matt on the boy meets world cast podcast for some reason waxing poetic about how jay was a child prodigy "like mozart in amadeus" ("he''s a ONCE IN A GENERATIONAL TALENT--" "huh. wow.") and how because he was jealous of jay's skill as a pianist he wanted to match him by improvising stupid slam poetry spoken word improv pieces over jay's music, which was the genesis of ntbts. matt's situation is so fucked up can you imagine being some geeky spazz in high school with more creative energy than you know what to do with and meeting this ethereal older boy that's a piano genius and gets all your references and wants to spend all his time with you. can you imagine him insisting on moving in with you to make a creative project together that subsumes your whole life. can you imagine having to be the one to be forced to disentangle yourself from this guy you have no idea how you pulled in the first place because you feel like being head over heels for him is creatively stagnating you but he won't let you go. can you imagine crawling back to him at the first taste of success after spending a while latching on to a less talented and beautiful proxy version of your ex-bestie. realizing that unfortunately/fortunately this guy is your root for life and he encourages your fixation on him bc it's for sure mutual and ngl you're good for his career. he's also straight. awful
