Voicemail
temporary impairment be damned i have to draw ryland grace
I could never find the right way to tell you, have you noticed I've been gone?
"It would have been easier if you'd just said yes."
original
Shots from a PHM animatic I’m doing which I’m planning to post tomorrow!
I saw this Project Hail Mary review that said like "Ryan Gosling has never been more appealing" and then he's flopping around in a tastefully translucent plastic bag with caveman hair and getting wasted and dancing with a mop and barfing into a caution cone and taking every possible opportunity to slip, trip, and bang his face on every available surface.
Dog years
Just rewatched project Hail Mary for the third time and I just wanna give some grace to Carl
I’ve seen a lot of people say that Carl betrayed Grace on his last day on earth and I gotta say that no, Carl didn’t betrayed Grace. No even close.
Imagine for a second that after losing a part of the original space team you hear from your boss that your friend, a guy that humoured your dumb and incredibly uninformed ideas about a alien cell that is eating your plants sun, your friend who joked about making a baby with you, your friend who is probably the kindest smartest person you know and probably will ever know for the rest of your life is going to get sent on a suicide mission to space.
Of course you know that he’s the only person that can do it, you know that he can do it, and you know that’s there’s no way he’s gonna go without a fight.
You are in charge of the team that has to chase him down after he ran, you are probably the last person from earth he will ever hear from again so as he begs for mercy, he yells your name his voice breaking as he slowly fade out of consciousness, all you can do for him is to tell him that you believe in him, and that he’ll do great.
And he calls for you, and his words start to slur and he calls, and he reaches for you and you can’t help him, you can’t save him, all you can do is believe in him.
The parallels between these shots/scenes is making me insane
The vertical position of the shot, despite it being the act of pinned down. But one is "upside down" and the other "rightside up" of:
Grace. Pinned down. Unable to move. Unable to save himself. Becoming unconcious. Ultimatley a death sentence in both cases.
In one case surrounded by people (friends) who Could help. Could step in to say "hey this isnt right", but won't.
In the other, one other person (an alien, but also a friend) is with him, but he is trapped behind a barrier, unable to help.
Except.
Except! He does!! He breaks through the barrier!! At a great danger to himself, almost fatal in fact, to help Grace!! Because he can not stand by and watch a friend die again, not if there is even a single thing he can do to help!
The guards/soldiers dragging an unconscious Grace off to his doom.
Rocky dragging an unconscious Grace to safety and medical care.
Just.... Grace:
Actively trapped and Doomed by passive inaction.
Vs
Passively trapped and Saved by assertive action.
I like my men bloody and bruised, on the verge of consciousness
