I made this side blog to help organize things because I’m getting a wee bit overwhelmed and don’t want to spam or make my feed really long with my already too long posts lol, but also of course still want to answer your asks. The post is made all the more wild when you learn that I wear sweaters and jackets in my office and some people even have space heaters under their desks during the summer because the AC is turned up so high for the hotter offices along the outside.

Then the opposite is true for the winter where it’s so hot inside people run fans and I get too hot to wear sweaters… let’s just say dressing for work is a nightmare cuz I know it’s 91°F outside but also so freezing inside. Like y’all my poor nose, toes and fingers are such icicles today and it’s only 10am (it usually gets colder in the afternoon due to the high temp of the day).

In the last few years, I moved from the southern US to the northern US. People always joke that people in the south can't handle the cold, or that people in the north can't handle the heat, but I would argue that while upbringing affecting preference is a factor, the more important factor is infrastructure. In Texas, we had lighter, draftier houses that breathed. This helps with heat, but in the winter, if it got down around 15⁰ f (like it usually did up to a couple of times a year), the houses couldn't keep up. It was impossible to heat the indoors over 60⁰, even with blasting the heat. Alternatively, buildings up north don't always have air conditioning, so if it gets up over 95⁰ it is really difficult to handle, especially for prolonged stretches. Climate isn't just personal preference. We have architecture from over the past 100 yrs that is adapted to handle the temps it was before global warming. The architecture in Europe is even older. If people say the temp is untenable, believe them.

Even further when it comes to infrastructure, I think it’s so paramount to stress that I feel like this crisis is in large part related to air conditioning. We in the south are used to 90+ degree summers so we have the fans and AC to mitigate that. It’s hot but we’ll make sure to drink lots of water, hide under the shade and take cover inside or jump in the poor/lake/ocean if needed. Interestingly, southern US and other hot climate states have on average more pools than the northern states. But in northern US it’s common to not even have AC as it’s usually not that bad. Just stick a couple fans in the window to circulate air and it’ll be hot but you’ll survive. Similarly in Europe, it is common to not have AC, and this becomes a problem when there is no escape from the heat to let your body cool. Made worse by the fact that temperatures in the night are not dropping to what they typically do meaning that things are staying hot with no reprieve for your body to recover.

Then there’s the factor of Europe having less cars and promoting more biking and walking which aren’t going to give your body an air conditioned break from the heat. But it’s not like we can just give everyone pools or AC to fix this problem anyways, even in the southern states power outages can be common during a hot week as everyone runs their AC to the max stressing the power grid. So for sure it’s not like the power grids in Europe or other northern US areas are going to be able to handle that load. And there is certainly no where to just put in some pools. So it really does come down to infrastructure and not just in the architecture of housing but also the utility and transportation infrastructure and differences.

So yeah, it’s not about whether people can handle the heat as well as southerners, it’s about how where they live can’t handle the heat and doesn’t have the amenities to combat it…

am I being too parasocial if I was feeling sad about the fallout between cc!Dream and cc!Punz after rewatching streams today [post] and out of curiosity went to see if they are following each other on twitter (perhaps a good sign they made up in some fashion in private?) and noticed that Dream does follow Punz on both accounts and it's toward the top of the list after Dr.Donut so presumably a refollow?...

Literally non or almost non of my friends are the same age as me, even online. We talking decades older and younger btw. And I think while it’s nice to have people your own age it’s also helpful to have friends in different walks of life who can offer diverse perspectives on things, and advice. Sure if you’re all the same age you can complain about the same things, but someone older who has already been through that can offer a comfort or advice that can be helpful. Also funnily enough during covid I became friends with an older grocery store employee because we both lived alone and were lonely.

the oldest video on Dream's channel tells you the type of humour he has, the second oldest (and the ensuing series) tells you that he's a massive nerd, and i don't even know when the first video of him even being remotely good at minecraft is

So I would just like to add, that another reason I don’t think he cheated is that he hasn’t confessed. Think about it, he would look better if he did and probably make more people less upset because at least he’s now honest. But he hasn’t, despite a fairly consistent behavior of owning up to what he’s done. For example, when he realized the recording mod was enabled for the alleged cheated speed run ages later, he didn’t have to come out and confess that after claiming he didn’t cheat. That made him look worse and yet, he still owned up to it. Like the situations where he has resisted the most, usually are the ones where he is innocent or at least is to his knowledge. Which makes sense, no one wants to take the fall for something they didn’t do. I just think if Dream has shown anything it’s his respect for the truth even if sometimes it makes him look bad, and because of that I believe him when he says he didn’t cheat.

Finally watched the new manhunt and while it’s always sad when Dream loses, I am thrilled it was Captain Puffy. Like hell yeah, get him girl boss! Best lose scenario right there. I’m so relieved too because I thought she was gonna get bullied for the ghost block trap and giving Dream her elytra. But let’s go and the fact part of it was Dream underestimating her as the new hunter, makes it even funnier because she certainly proved that she is a force to be reckoned with. Also I think it’s fair that if ever there was a manhunt that the hunters earned it’d be this one with the max enchants and elytra. They really worked so hard so I’m kinda happy for them, even if I also wanted an epic moment of Dream spearing the dragon at the end.

Sorry to get political but I think this is so important and applies to all democratic countries. Your vote matters. You don’t have to let the corrupt rich rule the world. They are no longer in government positions just because of birthright, you can do something as small as coloring in a circle to change things.

So Americans of the United States, I better see you voting in November. Heck, there are likely other local elections this year in your state you should partake in too, but please at least register now so at minimum you can vote in November. They put the polling places near your homes and the hours are open for a long period so you can go before or after work or even submit an absentee ballot if you can’t. And if you are unable to vote, encourage your friends and relatives to vote, because it can make a difference. 5 votes in Florida determined this election, and next time you can be one of those 5.

Bruhhh…. I went on Reddit for a completely different reason and then noticed people talking about Dream cheating… again… and I’m just gonna say that once again it’s really hard for me to take evidence of cheating for a video game based on analyzing old footage as creditable when it comes from people who already hate Dream and just after he posts the six hunter video. Like it’s not even just wanting Dream’s downfall anymore it’s clout chasing. They only start surfacing like this now right when he’s getting popular like okay bro, either your superior moral compass just now discovered this evidence (which isn’t likely since this footage is ages old) or now that he’s becoming popular you want to make a video about him to ride the view train…

Also in that manhunt they spent a lot of time in a bastion because Dream was getting unlucky trades, which kinda did happen in this manhunt so there’s that…
