This account is mainly for original posts, my original art, writing, analysis and whatnot. I may post the occasional fandom post from time to time, but if I get heavily invested in a fandom, I'll make a sideblog for it.

I want to keep this blog (my main blog) strictly for original posts, as much as I can anyway. I've made a sideblog for reblogs so they don't flood my main.

Fandom sideblogs tend to be a mix of original content and reblogs, my distinction between main blog and rb sideblog is mostly so my main isn't flooded by random posts I find funny, or just things I agree with.

I don't have much to say here, I'm pretty open when it comes to boundaries, the only thing that's really bothered me here is getting hate reblogs, if that happens I won't hesitate to block for it.

Beyond that I'm fully comfortable with getting asks and stuff, if you want to ask me something or just interact with me at all don't hesitate! I might not be the best at talking to people but I do enjoy it, especially if it connects to topics I'm passionate about.

As a side note, while I do try to check blogs of people I interact with in case it's a terf or whatever, sometimes you never know, so if I do reblog something from someone who's done something shitty don't hesitate to let me know with an ask or something because chances are I probably don't know.

was looking up pride flags and noticed on the wiki there's a few alt transmasc flags, but no alt transfem flags listed and that kinda made me sad. So, here's a potential alt design with explanations:

(Transmasc flag to the left, Transfem flag to the right) I figured in reflecting the trans umbrella pride flag it would be best to colorpick from there, so the bottom colors are the blue and pinks it uses. The purple, like other alt trans umbrella flags I've seen, is to represent the intersections, the 'transition' from the blue to the pink, as well as the identities that may lie inbetween masc and fem, while still being more aligned with the colors each flag more prominently presents. The blues and pinks get more saturated and dark in the center, representing the fluidity within masculine and feminine identities. With the trans-flag-colorpicked baby blue and baby pink in the center, representing 'baby transmascs/transfems' AND identities that fall closer to the androgynous end of masculinity/femininity, therefore closer to the spectrum between masc and fem. The more dark, solid colors in the center are representative of transmascs/transfems who find their identities leaning closer to the binary, binary trans men and trans women. I'd like to think I designed these flags in a way that accounts for the spectrum between them! I hope people enjoy them.

LAM - the artist of Miku V6 - is a creep.

Okay. I had some issues with Miku's V6 design, some suspicions on the way details were drawn, that it was likely drawn by a man who objectifies women. I was right. Let's rip the bandaid off with the worst:

So, uh, what is this character's canon age, that he decided to change her canon body type and the team skull uniform to show cleavage for?

Yeah that's just straight up sexualizing an 11 year old character. Even the original team skull uniform, even with the mask covering her chest pushed aside, does not show cleavage. Edit because some idiots wanna claim Lillie is just 'aged up' and 'went through puberty' here (even though LAM's post has nothing indicating that) - If I remember right, Nebby (the pokemon next to her in the art) evolves at the end of the game, so this HAS to be before Nebby evolves timeline-wise (since even if she was 'evil' Nebby would get XP and whatnot) Even if that wasn't the case, team skull disbanded by the end of the game (when Lillie was still 11 years old) so an aged-up Lillie COULDN'T have joined Team Skull because they wouldn't exist at that time. This HAS to be roughly-11-year-old-Lillie being drawn with cleavage here. This is not the only time this artist has made.. questionable design choices when drawing women.

I'm not cherrypicking by the way. This is the majority of the art on his social medias. For comparison, here's how he draws men:

Men get dynamic lighting, intense shading, dynamic poses, lots of detail with no sign of sexualization, and the women standing next to them.. get minimal shading and intense makeup. Definitely not suspicious at all. (seriously why does the guy on the left have so much more detail in his jacket and belt's shading than the shading on the clothes of the woman in the center?)

So yeah I'm pretty confident in saying he was showing even more of this creep behavior when drawing Miku V6's ref sheet like this.

rambling about miku v6's design and why it looks so off to me

I don't think the design is like, irredeemably awful or anything, but there's a lot of details that really don't sit right and I wanna ramble about it since I'm really passionate about character design. Normally I'd be a lot kinder when doing something like this, but for context, the guy who made this design is a massive creep. So I'm not really gonna have much restraint when criticizing the design.

This is the final result, if you want to see why I made the changes I did, below is my step by step process!

One of the biggest problems as to why the grey and white shirt doesn't work for me is skin tone. To explain this while joking about it, uh,

She fits right in <3 The whitest of them all.. Notice how much more contrast there is from her shirt and collar when you give her an actual fleshy skin tone?

Let's also fix her tiny waist and uplifted skirt while we're at it..

Okay. The next problem is the borders.. Let me explain.

Notice how the ends of the shoes/thigh highs and sleeves have blue borders? But, the skirt doesn't.. Not to mention, having the boot be a darker black while every other black piece is the same.. It completely ruins the pattern and makes it feel very out of place.. Let's fix that.

That helps the color palette work WAY better! yay! But, hold on.. Why is the skirt still uneven? OH. There's only one belt on the side! Every other part of the design is symmetrical, but the belt is asymmetrical.. I'll be honest. I really don't like how lazy the belt's pattern is.. I find her design works better in fanart that removes the blue-fade side-belt.. But, it is a shame to lose an element of the design that was inspired by the original. For now, I'll remove it, as it just looks really odd anyway.

This is where we start to reach the problem of "Why is it like this when compared to the original?" Look how beautifully detailed her original gray shirt was..

It really makes V6 look bland by comparison. The weird tie clip stripe looks odd too, specially when the OG has 2 tie-clips.. So, let's try and add some of those elements to fix V6's weird shirt!

Hell yeah! One final touch.. I think if they're gonna have the collar be a different color than the gray.. There's no other white in this design. At all. So why not make it black instead?

Alright! I'm pretty happy with these edits. I think they're a drastic improvement over the original design.. I also made the belt the lighter black so that there's still contrast without the bright blue of the belt melting into the bright blue of the shirt's edges. I think it helps let the belt stick out with the pink clip, but not overpowering the design and drawing the eye too much.

WIP Niku redesign

Figured now that I've made more progress on this it'd be fun to show off my progress. I decided fuck it on that magenta/pink original Miku had because I really like the way this pastel purple looks for her.. Redesigned her hairstyle to be more unique and made her hair a lot longer because I really like the idea of her having the long hair segments but having it naturally fall in front/over her shoulders instead of back/behind her shoulders. Plus, it's pretty fitting honestly. This same hair color palette is almost the same as the first OC I ever made, and I thought it'd be fitting as well for that OC to be inspired by Niku for her hairstyle in-story/lore/whatever. So. Full circle <3 I almost cried thinking about it LOL

ribbon cables are so silly to me as an actual piece of electronics/engineering. like ohh... what a whimsical way to connect two wires. could it have been done any other way? i dunno! maybe! but an electric ribbon is pretty neat

oh my god i just remembered the weird fucking dream i had. it was partially like a video game but every once in a while you'd get the opportunity to learn a new swear word like a fucking pokemon move. and if you ever said it/used it the cops would go after you and you'd become wanted and have to run. and by the end the highest level "swear" you could learn was a slur. but they were all in a made up language anyway so i don't even know what the swears or slurs were supposed to be.

Humanoid robot designs that remove/make the waist an empty floating space are just so strange to me because like. hold on!! I can't design outfits for them if an entire section of their body is missing!! that's like. the middle of the body. that's the part that has a lot of variation in outfits in character design!! no crop tops.. no belt with a tucked in baggy shirt.. no corset.. no ribbon, old torn cape, or jacket messily tied around their waist... all gone..

FINALLY I HAVE SOMETHING TO POST

Finally finished drawing this trio of my WIP. Hoping to dedicate more time to this so I can show off the full piece sooner than later.

I just realized, it's really funny that around the time I realized I was trans, my favorite color scheme to draw my characters with was pink and blue. Ironically, before I fully realized my gender even aligned masc (at the time I still identified as she/they nonbinary,) my sona's main color was blue. lol. Even funnier, the more I began to realize I didn't align with being feminine/being a girl at all, the pink began to fade and disappear from their designs, being replaced with a lavender-pastel-blueish-purple color.
