand cupping your cheek, tilting your face up, and he kissed you.
It was soft at first, tentative, like he was giving you the chance to pull away.
You didn’t.
You kissed him back, hands fisting the front of his hoodie as he deepened the kiss. It was slow, sweet, and completely world-shattering.
Flash.
The booth clicked and whirred as it printed the photos, but neither of you noticed.
He pulled back slightly, foreheads resting together, both of you breathless.
“You’re so beautiful,” he whispered, thumb tracing your cheekbone. His eyes flicked down to your lips again. “Can I...?”
You didn’t even let him finish. You leaned in, kissing him again — harder this time. His hands found your waist, pulling you closer so there wasn’t an inch of space left between you.
Another kiss. And another.
Between kisses, you both laughed, breathless and giddy, like the whole world outside the tiny booth didn’t exist.
When you finally pulled away, cheeks flushed, Jungwon rested his forehead against yours again.
“I’ve been wanting to do that for a long time,” he confessed, his voice barely above a whisper.
You smiled, heart bursting. “Me too.”
Outside the booth, the strip of photos printed out, showing the perfect timeline of what had just happened — from laughter to wide-eyed stares, to a kiss that said everything neither of you had dared to before.
Jungwon grabbed the photo strip, studied it, then tucked it carefully into his pocket.
"Proof," he said with a grin. "That the council trip was a complete success."
You laughed, bumping your shoulder into his as you both grabbed the shopping bags and started walking again.
Maybe today hadn't gone exactly according to plan — but somehow, it turned out better than you could’ve ever imagined.

The final beat of Enhypen’s Coachella set echoed across the desert, fireworks lighting up the sky as the crowd roared in waves. Ni-ki stood center stage, chest heaving, eyes glinting under the blinding stage lights. This moment — this exact moment — was one he’d dreamed of since he was a trainee.
The members took their bows, sweat dripping, hearts racing. The cheers were deafening, the air electric.
But Ni-ki wasn’t thinking about the thousands screaming his name.
He was thinking about her.
The second they turned and exited the stage, the staff lined up with towels, water bottles, and congratulatory claps. Managers tried to herd them toward the tents, but Ni-ki’s eyes scanned the crowd behind the curtains like a boy on a mission.
And then — there she was. Standing just beyond the cords, glowing in the moonlight, beaming at him like he’d hung the stars himself.
“Y/N!” he called out breathlessly.
Before anyone could say a word, Ni-ki darted away from the members, past the stylists, past the photographers, and right into her arms. His heart practically leapt out of his chest as he pulled her close, burying his face in the crook of her neck.
“You were amazing,” she whispered, arms tightening around him. “I’m so proud of you, Riki. You killed it out there.”
He pulled back just slightly, just enough to see the tears glimmering in her eyes — the happy kind. The I-love-you kind.
He grinned, still panting. “Did you really watch the whole thing?”
“Every second,” she said, cupping his cheek. “You looked like a star. You are a star.”
Ni-ki blushed, the tips of his ears turning pink. The roar of the crowd still buzzed behind them, but all he heard was her voice, her warmth grounding him after the adrenaline high. He’d never felt so alive, so seen.
Without even thinking, he leaned in and kissed her — sweet, soft, and filled with the kind of joy that only comes from sharing your proudest moment with the one who believes in you the most.
Behind them, a chorus of groans broke out.
“Ewww, get a room!” Sunoo whined playfully.
“Maknae’s growing up,” Heeseung said, hand over his heart, pretending to tear up.
Jake dramatically fanned himself. “I can’t handle this level of rom-com energy right now.”
But even with all their teasing, the smiles on the members’ faces said it all — they were happy for him. Their youngest had shined brighter than ever, and seeing him that happy… it meant everything.
Ni-ki pulled away with a laugh, still holding Y/N’s hand. “Sorry, sorry,” he said sheepishly, cheeks rosy. “I just—I had to. You’re my good luck charm.”
“You’re the talent,” she replied, squeezing his hand. “I’m just your personal cheerleader.”
He leaned into her shoulder, eyes closing for a brief second. “You’re my everything.”
And just like that, the chaos of the stage, the heat of the lights, the noise of the world — it all faded.
Because in that moment, wrapped in each other’s arms under the desert stars, the only thing that mattered was this quiet joy. This love. This soft ending to a perfect night.
And as they walked back toward the tents, fingers still laced, Ni-ki glanced back at the stage one more time — heart full, head held high, and the happiest he’d ever been.

You stood nervously backstage at Music Bank, rattling with the script for the show. The bright lights and bustling atmosphere always made your heart race, whenever you and your group had to advertise your new comeback. you'd always find yourself pitying the poor MCs, who have to remember every line by heart, have to learn the dance to every single song, the poor guys have to have the mind of an elephant.
however, today was worse than usual, not because you forgot the lines or a dance move, today was your debut as of the Music Banks MCs, and not only that. You were debuting with the one and only Ni-ki from enhypen.
as you glanced from the side of your eyes, you spotted Ni-ki sitting calmly scrolling through his phone with a monotonous look on his face. curse him for being so nonchalant, while inside you were breaking down.
what if you forget your lines? what if you mess up the group's choreo? what if you talk over their leader? or accidentally say something rude? just as your brain was spiraling into an anxious turmoil, ni-ki gently tapped your shoulder.
"hey, you ready?" he asks as if he noticed your nervousness.
mustering all the confidence you could, you look up at him nodding with a graceful smile. "mhm, just a bit nervous. what about you?"
he chuckled, eyes crinkling at the corners. "I'm okay. don't stress okay? you'll do great, and since we're new they'll have room for forgiveness. so just follow my lead, alright?"
As the show began, you found yourself recalling the lines from memory yet making it sound so natural as if you didn't have a script. as time progressed, you could see yourself falling into a comfortable rhythm with ni-ki. due to his playful energy, harmless banter was tossed every now and then making the members of the group giggle.
between different segments, you found yourself laughing more and more since he would stop spewing out silly jokes, and you couldn't help but feel the warmth growing in your chest.
weeks passed with this chemistry, one that people have never seen on music bank, not chemistry this strong. with every interaction between you two, the edits grew, and fans began to pick out the way he looked at you. whenever he joked around how his eyes would look at yours to see your reaction. how before he would respond he would wait for you to say something first. you couldn't go a day without seeing social be filled with clips of the two of you.
one day, after the show had finished recording, you sat alone in the studio wanting to take a breather before heading back home. Ni-ki was walking around the building looking for you in hopes of potential progression in your relationship.
"hey," he said sweetly before taking a seat beside you. "you were amazing today."
as if you read his mind, you graced him with a smile and a gentle blush on your cheeks. " thanks, ki. you always make it so easy."
he turned to you with a smile, "i'm glad. you know, i really enjoy working with you, there’s no one else i rather have than you to be my partner."
your eyes widened, taken aback by his claim. "actually? awh ki, i thought you were just being nice."
with his eyes boring into yours, he shakes his head. "no, i mean it. whenever'm with you... i feel brighter. it's like you light up the room."
you look away, unable to meet his gaze.
he reaches out, gently taking your hand into his. "look at me will you?"
and within a second your eyes are back on his.
"would you like to spend more time together? outside of work?" he asks with a slight glimmer in his eyes.
"like a date?" you ask with hope.
"yea, like a date."
"i'd love that ki. in complete honesty, i've fallen for you." you say, with your heart pounding.
he grinned, pulling you into his chest, in a tight embrace.
from that day onwards, your bond only deepened. nowadays, you spend most of your nights in each other's dorms cuddling under the covers as a movie plays in the background. either that or late-night convenience store runs. but it's not like you'd have it any other way.

Your excitement couldn't be contained in you as you and your best friend got ready in your hotel room, today was the day you were going to the enhypen concert. It had felt like you've been waiting forever for this moment, to finally see your favourite group up close in the front-row.
The arena was bubbling with chatter and laughter and you and your friend stood in line waiting to enter. You eagerly held onto your sign with Heeseung's face on it, it read, "hot girls love Lee Heeseung" in bold letters.
Fighting for these seats were no easy job, you and your best friend stayed up all night on ticket master, with 8 devices open, all on the loading screen. Once you finally got in, you immediately booked the front seats and paid, not even caring to look at the price ( rich girls 😩).
"Can you believe its finally time?" your friend squealed, bouncing on her heels. "And front row seats too! ugh feels good to be gods favourites."
You nod your head agreeing. "I swear, with the price of these seats, heeseung better notice me." you joke.
When the doors opened, you and your friend tightly clutched your belongings and joined the crowd of engenes inside. The arena was absolutely massive, with posters of the members hung up on the ceiling. The seats were better than you could've imagined, giving you the best possible view, able to see everything.
As you both settled into your seats, the lights dimmed, with the energy of the engenes around you increasing. Fans excitedly chatted away to one another, waving their light sticks, singing to the songs over the speakers, many of them holding merch and creative signs.
Your heart leaped as the opening notes of XO (Only if you say yes) filled the arena. The lights shined on stage, and the members of enhypen appeared, their visuals even more stunning in real life. Within the first few seconds your eyes found Heeseung. He looked stunning, his stage presence commanding the environment with just a single nod of the head.
As the concert progressed you found yourself getting more and more immersed in the performance. Every now and then you get your phone out and to record. However, it seemed like every time you put down your phone and glanced at heeseung, his eyes were staring straight into yours. at first, you thought it was just your mind playing games with you, but when it happened again and again, you began to think it was actually happening. And with every passing second, your heart skipped a beat, your lips couldn't help but lift upright into a smile, with a burning feeling sense in your cheeks.
Your friend noticed and gently nudged your shoulder playfully. "I think someone has a crush on you." she teased, hinting at heeseung.
You laughed, shaking your head in disagreement. " As if, he's probably just scanning the crowd."
But deep down, you couldn't shake the feeling off. It felt like every time you looked at him, every fleeting glance, was hinting at something more. As if he was fascinated with you.
As the concert nears its end, the energy of the crowd reached its highest point, with engene chanting the member's names. As Enhypen performed their final songs, the crowd went wild. You and your friend were singing along, your voices blending into the chorus of fans, when suddenly, Heeseung and the other members started to make their way into the audience.
without a second to spare, heeseung rushed his way to you, standing right in front of the barricade. For a moment, everything around you was still. The lee heeseung of enhypen was standing in front of YOU, with his eyes locked onto yours. He smiled, and you felt your body go weak.
"Hi." he said cutely, "can i see your phone?"
without a second thought, you opened your phone and handed it to him, with trembling hands. He quickly brought you close and took a selfie with you, with his flirty smile. Then he turned his phone away from you and began to type something, before handing it back to you, his fingers deliberately brushing against yours. You glanced at the screen and found a new contact: "Hee 🫶 ". your eyes widened in pure disbelief.
when you looked back at him, he chuckled, before winking and mouthing the word cute. The rest of the concert was a complete blur. You were on cloud nine, unable to believe what just occurred. As the final notes of still monster faded, enhypen took their final bows, and waved at their fans, with heeseung making a call me sign at you, followed by a wink.
As you left the venue, you knew one thing, you might actually have a chance with heeseung. Thank god, you bought front-row seats.
