Dog & Bitch Island, by Robert Blake Whitehill. A No-Nonsense Character-Driven Thriller.

One can read many books about the SEALs, aircraft, and boats. However one can identify a genuine author based on their attention to detail that either comes from personal knowledge of the subject matter they write about or that they’ve done extensive research, something that Whitehill has mastered. This was my first impression of Dog and Bitch Island by Robert Blake Whitehill. It’s the first book I’ve read from this author featuring former SEAL, Ben Blackshaw.

My thoughts on Jessica Jones, season 2.

Season 2 of Jessica Jones premiered on March 8, 2018 on Netflix. While I was semi-impressed with the first season, and enjoying seeing Jones in action in The Defenders, I was looking forward to seeing her return for another solo season. However, if you're looking for the edge-of-your-seat action and suspense that most likely had you binge-watching Netflix's Daredevil and Luke Cage, you'll be disappointed.

The characters were interesting and well developed, but the pacing wasn't the greatest. There were many instances I fell asleep because the story dragged. The season was also plagued with an improper balance between the contrasting scenes. My biggest issue, however, was that the writers made the fatal error of creating an antagonist whom we'll feel sorry for instead of someone we'll love to hate. I got through it only because I wanted to see how it ended, and because I hoped that it would get better. In the end it was okay. But considering the subject matter, it had the potential to be much greater.
