Slowly working on a Thirsty Vamps fic because there's not enough of it I've seen on Ao3 🤣

It's my first sfth fic I've started since getting into the fandom because Luke Womanning has infested my brainnn, hopefully I'll do more in the future when I have motivation :p

Her swimming thoughts are dragged back to the present with a hand moving to hold down her throat and another digging into the meat of her hip below the stake. Esmeralda's eyes snap up to Anna's face, her chest drawing in ragged, pained gasps bordering on hisses that ignore the fact her body no longer needs oxygen. The expression Anna wears is intense and focused, far from the doe-eyed, lustful gaze she wore not even a minute ago that had the blonde vampire questioning her entire existence.

Gonna have to be basic and say crows! they're incredibly clever, they look cool as hell and crow imagery in media is always sick af.

Honourary mention to most small garden birds esp bluetits because they're just adorable, and also to Shoebills because those are straight up dinosaurs and it's terrifying

i’m a firm believer that one of the tragedies of npmd is the implied friendship between steph and max.

like, steph starts the show being completely unaware that max terrorizes the nerds to the point where they’re terrified of him. she needs to hear it from three different ppl and see pete’s black eye to believe it.

and then she does and gets fired up on their behalf but it doesn’t even occur to her to talk to him about it.

the prank happens, max sees her, and even though he thinks he’s about to literally fight the undead, he still tries to protect her and get her out of the haunted house. only for her to pull back and tell him it’s a prank.

and when he says “i thought you all hated me” he doesn’t say “except you, steph”— he includes her.

and then he dies and she’s just another nerdy prude to hunt down. but like.

i can’t help imagine 7th grade steph and max. they’re both popular kids, but max isn’t a terror yet. all their friends seem to have perfect families except them. do you think they talked about not understanding why their dads didn’t love them? do you think they ever cried into each other’s shoulders under the bleachers, talking about the pressure and loneliness they felt?

and at what point do you think max stopped letting himself turn to steph? at what point do you think he started pushing her away, hiding his tears, and telling her that “only cucks and beta males cry”? how long was it before steph gave up on him and started acting like nothing bothered her either?

i wonder if steph ever thought about that version of max when he was hunting down her friends. i wonder if she ever looked at the hulking, undead monster who killed richie and ruth and saw the middle schooler who taught her how to throw a football and told her they’d make their own family.
