Spock is Gay ➞ A Collection of Evidence
So anyways with the rapid rise of fascism I feel it’s a good time to point out that it’s perfectly legal to follow unjust orders slowly, badly, or inefficiently
Breaking the law, even an unjust law, has consequences that not all can afford. But also a very large number of us are also very stupid, or very confused, or very lazy, and so it’s not unreasonable that someone at the bottom of the chain of command might make a typo, or misplace some paperwork, or leave a Friday afternoon email for Monday morning.
When something goes wrong, or an operation slows down, because a low-level worker somewhere sent a package to the wrong address or left someone on hold for an hour or didn’t fill out a particular form correctly- Do you immediately assume malicious intent? Or do you usually just brush it off as some underpaid idiot being bad at their job?
You also gotta not brag about it. Keep your political opinions on the down low. Be noncommittal or ignorant or undecided. Say things like “I’ve never heard of that”, “where did you hear that?” or “that’s interesting, I heard a conflicting story from here, how weird”. Never be outwardly confidant of what you know. When there is a silence, don’t fill it- leave the space and let the other fill it for you. That’s how you get information, that’s how you find sources, that’s how you reduce the value of anything others get out of you.
Virtue signalling by wearing pins and ribbons and loudly declaring your place is not safe in some environments. It will place scrutiny on you and everything you touch. Nobody believes the guy who says “fuck my boss and everything he stands for” scratches the boss’s car by accident, even if it is an accident.
If you want to slow the march of a tank, filling the path with mud is going do more than laying down in front of it.

what a season finale!
Hey, should we check in on that Target boycott? See how it is going?
Economic blackout over company shuttering diversity commitment
Reminder that this is still going on (through April 17th) and that we, the consumers, have a lot of power
Do y’all every think about the implication that Dylan got severed because he thinks his personality keeps getting him fired? And maybe if he just wasn’t him he could keep a job.
Or how he’s clearly the big, fun dreamer that innie Dylan in, but outie Dylan is being crushed by the realities of life and can hardly access that side of him anymore. And it’s to the point that oDylan seems nearly catatonic with his depression. And it is in turn crushing his wife. Who is then so invigorated by seeing dreamer Dylan again that she’s lowkey cheating??
And now oDylan has written a letter to iDylan about how this version that he thinks is totally different from himself is the only one his wife loves.
Dylan! He’s you!
Your wife loves you and she missed/was attracted to a you who was expressive about his love for her and his passions.

honestly i think the marching band sequence was one of the most horrifying sequences in the whole episode.
this whole season has been milchick silently contemplating his place at lumon, particularly in regards to his race, and yet he is still pushing through even after abuse from kier "himself". he is still performing.
and frankly i don't think it's being taken as seriously as it should be by the audience!!!!!!
i get that that is partially because it is absurd and out there that lumon would have a whole marching band and partially because tramell tillman brought so much oomf to it (i still cannot believe that this is one of his first acting gigs - he is such a good actor). and also, it's meant to evoke the first season's dance sequence (but i also don't think that's taken as seriously as it should be by the audience soooo--- ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
but like — i felt a similar kind of horror watching the marching band sequence that i did watching get out and us. like. watch this black man in white gloves and a cane who has been consistently put down and othered for his race throughout this entire show, perform at the request of an automaton of the white man who very likely built his company on the backs of former slaves at the end of the civil war, whose company who still effectively employs slave labor and indentured servitude two hundred years in the future.
for milchick, this season began with lumon black face and ended with, effectively, a lumon minstrel show as someone else put it.
that is horrifying.
The robot speech was also clearly written by someone else (or by Milchick in a moment of deep self-hatred) which means the company is again belittling him and this time in front of the people he’s supposed to be in charge of (and people they don’t think are actual people).
I also find it racist that they put in the jab about him being ugly.
