Like donât get me wrong, iâm not a fan of the media pitting women against each other, and I  love seeing women uplift and support each other, ESPECIALLY if they have a wide audience with which to lead by example, HOWEVERâŠ. what happened here was Nicki mentioned how many award shows are handing out awards to artists who put in half the effort and are white, as opposed to artists with amazing work who are black, especially when it comes to genres like hip hop and rap (see Macklemore, Iggy, and Eminem for examples).Â
Now this was weeks ago, and at the time Taylor Swift said some fuckery, and Nicki reacted but wasnât even mean about it, and Taylor apologized and they worked shit out. It was cool. Now WEEKS later Miley is flying in out of nowhere, since sheâs been irrelevant for a while now, and comes after Nicki, tone policing her, and essentially saying âIâm not going to listen to you talk about racism in the music industry because you sound angry and thatâs not nice.â
This is especially rich coming from a white girl who uses black women as props, and even more recently (including tonight at the awards show) is appropriating culture by wearing âlocsâ in her hair. She continues to use AAVE and is dismissive and silencing garbage, so Iâm not at all surprised she pulled her attitude again tonight.
So, when I cheer for Nicki Minaj speaking up, and being very clear and vocal about her not standing for Mileyâs silencing tactics, itâs not because I love seeing women fight each other because THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE HIGHLANDER!, itâs because Nicki is refusing to let this culture appropriating, discussion-of-racism silencing, dismissive, ignorant piece of garbage talk shit on matters she knows nothing about, all in order to try and get a leg up on Nicki. She would NEVER have pulled this shit on a white artist⊠and so Iâm glad to see that Nicki isnât standing for it.Â
Thereâs a big difference between âwomen shouldnât fight, we should all uplift each other!â, and âa white woman is trying to silence a black woman on issues of racism, and no one is here for it". This isnât an argument over who wore it better, this is a matter with so much more weight and meaning. People demanding kindness and delicacy from Nicki all so we can avoid the âtwo women fightingâ issue are ignoring that women are still people and have a right to not only defend themselves, but to stand up for what they believe in, especially in matters of oppression. No amount of âcanât we all get alongâ is going to stop Miley from being a racist douche, and itâs clear that Nicki is done being silent on the matter.
Beautiful.
Holy crap so I just thought of this?? Amortentia smells like the things you love most, right? So if Voldemort is incapable of love, would that potion just have no scent to him? Thatâs so sad??

âIf white people are so privileged why is there a Black Entertainment Network and no White Entertainment Network?â
âMen donât have privilege, there are womenâs only gyms!â
âWhy isnât there a campus centre for straight/cis people!?â

Dear white people: Stop saying âALL lives matterâ whenever you see #BlackLivesMatter
From Vox.Com: Imagine that youâre sitting down to dinner with your family, and while everyone else gets a serving of the meal, you donât get any. So you say âI should get my fair share.â And as a direct response to this, your dad corrects you, saying, âeveryone should get their fair share.â Now, thatâs a wonderful sentiment â indeed, everyone should, and that was kinda your point in the first place: that you should be a part of everyone, and you should get your fair share also. However, dadâs smart-ass comment just dismissed you and didnât solve the problem that you still havenât gotten any!
Tbqh, Iâm tiring of all the analogies to explain what black people have been saying forever, and explaining what should be patently obvious, but this is as good an analogy as any other Iâve seen

You canât connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.
