When he spoke and walked over, Anna found herself raising a hand to cover the exsphere exposed on her chest. If he hadn’t seen it yet, she was certain he would notice it at a closer distance. But she wasn’t sure how she could respond when she stopped having a voice. It was all she could do to continue staring at the statue and shake her head in response to his question.

This was definitely not her first time in Luin. While the roads from one place to another had remained mostly the same, the structure of the city had changed, but she still remembered this place. It was part of her past, her home, even if she could never live here again.

After a moment, she swallowed hard and glanced at the boy, Lloyd, before she grabbed her pack and dug through it for the pad of paper she’d bought. She never thought she would need to use it to communicate, but she’d already used several pages from it. Quickly she wrote down an answer and turned the pad over so he could read it.

‘ I used to live in this city, but it’s changed a lot since the last time I was here. ’

“Shit.”

She already had her weapon ready, but she wasn’t fully prepared to fight. And unfortunately, there was no other option, not if she wanted to remain free. She couldn’t let him capture her again.

So as the troops under his command charged forward, Anna shifted into her fighting stance. Moving fluidly, she thrust the thin blade forward and stabbed one man in the arm, forcing him to drop his weapon. She then jumped back out of another’s reach, and parried his blade with her own. But there were those fighting with whips and crossbows.

Anna narrowly dodged the crossbow bolt aimed at her, and nearly tripped over the whip aimed at her feet. Dammit, she had to be more careful, or at least knock those two out. They were going to be troublesome.

With an opening, Anna moved to take out the crossbowman, but she didn’t get very far. The sudden pain in her chest, along with the glow from her exsphere, made her pause in her steps. “Not... now...” She grit her teeth, but still sank to her knees, just barely holding herself up by her limbs. Goddess, she felt so exhausted now, she couldn’t even protest when one of the Desian troops pushed her over.

It took all of her willpower just to keep from screaming, the pain in her chest was that intense. Even when it finally subsided, she could just make out the Desians, and Kvar. She could just make him out through the haze before her exhaustion dragged her into unconsciousness.

Triet was the in the other direction. They had started heading towards Palmacosta, which meant passing over Hakonesia Peak. To go to Triet, they’d have to turn around and cross over towards Izoold. And there was the Ossa Trail to think of. Not that it was any more dangerous either way, but passing through Triet was also the direction of Iselia...

Anna’s thoughts turned to Dirk, once again wondering if she could just ask him for a Key Crest...

Wait... Tethe’alla? The moon? Anna blinked and stared at Yuan for a moment, as though he’d just grown a second head. Yet there was something very familiar about the name in regards to... something else.

“I get the feeling you’re not referring to the moon.” Anna said slowly, the idea still turning around in her head. Tethe’alla was more than just the name of the moon, wasn’t it? Where had she heard that before?

She didn’t have the energy to go on, not for lack of food or sleep, she hadn’t needed either for almost a year. No, it was from loss of blood. Just because she couldn’t feel pain, didn’t mean she couldn’t get hurt. It was so easy to sustain injuries when she couldn’t tell they were there. And she was out of healing items as well.

That was perfect, of course. She couldn’t call for help of any kind, and she was bleeding out... and the monsters she’d accepted the job to kill were still out there. At least, there were only a few left compared to before. She hadn’t expected them to get help.

So she stumbled through the woods, trying to staunch the flow of blood from the worst of her wounds. She was getting slower by the minute, less energy, less clarity. Already she could barely see, the edges of her vision dark. She couldn’t draw in a breath properly, and some things seemed unusually bright to her eyes. So bright it actually hurt to keep them open.

No. I can’t stop now.

She’d never find help that way... stumbling through the trees some more, she lost her footing and fell into a tree. For a moment, she lost her breath, and had to force herself to remember to breathe. A glance up brought a comforting sight... a house of sorts. Anna gathered what little strength she had left and made her way closer.

A hand poised to knock on the door, but her strength gave way at the last minute, and instead she stumbled to the ground, falling halfway against the door. Sliding to the ground, she knew she was in an awkward position, one that honestly should have been painful... but that was the least of her concerns. If no one lived out here, she was out of luck.

Brown eyes stared almost blankly at the nearby trees, as she still struggled to breathe. Please. She thought. Please, let someone live here.

She’d been in Luin last she checked, but now she was clearly somewhere else. The paths of this city reminded her a little of Palmacosta, only bigger and... well, grander. Most people were ignoring her for the most part, but Anna was definitely lost, and she kind of wished someone would notice that at some point.

A sigh left her lips as she decided to try and ask around. Maybe someone could direct her back to Luin? She did still have a job there, after all.

Before she realized it, she was bumping right into someone. Anna stumbled back a few steps, trying to catch her balance, and then looked up at the man she’d wandered into. Red eyes, glasses, and dressed in a blue uniform that... almost looked like a military uniform somehow.

Quickly she checked herself and looked at the ground. “I, um... Sorry about that. Guess I wasn’t watching where I was going.” She let out a soft laugh.
