At this rate…
I’m convinced BB asked the influencers at this Valkyries Pilates event to guess the titles for ACOTAR 6 & 7 because SJM doesn’t have titles and they need ideas 😂
Kidding…. But not really.
Please just give us the titles already Sarah Janet 🫶🏼
When people say the Valkyries storyline is boring, tired, and overdone,
Yeah I get pissed for the girls as a whole, but what truly pisses me off is what this implies about Emerie’s story.
Emerie has never had sisters, she’s never experienced a bond like this one. And on top of this, she was born into a world where being a woman is the worst possible thing you could be. They strip her of her autonomy and debilitate her, kill her mother and leave her with nothing but her store, which the men are also trying to take.
She spends her whole life systemically oppressed and then she meets Nesta, who also needs saving, who also needs to learn what being a sister is like.
Emerie takes the initiative to join training, to gain the strength and bravery to stand up to these men, all while gaining sisters and creating some of the most beautiful bonds we’ve seen in the series. She experiences girlhood for the first time ever.
And then she proves to the Illyrian men who have ruined her life, that she can be powerful, that she can overcome, and that she can whoop ass.
She can do everything they can and more.
You’re telling me you read all of this and you still think it’s boring and overdone?
Sounds like you prefer basic, male centered bullshit. And that’s just so laughable.
As a fated mates author, how does one change up and provide a fresh story line while also keeping the integrity of a fated mates love story?
Sarah J Maas is a fated mates author. She loves mating bonds and loves the idea of exploring what that means from all angles. I saw a post discussing how e/riel has been the end game all along and if it doesn’t end up being e/riel, Sarah changed her mind after ACOSF.
This is where I get confused on why people don’t understand the concept of tension. Sarah wanted to do something different with a mated pair rather than the same “fall in love then find out after” story line. As she stated in the CHD podcast, this intrigued her because it allows her to explore what this means and what free will is for the two people in a relationship. What Sarah did was flip the usual plot and created a story that surprised her, Lucien and the readers.
E/riel has never been end game. Elucien has always been IT. Sarah needed a different, more challenging, more intriguing and less obvious way to write a fated mates story than what she’s done. The proof is in the small details for Elucien. The small moments that Sarah ensures all of her end couples across her series all have in common. From certain phrases used, to banter, to commonalities and complimentary differences. Azriel and Grayson have always been the in betweens for Elain that have provided that much needed tension and “who will she pick” component.
Sarah has written Elucien in the stars ✨ Elain will eventually fall in love with her mate and it will be the best CHOICE she’s ever made 💖

Elriel’s dismissal of Cassian PoV: “why are we taking comments other characters have about Elain over her own words”
When we are in another character pov that is the authors way of handing the audience information.
Example: Feyre has told us that Helion is Lucien’s father with proof that she observed of why that is.
So are we suddenly dismissing that because it was another characters POV and comment and observation.
Cassian made an extreme observation that the author presented to the audience. He did not have to look at Elain at all that ball. He is Nesta lover/mate. He didn’t have to look at Elain or even acknowledge her. He didn’t have to do anything but observe Nesta and Eris and give us commentary on that. But no the author used Cassian to tell us about Elain.
And if Cassian got it wrong then the author could have used Eris or even fucken Azriel to tell us differently. But she didn’t.
Character PoV are an authors way of giving the audience an avatar into the world she is writing. When we read from a characters PoV we are meant to see and experience the world through that character. And if a character is telling us, “wearing black, no matter how much she claimed to be a part of this court... It sucked the life from” we are meant to walk away from that PoV seeing and understanding what he just observed for us.
Books would be very boring if authors did not use character POVs to guide the audiences thoughts and feelings in the correct opinion of what is observed. Not everything is suppose to be bland and lacking description to keep opinions neutral and open to interpretation. Authors use character PoVs to tell their audience HOW to interpret what is happening.
If SJM had just wrote Cassian sees Elain standing there next to Feyre’s throne wearing night court black and gave us zero personal thoughts or feelings about how she looks than we would all be confused on why Cassian is looking at Elain and what’s the point of this moment in this paragraph. It’s giving us zero context to base an opinion off of. But he does give us an observation that does allow the reader an inside view and opinion that how Elain looks contradicts her words and it allows the reader to start seeing the foreshadowing of what’s to come for her.
Hunt and Bryce:
“His lightning flowed into her like a river, and he could have sworn he heard a beautiful sort of music between their souls…”
Azriel and Gwyn:
“Azriel entered the warmth of the stairwell, and as he descended, he could have sworn a faint, beautiful singing followed him. Could have sworn his shadows sang in answer.”
Gwyn Berdara, from day one, was a heroine. Even on the most horrific day of her life, when fear and trauma could have consumed her completely, she still chose to save those children.
That’s who Gwyn is at her core, compassionate, brave, selfless. Not because it was easy, not because she was unafraid, but because even in unimaginable pain, her instinct was still to protect those children first.
Some people survive darkness. Gwyn walked through it and still carried light for someone else.
I hope that when Elain accepts the bond we get to see her mental shield blooming, the same way we saw Nestas shield fall down when she accepted hers ✨🌸☀️
