Ok, so I’m not exactly sure how/when they’d ever interact, but Darcy would treat him with politeness and as much kindness as he can muster, as befits a gentleman towards another gentleman in meaner circumstances. Esp since Robert is respectable and good at what he does, etc. Do you know whose lands Robert works? Or does he own his own?

So I'm not 100% sure, but I'm pretty positive that he works for Mr. Knightley b/c they develop a relationship and I'm pretty sure he even asks Mr. Knightley for his permission to marry Harriet and I don't know that he would have done that if he doesn't work for him?? And, idek man like how he and Darcy would ever meet except maybe if Darcy came to visit Knightley at some point??

!!!!! HEADCANON ACCEPTEDDDDD!!!!! I love that and I can see them all playing together as kids, what with both being country families and not terribly well-to-do. Esp since there’re like 5000000000 Morlands, so it’d probs be particularly nice to occasionally get out and see people who aren’t their siblings hahaha BUT I CAN SOOOO PICTURE ROBERT AND JAMES AS BFFS OK THIS IS PURE GOLD Also, you know this means that whenever the bff of the heroine’s bro comes up in a novel, she’s picturing Robert hahahahah I can see her having one of those childish hero-worshipping crushes on him when she was really small, too, because let’s face it, for Catherine 95% of life boils down to romance ;DDD

OKAY STOP IT I'M HAVING SUCH MORLAND/MARTIN FAMILY FEELS WHY IS THIS A THING AHHHH. So I feel like Robert is pretty quiet/a little shy and basically keeps to his family/his crops b/c that's what he knows, but I think he is just really himself around the Morlands and probably thinks the Catherine is like the most adorable thing and loves listening to her talk passionately about her books and things and even though she's not seen more of the world than Robert has, I actually feel like Robert probably knows more about the world than she does?? And like I don't thinks he sees her that often that she's staying with the Allens, but when he does he'll sit and listen to her talk about all of her new friends and probably warn her to be careful b/c I think he'll be able to tell that not everyone's as friendly as they seem even from her descriptions, haha. 

But ommmgg, her having a childhood crush on him/imagining him in her books ahahaha. Also I feel like Robert has read one of her book recs before. Like he was probably like not my cup of tea, but he would def actually read it.

DAMN YOU EMMA. ;DDD But ugh, I think that through all of that, Robert doesn't actually dislike Emma at all like he sees her as helping Harriet and even though he still proposes to her, he totally understands that she has prospects of a better life, like even after she rejects him and like he is hurt on a level, he's still super nice to her AND THAT KILLS ME OKAY. 

Ehem, but yeah, so um I guess their relationship will pretty much start out how it does in the book? With basically them both liking each other and Robert like planning to ask her to marry him as soon as he has the money. I don't think there's anything in this AU that would change that??

So idk but like I feel like the Morlands and the Martins might be friends/friendly?? Especially since Mr. Morland is a clergyman and the Morlands are just really friendly down to earth people and I think that the Martins are, too. Plus like headcannon that Robert and James were friends before James went off to college. :D
