okay? oh my God
This feels humiliating to admit, but I got weirdly emotional in that scene where Shane's dad has just driven away after busting them at the cottage, and Shane is freaking out. Because... what is happening in that scene is co-regulation, right? Shane's spiralling, and Ilya's calm and patient, letting him feel his feelings, acknowledging it's a scary thing, soothing him with touch, not trying to solve it for him but offering to be there with him through it... anyway, thanks, Jacob Tierney, for writing a sexy hockey show with concrete examples of what I'm learning about in therapy.

I can only be alone with my thoughts for so long!!
I do like that some of the sex scenes in heater rivalry are edited like im fading in and out of consciousness in the cuck chair
Early APPLE Saville Row , still no furniture : George Harrison/ Ringo Starr/ Derek Taylor/ Peter Asher (Jane's brother)/ John Lennon and Yoko Ono // 1968
The Springsteens have THAT photo of John and Paul writing together hanging in their house.
with love from Paul (McCartney)
(I'm not 100% certainly it's "McCartney" in brackets but I really love the idea that it might be)
The Beatles interviewed in 1964, London airport after returning from Paris, France
PAUL: Wilder stuff I think, we- we stuck in a wilder number y’know… to finish off with-
JOHN: [mutters] ‘Gone With The Wind’
PAUL: [Instantly looks at John] ‘Gone With The Wind’ [laughs]
INTERVIEWER: They go for the Elvis Presley type of stuff though do they? I mean do they go for the rock and roll stuff?
PAUL: I think so yeah, a bit more. I might- [Paul stutters and John’s head snaps up] It depended really who was in… upon… [misspeaks and looks down at John as if he wants him to tell him what to say] depended upon who was in [John and Paul both laugh looking at each other] I- I can’t speak. Speaking French so much, you see
INTERVIEWER: What?
PAUL: *imitates French*
[John smiles and turns his whole body towards Paul]
INTERVIEWER: You’ve brushed up your French, have you?
PAUL: Nah, kidding I can’t speak a word of it.
INTERVIEWER: You still can’t speak a word?
PAUL: No… [Suddenly looks down at John] John’s… very good-
JOHN: *imitates French*
PAUL: Je- Bonsoir and all that sort of stuff very- oh he’s very good.
———————
NOW. I might be going crazy- but it sounds like John says something like ‘je vous veux’ (I want you) or ‘je vous aime’ (I love you) when he ‘speaks French’, although his pronunciation still has a prominent Scouse accent to it.
As with most clips, the audio quality is very poor and it’s very faint but anything is possible when these two are involved… If anyone speaks French please tell me if I’m onto something or if I’m going crazy lol
Adds a new layer to the ‘My Cheri’ home recording of John……
All the French aside, Paul is soooo obvious this whole interview. He interacts with John every chance he gets- that moment when he misspeaks and instantly looks at John so they’re both in on the joke- I mean come on…
Re what they're saying: As folks have suggested in the tags, it is "je me lève à sept heures" that they're saying. I think this was also something of an inside joke between them, because there's an interview where Paul talks about how John was supposed to know more French (iirc he was talking about their Paris trip in 1961) but in actuality his French was still pretty basic, and he uses this phrase in that interview.
1967
Summer of Love's a little bit too sort of easy, but, yeah, some sort of golden summer
(Paul McCartney in The Beatles Anthology, ep.7)
‘When was that summer of a dozen words?’ When everything’s going really well, nobody needs to talk, so you may just be sitting around with someone and reading books, or reading a newspaper, and you hardly even speak because there’s no need to; you’re in such a comfortable situation. ‘When was that summer when it never rained?’ I like that I’m not even going to try and remember what year it was. I remember hearing a story in the 1960s, when everyone was looking towards India and Indian mysticism, of some guy who was visiting a friend, and he came into the room and just sat down in a corner, and they didn’t speak. The idea was they were such good friends that they wouldn’t speak until someone had something to say. It wouldn’t just be, ‘What did you think of the football the other day?’ They were absolutely in each other’s presence, not needing to say anything. When they spoke it had to be meaningful. I liked the image of the peacefulness in that room.
(Paul McCartney about You Tell Me, The Lyrics, 2021)
I mean, I wasn’t in love last year, but I was communicating quite well with people. Not as well, or maybe not as powerfully. ’Cause now there’s two of us [John and Yoko], doing that, brrmmm, whatever it is. Sending out a vibration or whatever. But before it was me and... or me and George, alright, or whatever it was; we weren’t in love, but. You know. There’s enough in you to shove it out. It is just that bit. If you – if somebody comes in a room and he’s uptight and that, he can make the whole room uptight.
(John Lennon, interview with Maurice Hindle, December, 1968)
You’re like the William Shakespeare of mclennon fanfiction
I cannot agree with this but it is extremely nice of you to say so! Unless you mean I have a second best bed and think the 16th and early 17th century are super cool - in which case I am your woman.
Ex-Beatle spoke of performing ‘for another 60 years’ in interview to be aired on 85th anniversary of his birth
Not to be cynical, Nicky, but were these lost, or were you just waiting until a significant birthday to capitalise on them? Either way, happy to have them!
I think it’s really telling that you’ll tag stuff as LG and not the full acronym, you really do have a biphobic terfy vibe about you

Sean: I’ve seen interviews with dad around the time when he’s about to go and see you and he seems really genuinely happy that he’s about to see you. I think he says like, ‘Well actually I’m about to have a meeting with him, Paul, I’m on my way’, or something and he kind of jokes, but he sounds happy that he’s going to see you. I can tell that you guys were real friends.
Paul: I think so much of what he did just, obviously Imagine and Instant Karma is great and the nice thing was, when I listen to the records, I can imagine him in the studio and go, ‘Oh ok, I know what he’s done. He’s just said to the engineer, “Gimme some Elvis echo.. Bog echo.”’ Bog is the toilet in Liverpool, but we just called it bog echo…
“DECURTIS: What was your relationship with John during that period when he was living in New York and not recording or playing? Were you in touch with him? GEORGE: I saw him a couple of times. I didn’t often go to New York, but when I was in New York, I’d go see him, and he was nice. He was always enthusiastic. That period where he was cooking bread and stuff, I always got an overpowering feeling from him. Almost a feeling that he wanted to say much more than he could, or than he did. You could see it in his eyes. But it was difficult. DECURTIS: In what way? GEORGE: Well, you’d read all these stories [from him] – and they’d keep coming all the time – about how The Beatles weren’t actually anything. That they didn’t mean anything. That he was the only one who had a clue about anything – and the wife. There was a definite strained relationship right from the White Album. There was a lot of alienation between us and him. Well, there was alienation amongst all of us. It was particularly strained because having been in a band since being kids, then suddenly we’re all grown up and we’ve got all these other wives. That didn’t exactly help. All the wives at the time really drove wedges between us. And then after the years, when I saw John in New York, it was almost like he was crying out to tell me certain things, or to renew things, relationships, but he wasn’t able to, because of the situation he was in.”
— George Harrison, Rolling Stone: George Harrison gets back. (November 5th, 1987)
"I didn't mention this in my book, but from time to time, John would say to me, "What do you think Paul is thinking right now?" I said to John, 'I've only met him a couple times in my life, you know. I have never had any in depth conversations with him. I have no idea.' And John would say, "Do you think he thinks about me at all?" The question made me sad. I just gave him meager responses, like, "I'm sure he does", and then he would move on. And I think his...I'm not gonna call it an obsession, but his curiosity about Paul McCartney was always prevalent."
