Welcome to the City of Clearcastle!
A sneak peek into the world of Fortune Fragments…
A hub of trade, history, and opportunity! Clearcastle stands in the idyllic crossing where the great River Mane meets the sea. Its iconic castle has housed the nation’s royalty– the Fate chosen rulers of the kingdom for centuries– and lies now in the hands of the young King Alec, who has yet to earn his people’s favor.
The people of Clearcastle put their faith in the grand Temple of Fate, who preaches to the citizens that all things are as they should be and that the future’s course has already been written. The grand plan of Fate cannot, and should not, be interfered with.
But there is another group working in the shadows who think differently….
The secret guild of Foretellers possesses the ancient knowledge of fortune telling, and believes that the people of the world need guidance in the endless chaos of life’s choices. They are sending you, a newly-trained foreteller, to a fortune telling shop located at the heart of Clearcastle’s city center. The Foreteller’s Parlour on Market Street has always housed a “Teller” and now it’s your turn to scry into the souls and hearts of the people of Clearcastle. But are the guild’s gifts worth leaving everything behind for?
In Clearcastle, everyone (Well, almost. We’ll get to that.) owns a soul stone, a magical trinket tied to their innate soul energy. The stones are used to power new world machines that bring great opportunities of the future to the citizens and ease their everyday lives. The capabilities of each stone differ, mirroring the will and strengths of their owners. More than anything, the material of your stone is tied to your class. As the Temple says, the Fate is set in stone. But you, a foreteller, can use your client’s stone to see into their possible futures as well as their tangled past.
The different futures you see cannot be changed, but the road in between is still branching, and it’s your duty to advise your clients toward their fates. Do you choose what’s best for them, for your guild, or for yourself?
“Good fortunes to you!”
