Read: Attachments by Rainbow Rowell

After the lack of a definite happy ending in the previous book I read, I looked for something light and charming with a sure happy ending. I stumbled upon Attachments which was indeed light, quirky, and had its funny parts. I think I like funny dialogues and eavesdropping (and the combination of those two). The book had its cheesy bits, and emo bits. But it’s generally like going for a rom com movie. So was I entertained? Yes. Did I enjoy the ending? Yes, happy ending, despite mutual pining, guy gets girl, girl gets guy. Would I read it again? No, but then I don’t generally reread books. Was I wowed? No.

What to read next... I wonder what I’m in the mood for this time...

Read: Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki

By Murakami. I think I can relate to Tsukuru in some aspects. Like how he feels like he’s so ordinary — like nothing outstanding that sets him apart from the rest or how he feels like he doesn’t have much to offer or bring in. How he seems so cool and collected but people don’t really know what goes on beneath that exterior — like I’ve received feedback before something along the lines of “does not panic” but people don’t really know how keeping calm is such a challenge. How he seems to like routine. How he can cut people off (well, they cut him off actually) but I think he was willing to have let the bridge remain burnt if it weren’t for his gf.

Anyways, I’m not a deep person. And I wish there was a happier and definite ending for this character I related to. I mean it was either he gets the girl or not. And I think with what he’s gone through and how he’s managed so far, he’d survive if Sara rejected him. There’s no option after all but to move forward. But call me shallow and a sucker for a happy ending.

437 2018-2 Forgot to post this sooner. This was from last Saturday. I had about 20 minutes to spare before the start of Zumba class.

436 2018-1 First for the year. Last drawing was 1 week ago. I’ve got problems in laying down second layers. I wish someone can just tell me how to make it better. Is it too much water? Should I wait til the it dries before painting over it again? Then lines. How do I not have to resort to using a pen or pencil over them to make details pop? Or should I just figure out how to best draw the lines? Pen looks good in the previous work but i prefer the lines to be thinner. I had to just kinda super lightly brush the pen over to make the lines thinner there. 20180106

435 such lack of control, so messy. First time yet again after a long time to watercolor. I don’t practice. No wonder I suck. So much to work on. But idk if drawing/painting will be top prio for the coming year.
