Bombay Winter

Not sure about you guys, but I certainly love winter clothing. Bombay winters however don’t allow us to flaunt our checked scarves and classic trench coats; and I would certainly attract a lot of attention if not judgment if I went out in knee high boots!!

I find Bombay winters slightly tricky. Chilly enough to wear something light but not cold enough for a leather jacket. For this reason I love collecting cardigans, blazers and light jackets. This lilac trench is a new addition to my closet from Zehra and co. I paired it with  monochrome leggings and a top. To add some bling (like always) I paired a two black and silver necklaces to match the monochrome-ness in my outfit. If you guys haven’t noticed I’ve worn black and silver accessories and not black and gold! This is a first for me. *brush your  shoulders off AK* To create more structure I paired a thick greyish brown belt with this silver belt from Zehra and co.

Layering has been my new love recently. Going a tad bit extreme I have layered both my necklaces and belts. This lilac trench is my staple this winter. Trendy, sophisticated and perfectly warm ☺

Dhoti Pant Gold and Pleats and Humble. Originating from traditional Indian male attire, the dhoti has not yet lost it’s charm. It’s back with a bang with edgy patterns and pleats. This champagne coloured dhoti from Palanquine is perfectly pleated and is the perfect length. The pleats add volume and shape to your outfit. I would wear this with a crop top for a more western brunch look. But I think a champagne coloured dhoti is perfect for a more modern Indian look. I paired my dhoti pants with this beautiful, royal velvet saree blouse to give it a "crop top and pants" kind of feel. I think this look is perfect for the upcoming festive season. Recently my style has been very matchy and co-ordinated. Pairing things together to make each piece look like a part of ONE big harmonious outfit. Having bought this top from http://goo.gl/MzLZGp I was initially quite confused about what to pair it with. But since I had a perfectly co-ordinated skirt with similar strong black lines, I had to!

I would call this look Clean. Sharp. Refined. Classy. Coordinated. Fashionable.

I would also pair this top with a dull gold one length skirt for a more High Fashion. Edgy. Glam look. Or with jeans for a Fun. Flirty kind of Look.

Silver & Denim

There is something about Silver and Denim that I love! I think the silver can give the denim a very boho vibe and can make it look very sophisticated as well. These silver baubles from ShopRhea are perfect in completing my denim on denim look.

I just so happened to find the exact same shade of jeans and a denim jacket to pair together. It gives it a very co-ord feel. Co-ords tend to be a tad bit formal. And I just love how denim, thats super casual can be co-ordinate to look quite dressy. Although, I am all for pairing different shades of denim together!

Step 5: Ready Set Go. Comfy yet Cool. Get your boho chic vibe on. And take the street with style.

Coming back to Step 4: When I think of accessories I think of Fancy or Party or BigChunkyGoldNecklace. But recently I have been just throwing on light accessories onto my everyday outfits and I am loving it. Street To Chic

One of my favourite dress up games is to take something casual and make it formal and edgy. I like to call it #Street to Chic or #Rags to Riches. Also, its makes great hashtags

I decided to pimp my basic boyfriend ripped jeans by pairing them with a black strappy top and my favourite white blazer and matching white heels.

Accessorising adds that perfect bling to complete any look!

I couldn’t find anything more perfect than these necklaces from Rhea jewelry! And obviously I wore two- more is always more for me! The gold chains are perfect on the black top and white blazer. Also the chains match my gold zip. So cool. I think styling lies in these minute details that usually go unnoticed.

I am totally going to repeat this because I think its just perfect. Not too casual. Not super formal. Very fashionable. But still comfy. Can be worn for brunch, out at night, or anything if you are your fashionable self!

Stacked Belts and Matchy Wedges

It is a thumb rule for men to match their belts and shoes. Not only the colour but also the shade! This is not really true for girls. Although, I think it is important to know which colours blend well together; to make your belt and shoes look like a part of one outfit.

In this look I have stacked 6 belts together. More like on top of each other to create a very strong and chunky look. If you have been following my blog you will know how I am a sucker for all things bold. Talking about all things bold, #GoBoldOrGoHome is my favourite hash tag for outfits like these :P

Coming to the wedges! These are my favourite pair of wedges from Hats Off Accessories and can be paired with anything street style or more sophisticated. Crushing Over Capes

Currently I am crushing over these floor length super dressy capes!. The reason for this being, as a garment they are very versatile. In the sense they can be buttoned up or down, paired with different coloured jeans or pants.

Or you can wear it like Batman does!

Also capes are perfect for Bombay winters. I am not a huge fan of wearing blazers over dresses. And if you aren’t too I think this is perfect to keep you warm as well as dressy.

According to me capes work for most body types as they create structure and make you look defined. They can define your waist if you are on the heavier side and create volume if you are on the skinnier side.

The Military Trend

With the military/khaki trend adorning the SS15 runway shows, I decided to do a post with a khaki coloured short suedette trench. This short trench is my current favourite because of it's androgynous colour but feminine silhouette. I would always pair military green with an ox blood red. To make this look a tad bit bold and out there because that's my style; I added a couple of colours and prints to it. I paired it with a geometric printed shirt tucked into a gold skirt and accessorised it with a floral necklace, an animal print belt and London :)

Colourful much? #ILikeItLikeThat 

I have never been a pegged skirt kind of girl even though I think they look really chic. But this green H&M skirt was a sure purchase mainly because of its colour. Green is my favourite colour even though you’ll might think otherwise, as I am always adorning myself in white, gold or black.  For this post I wanted to experiment with colour and decided to pair the green skirt with yellow wedges and a hot pink bag. Obviously I didn’t fail to add white and gold to the outfit :P According to me the white and gold adds sophistication to the outfit without making it look like a crayon box. The entire look is quite summery with the summery colours and the floral motif going through it. Even though it is winter, I always dress like it’s the summer. If you guys have something green and unsure what to pair it with, I suggest pairing it with a deep red, navy blue, light yellow beige or gold.

Black And Gold Again

If you are up-to-date with my blog you will realise my love for black and gold. This post is however a little different as I have experimented with a black jumpsuit and gold Indian jewellery.

The black jumpsuit is by an upcoming fashion label called ZEHRA by Disha Vaswani. I loved the idea of using an Indian print fabric for the jumpsuit and latkans as a belt. It’s a fresh fusion of concepts to create an indo western outfit. I have paired this jumpsuit with a statement necklace, earrings, belt, bangles and a payal. All Gold

I love how this look has come together. It is totally my style. Over the top. Bold. Strong. Yet feminine.

Twinning it

It is exciting being experimental with colours, prints and silhouettes. However sometimes it is fun doing the opposite. Being matchy can also look very fun and chic. In this look I have matched my shoes and bag in addition to the uniform print.  To accessorize and add another colour I have worn a gold statement necklace with a gold body chain.

Mixing Materials

When I play dress up, I love mixing unpredictable prints and pieces of clothing. The blue skirt is a statement in itself, however one statement might not always be enough. Be innovative. Be Bold. Crop top & Skirt from Madison Heels from Kurt Geiger Ferociously Feminine My style various according to my mood. Sometimes a little too feminine and other times edgy and cool. Being experimental I have paired together a formal silk mid length skirt with a casual lion print t-shirt. The sophistication of the skirt and the rawness of the t-shirt come together to form this very edgy semi-formal outfit. The pearl necklace with the white heels adds a feminine touch to the look.

Sidra Achwa

  It is rare to go to an exhibition and absolutely love everything there is on display. But that’s not the case with Sidra Achwa’s collection at Olive, Mumbai as I wanted to buy everything! Greedy me.

  On entering, the first thing that caught my eye were her bags. Those beauties met all the criteria I look for before buying a bag. They were sturdy, stylish, spacious and classic. Most importantly they were of good quality at an affordable price.

  My other favourites from her collection were the printed jumpsuits, high waisted skirts and the chunky earrings. They were supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

Casual Much

Boyfriends jeans + White = Perfection.

With this white beauty I decided to pair a mint coloured top, white and black pumps and a grey bag. I love the combination of baggy jeans and heels. The jeans give a very androgynous look to the outfit while the heels adds a sexy and sophisticated touch;  making it perfect for a brunch or a casual day out.

Embroidery and Stripes 

This look is a no brainer. While deciding what to wear one day, I randomly pulled out this embroidered top and the striped pair of shorts and loved how it looked. The softness of the embroidery compliments the masculine stripes creating a perfect balance. Not to forget! Its classic navy and white. 

However what’s different in this post, is the bag. Made by Isha jhunjhunwala for one of her projects; I find this bag made out of a book super cool and had to share it with you’ll. The sling bag/book has a case to store your Iphone, a slot for your headphones and pages to scribble on! It’s the perfect bag to carry out to the park or for a walk!
