So... Zuko's entire arc is about redemption, breaking free from his father, from what the Fire Nation instilled in him, and realizing that his destiny has nothing to do with what Ozai imposed on him. Basically, that he's not like his father or Azula.
And yet... there are people who will tell you that a romantic relationship between Zuko and Katara is impossible because HIS FATHER AND GRANDFATHER DID THIS OR THAT (especially Zuko's grandfather who wiped out the waterbenders at Katara's house)!
Do you realize how ridiculous this argument is?
Zuko didn't commit the acts his father or his grandfather did. And if that really mattered, then Katara wouldn't be friends with Zuko at all. If Zuko's family's actions were truly representative of his destiny, HE WOULDN'T HAVE HAD REDEMPTION OR BE PART OF THE GAANG FAMILY!
This argument is driving me crazy!
It makes no sense to say that Zuko couldn't be romantically involved with Katara because his grandfather destroyed the waterbenders! Because in that case, Katara couldn't be friends with him or see him as family (like she did canonically) either!
And besides, this argument is ridiculous! Because yes, the waterbenders were wiped out because of Zuko's grandfather, and therefore Katara almost died because of that bastard. Except so did Zuko! His mother literally had to kill that bastard to save Zuko! Katara and Zuko were both threatened with death by the same person! It actually only brings them closer narratively!
And what's more, once again, Zuko's entire arc hinges on the fact that he's not like his family. That he was literally treated like dirt because deep down he's always been a good person!
Those anti-Zutara people are getting on my nerves with their crappy logic!
