i dont understand why jax being suicidal is so different from anyone else’s mental situations? (outside of him being mc?) i’m not saying it isn’t concerning or upsetting but isn’t everyone else… probably suicidal? why do people treat it as some riveting aspect of her character? she’s also just adding to everyone else’s mental struggles AND probably making many of them more suicidal?

Goose made the rest of the cast highly submissive so Jax could appear more cunning and powerful than he actually is because there’s zero reason for him to have such a strong hold on everyone. He has no power over the circus, and he’s not an incredible manipulator. Other characters also recognize that Jax is abusive, yet they’re tolerant of his behavior and offer little resistance, allowing him to do whatever he pleases.
Everyone's leniency on Jax is unrealistic because he's on equal footing with them, having no reason to tolerate him except for the sake of the plot. The same people, who stood up to Caine, the AI who controls them and the circus, never did the same to Jax, who had nowhere near the same power.
Honestly, if Goose hadn't written everyone else to be submissive, then Jax probably would've abstracted sooner because he would've actually faced consequences.

also uh while I have so much planned for these three characters and all of the main cast, I have NO idea what to do with Scratch lmao. The problem is they gave him so little in the show that I really have nothing to work with when it comes to him, but I'll try and figure something out.
Jax is the primary antagonist. He's not going to be romanticized. He's not going to be enabled. He's not going to be encouraged. He's not going to be forgiven.
He is a person who who has done horrible things, and that will not be swept under the rug and forgotten like in the show.
And Pomni's role with him is significantly different. She's not going to try and "fix" him. She's not going to enable him. She's going to actively try and work against him, to be the positive where he's the negative. And she's going to inspire Gangle and Ragatha, to remind them they're people, and not just Jax's toys.
One of the main lessons of this is that having trauma doesn't justify your actions. Just because you've experienced horrible and traumatic events, doesn't mean you can take that out on others who are also suffering.
A critical look at the Jax & Gangle sexual coercion aftermath scene
CW: TADC 9 leaks, mentions of victim blaming, and discussions of sexual coercion.
So thankfully people are talking about Jax's fantasy of sexually coercing Gangle when she's vulnerable, but I haven't seen people talk about the framing of the situation after he leaves.

Already the circumstance were dubious enough, even without the emotional vulnerability of Zooble's death, due to Gangle's hypnomanic episode.
People who suffer from them, oftentimes regret their actions committed afterwards because of the impulsivity and irrational thinking of the mental episode. However, this isn't a case where Gangle's impulsivity got the better of her. She is noticeably uncomfortable and non-recipical to Jax's flirting. After he gave his room key without her explicit consent, she looks unnerved and unsure. This isn't the face of someone who's consenting or excited from the rush of impulsivity.

Then there's this frame afterwards which solidified Jax's true intentions for hooking up with Gangle: it's to degenerate her. Outside of the obvious actions Jax would have commit if he actually respected her and the possibility he didn't know any better out the window since he recognized instantly in Ep4 the mask wasn't Gangle's true self. It's how everyone else reacts afterwards.
They're blank. They don't respond in character, particularly in any negative or worrying ways in witness to this horrifying situation. They just stopped and stare blankly at Gangle as if it was her idea (which even if it was, it's still not her fault that Jax then chose to abuse her). Also why are the NPCs reacting too? They have no proper understanding of consent or the social constructs of Jax's and Gangle's interaction as a whole. It shifts all focus and responsibility onto Gangle, instead of Jax, and projects a societal conscious echoing a sentiment everyone knows better yet will blame her for "giving in".
Although the sequence ends shortly afterwards and it's a fantasy: the implication that Jax fully expect Gangle to agree says enough of what would have happened and will do when a similar situation occurs.
i believe gangle is a victim of sexual harassment but the writers don’t want to acknowledge that
i first started thinking this when she talks to zooble in episode 6
“Gangle: It's Jax, though. He probably wants revenge. And he's gonna make it painful, and-
Zooble: (Softly) Hey, you deserve better than thinking about him when he's not even here. You're a human. (They sit down next to her.) You're not his toy.
Gangle: It sometimes doesn't feel that way.”
i know this probably is supposed to imply physical abuse but the line about being a “toy” just sticks out since toys are often an allusion to sexual assault, a toy can’t consent, a toy is an object, the abuser can play as rough as they want
jax also sexually blackmails her with the jar and her drawings, these are played off as a gag but knowing her relationship with him the writers could have tried to imply jax hurting gangle emotionally
but i know they wouldn’t have even dared to make jax into a sexual abuser because that’s too evil! that's one of the bad bad crimes that can’t be excused so we couldn’t possibly imply that!
and dare i say the fact goose didn’t want to explore the idea of jax doing an irredeemable action is indicative of her own misogyny and obsession with torturing the women she creates
i just really want one of jax’s actions to be taken seriously and not shoved under the rug since he has trauma
