Hey friend...unsure if you're referring to my post, but I still love omgcp a lot!!! I just find it funny that the falconers are basically the penguins and love how much n draws from actual real life events. No hate meant. xo
I fully forgot I made an I'll advised post while half asleep, hmmWell, a tag was sorta directed at a specific post, but overall I'm just really tired of and annoyed at how the hockey fandom seems to feel this need to reassert its dominance every time an omgcp update comes out. Especially fans who got into hockey through omgcp seem so eager to now reject it and ensure people know they're a Real Fan Now and won't have any of that Nonsense and will prove it by being unnecessarily nitpicky about ngozi... Using references like any other artist. Or any number of things I've seen hockey fans fuss about that seem to both be about how they feel the comic isn't realistic enough, and how they think it's just a carbon copy of Sid at the same time. Both fandoms have become really toxic to me in the not so recent past, and seeing one trying to drag the other down so much just makes that clearer. There's a reason I haven't posted much at all on this blog in like, months.I feel like hockey fandom has such a huge superiority complex problem focused on defining yourself by what you hate, whether it be a team, a player, or a fake hockey comic that's no longer "serious" enough for you. It feels sad that the majority of hockey fans who became such through omgcp have now turned on it so viciously, and it's always bothered me how awful hockey fans who weren't into the comic spoke of it and fans of it, as if it makes us lesser or not "real" fans, or as if the comic itself is basically just copied from life, as if any of us could come up with a story or characters remotely like what she's done. This is a long winded answer that isn't really relevant to you sorry, I just have a lot of thoughts and feelings about the fandoms as a whole, and I really apologize if it felt like I was vagueing at you specifically, you're cool and definitely not part of the real problem I'm discussing here, which is basically just the never ending problem of fandom spaces being a toxic swamp of I'm Better Than You.I wrote that post while half asleep, and I'm writing this on mobile still exhausted after just getting to work, so I have no idea if it really makes sense or got my point across coherently, but I tried.
