AU's and OOC
Quick rant. I think people put too much care on characters being ooc, (Out of character). And I think if thats what you really care about then the story is probably lacking, and yes keep in mind these people are reading an amateur writers work, who is doing this for fun, and as a hobby. Obviously, if you dont like a work having character's being ooc, then dont read it. However I would like you to approach with grace and perhaps give the story more curiosity. What I am saying is perhaps this is a character study for the writer or the story has some past or an event that changes that character's personality/mindset majorly. I also want to add AU's. AU's will have the character's in completely different time periods, environments, or perhaps divergent from canon. These are all factors for why character's may be ooc from canon. Perhaps the author wants a character to be a antagonist, or this story is more action packed, requiring that character to get off their butt. Also let's not forget any backstory or past that the author will work off of. These are all justifications for why a reader should read that ooc fic and maybe they will find something they like. Even though we all know that we usually pick up a fic because we like those characters and how they currently act. A story that may be your next favorite is just around the corner it only requires a bit of curiosity.
