I think part of getting better is complete ego death. Like you’re not above setting a timer for 5 minutes and focusing on a task. You’re not above doing a very simple 3 minute workout to start. You’re not above reading for 10 minutes a day when you first get out of your reading slump, even if you used to read for hours. You’re not above starting slow and then building up to where you want to be/where you once were. What you are above is total inertia. Doing something really is better than doing nothing. Radically accept where you are, radically accept your limits, and go from there. Don’t let your ego get in the way.

pretty sure I did the chrome//flags thing a while ago, but also i switched to firefox, which is not without the occasional bullshit, but is vastly less bullshitty than chrome. This is why I treat genai "features" like the invasive blackberry bushes they are: cut, root, burn, and vigilantly watch for new shoots to uproot. I'm 54 years old and the world got by fine without genai for most of my lifetime.

After making the switch off of Windows and towards Linux I've managed to avoid chromium on my personal devices. It's just a pity so many of the tools I need to use on my work PC don't work on Firefox or its forks so I can't cut them out entirely

I think it's interesting to frame Satoru's choice to seek megumi out a whole year after everything with Toji and only after Suguru left as him trying to fill some irreplaceable hole inside himself. To frame it as satoru fighting against his terrible loneliness, and only looking for a replacement. And while I enjoy this just as much because of the twsited possession/ownership aspect of that relationship, it feels a bit hollow if I try to think more about it.

Toji tells satoru that his son will be sold to the zenin as he is bleeding out and dying. He doesn't supply satoru with any other information, he doesn't even urge satoru to do anything in particular with said piece of information. He just lets him know something and asks him to use his own judgement for what he ultimately does with it.

Toji says this, something that feels like a statement but carries with it a lot of implications, but only if you look for it, to a recently resurrected Satoru, who by Toji's own assessment was 'high'. Satoru had just unlocked RCT and reached his enlightenment. His perceptions are all out of whack in that fight with toji and even after, when he has to ask suguru if they should kill everyone in that church because his own judgement and reasoning isn't working the way it is supposed to at the moment. How much importance does a piece of information coveyed to him, that doesn't even pertain to satoru specifically, hold? Especially when he is like this?

After the amanai mess, we see satoru working hard to make himself beyond anybody's reach. Inviolable. A trauma response. How often did he even think back to the incidents that led to all of this? It's not even just that toji negated infinity and killed him, he also failed in his mission to protect amanai. Toji also killed amanai. Would he actually want to look at those memories any closely? Would his memories from when he killed toji even be reliable?

But then suguru leaves and that's when he has to look at everything from a closer angle. Analysing every single detail that led to suguru's defection, the slow deterioration that was going on right in front of him. The one he didn't realise because he was also dealing with his own version of it on his own terms. He finally has to look at it head on and account for every piece of memory that he finds and maybe that's when toji's son being sold to the zenin = a possible sorcerer finally clicks for him. And that's why he only goes after megumi AFTER suguru leaves. Because that's when he has to think about those events again. Something I think he avoided doing voluntarily for all that time.
