As someone who is genderfae (microlabel under genderfluid), I have a lot of different experiences with gender.

I just wish someone told me sooner that it won't go like "today I'm a girl" "today I'm an enby" but more like ,,, "today I am a swamp witch" "today I am a feminine victorian vampire boy" "today I am a forest goblin collecting people's stares about my gender expression like shiny rocks on the ground" "today I'm an androgynous pirate lady"

Like,,, sure, are those real genders? I don't fucking now. If a cisgender person asked me what I identify as that day, would I answer like that? No, definitely not.

But to my genderqueer, trans and genderfluid friends; do you get me? I can't be alone with this, right?

Arguments against trans men lesbians and "showing how nonsensically it is" by telling of examples always backfire for me because it will always be stuff that's actually possible. "Oh you're a trans man lesbian? Right and I'm a trans man... who's a cisgender man! See how that doesn't make sense!" No brad, that actually does make sense if you cared to listen to other people. Cause Cistrans is a thing! Intersex people are a thing! And even perisex Cistrans men are valid! "Oh so why aren't there gay trans women?" THEY EXIST!!! Literally anything you come up with EXISTS!!!

Sometimes aromanticism isn't "that thing is romantic and I am aromantic therefore I don't do that" it can be but in my case since I am aromantic, nothing I do will ever be romantic because I don't feel that way. Is kissing on the lips romantic? Not when I do it.

They looked to be around nine years old and had various pride flag colored bead bracelets all up and down both arms, a backwards baseball cap, and a fox tail clipped to the back of their jeans. I find it comical how I started learning about contradictory labels and the contradictory labels themselves weren't what confused me

What confused me was that they are called "contradictory labels" because every explanation of contradictory labels I have seen isn't contradictory, it's complex

Reframing contradictory labels in my head and making them a synonym of "complex labels" has helped me immensely in finding comfort in them as well

QUEER LABELS VALIDITY & REQUIREMENTS MASTERPOST

have you ever wondered "is it okay for me to call myself this label?" "can i identify as [this] if im also [that]?" "is this identity valid?" or various similar sentiments?

well look no further! this post is compiling a list of specifications for different identities along with why you can or cant use certain labels along with other ones, so youll be able to make an informed decision on choosing your labels! (and not call yourself something thats very problematic and harmful to other queers)

other people can offer their perspectives from their own experiences if you want to hear them to try to figure out what you relate to, but no identity has a universal experience! no one can tell you that you cant identify as something!

no one, i repeat NO ONE, ordains the details of queer labels and who can or cant identify as what, or if a label can be used at all or not! not even if they are of the identity theyre trying to enforce rules on!

just because some rando may walk up to the gate of a public park and begin trying to control who can or cant enter doesnt mean its their property!

go, be free and queer, even with the most complex and weird and confusing labels! nothing can tie you down! (unless youre into that)

If the people in a relationship say it's platonic, then it's platonic, regardless of your preconceived notions about commitment, cohabitation, gender, sex or other physical intimacy, and anything else you associate with a strict position on a romantic/platonic binary. Likewise, if the people in a relationship say it's romantic, then it's romantic, again regardless of your preconceived notions about commitment, cohabitation, gender, sex or other physical intimacy, and anything else you associate with a strict position on a romantic/platonic binary. Friends can have sex and/or live together, and romantic partners don't need to. People can also do either of those things or neither without placing themselves in a platonic-romantic binary.

Platonic and romantic relationships (as well as, frankly, sex itself, if you take a look at the way sex has been typically defined in such a cisheteronormative way) are way too socially constructed for your stereotypes to overrule the actual intent and self-understanding of the people those relationships most matter to.
