i just finished heated rivalry and itās amazing and i love it and i see so much of my personal experience with queerness in the story but also i am now down a hockey rabbit hole
and like tell me why i am actually so bitter that the NHL and PWHL rules on fighting are so different- like i am a 21 yo girl who has never played hockey in my life, but i am still like .. deeply offended by the fact that the women are penalized for punching more than the men
like maybe part of this is the fact that i play rugby which is full contact and same rules for men and women but like damn women deserve to be able to throw a punch if the men can

ok so i saw someone (sorry if it was u i couldnāt find the post) say that jean would be built like a football player and i would like to counter with he would be built like a rugby forward (iād say flanker/ lock) but really any of the foward pack
bc like- football has so many time outs, and thatās why their players are built the way they are- rugby, while also being a very very contact heavy sport, doesnāt have many time outs, which seems much more in line with how exy is played (that being said, iām not 100% sure i truely understand exy)
like the contact in exy probably more closely mirrors football (no padding in rugby and also there are tackle height limits) but also, iām pretty certain you can only check when the person has/ is about to have ball (correct me if iām wrong) which is a rugby rule
but the way play continues seems much more like rugby to me
also would kinda explain how neil/ other are so small and still so good at game, bc rugby, partially because of play time (also other factors) has a much greater diversity of height/ build for players
