“How well exactly?” She asked the girl, raising an eyebrow.
"Isn't it part of my right to remain silent because everything I will say might be taken against me?"
News traveled fast, and not just on campus as it turned out. She was coming out of the science building from her latest lecture when she got an unexpected call from her father. It was a short conversation, and the words weren’t worth repeating, but the message was very clear: she had disappointed her father once again, and this time is was the final straw. Don’t bother coming home.
She had been expecting it, and the stupidest part was that, at that moment, she was the most mad that he had caught her unawares - that she hadn’t been able to control the situation and he had instead trapped her while she was on campus, out in the open, where anyone could see her world crumble apart just that little bit more. Or maybe she was more mad that the tears came to her eyes no matter how many times she told herself the man wasn’t worth it. It was a tie really, but luckily the inner conflict confused her long enough to pull herself together to assure the person giving her a concerned look that she was fine.
“I’m fine,” she said, her voice reedy as she wiped angrily at her eyes. “Just - pregnancy bullshit.”
"No, you're not." As the memories of their past conversation resurfaced, Rowan just sighed as the puzzle pieces was coming together to form a clear picture. "Now, everything makes sense." She said and sighed. "So, who's the father?"
“I could argue my way out of a murder, okay. I’m that good.’ Alaska told the person sitting beside her, crossing her legs and smoothing her sweater down a bit. “So with that being said, you should totally let me help you the next time you need a lawyer-ish presence.”
"I would but then I'm so good at doing illegal things I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be caught."
The blonde was sitting still on the grass, completely unaware of the activity around her. She was holding a canvass, something she hasn’t held for a long time, not after her father found her artworks and threw them all in the trash. She knew she had a couple of assignments to accomplish but her fingers were itching to hold a paintbrush. Her fingers were also itching to finally combine colors, making them into something pure. She was so intoxicated with the promise of going back to doing what she loved that she didn’t realize a figure going near her. And when she did finally noticed, she quickly turned over her canvass and replaced it with a science book, smiling by the passerby, hoping that they had not seen what she was just holding.
Rowan let out a laugh seeing the other girl's reaction when she caught a glimpse of what she was doing. "I'm pretty sure whatever you are doing is legal."
“Horrible, yeah. But better than waking up to work. Did they really think they could make me work?” he scoffed, taking a piece of food from the buffet table, “Social gatherings like these are already horrible as it is. But at least there’s food.” he said, his mouth still full from the food he took.
"Yeah, I feel you. I think I only showed up once. I pretended I was sick." It wasn't really far-fetched though. She spend most nights drunk and woke up with a terrible headache the next day. "Food and drinks. This is what I'm here for."
“Would you believe I skipped two days of work and woke up to a formal event?” he chuckled at the person beside him, drinking the spiked drink he was holding.
"What a horrible thing to woke up to, eh?" She said then took a sip of drink. "Well, it is horrible until they are all through with this." She grinned as if she was pleased with herself while gesturing towards the punch bowl.
Kara took a sip of the drink and raised her eyebrows, “What do you mean whatever I am on? I have only had a few sips of this drink so it’s definitely not the alcohol. It’s just me.”
"So you normally talk like you're high as fuck?"
Kara picked up a drink which she could tell smelt of alcohol but she knew she wasn’t going to drink as much as she had done last time, sighing she took a sip of it before smiling looking around, at the time she wasn’t sure if someone was there but she smiled, “You know this place looks amazing, it’s like living in a fairy tale, sometimes these stories do become real, this better be a good night that’s all I am saying.”
With furrowed brows, she looked at Kara curiously then she let her gaze swept around the area before looking back at her. "Whatever you're on, I want it."
“Whoever created heels was definitely best friends with the devil,” Maia muttered as she walked through the crowded hall. She felt herself stumble and she crashed into someone. “Whoops. I’m so sorry!”
She quickly stretched her hand with a glass away to keep it from spilling, the other hand on Maia to keep her from completely tripping. "Don't tell me you had too much of punch already."
(via four (spring formal))
It seems like so many people are challenging the statement. “When you’re not cleaning up after those rich assholes, yeah,” he answered, shrugging. He kept staring at the pool, not really looking at who he was talking to. Until she asked him about tennis. It made his eyebrows flick upwards, and he turned to see that the girl had long brown hair, and equally brown eyes. “Looking for what?” he asked, although he obviously heard.
Rowan had rolled her eyes at his response. "Oh come on, you heard me." She took another swig of her drink before looking back at him. "Do you play tennis?"
Finding an unattended golf cart was the highlight of Rowan's day. She didn't even think twice before riding it. Rowan was not sure if they were allowed to drive a golf cart. It was not really stated in the rules. Although, she might have missed it since she never rarely listen to them. It has been a year since she had drive something. After she ran her Volvo into a lamp post, her parents refused to give her a car again. It was a little rough at the beginning until she had managed to make it work although the maximum speed she could drive it was to slow for her desires. Rowan was not exactly attentive on where she was going that was why she did not see the person about to get in her way right away. She abruptly stumped her food on the brake and slammed her chest on the steering wheel. "What the fuck." She muttered while rubbing her chest then she looked over in front of her to check if she caused any harm.
Isaac sat up as soon as the water hit him, an eyebrow raised. “Dude. You trying to start a fight that we both know you’re gonna lose or what?”
"Me? Losing?" Rowan laughed, throwing her head a little before turning to him. "You're funny."
Maia sat up at her words and raised an eyebrow. “Really? That’s…unfortunate,” she replicated the shudder before taking another sip of her drink. “I do miss Charlton though..sitting around doing nothing can get quite boring at times.”
She shrugged then sipped on her drink. "Yeah, to be honest, I never thought I'm gonna say this but I miss Charlton too. maybe, country clubs just aren't my style. What do you find appealing in this place though?"
”So, a formal…” She said with a light puff of air as she untied her apron from around her hips. Surprisingly, she was giddy for the formal. Not nervous or even anxious, just almost excited enough for her not to worry. “With dresses and stuff… That sounds…”
"Horrible." She finished her sentence.
“Have any of the members mentioned a missing dog?” Warren looked around, only to turn back to the puppy and have his nose licked. “Because this little guy just ran through the door, and I don’t think he’s supposed to be on the kitchen staff.”
"You are right, it's not supposed to be in the kitchen," she agreed. "It belongs to hell."
“Apparently I was nominated for best sense of humor. So, I’m officially launching my campaign. Ready? What’s green and has sweet dance moves?”
"All I can think of is Shrek," she slurred a little bit. "Wait is that a joke?"
