I feel like yapping today so, here we go I guess, since this little man here invaded my brain since I watched Rebuild the Galaxy
I don't know why but I really like Jedi Bob (or should I say Bobarin Afol) his design alone is really simple and nice but also the way he was written fascinate me.
He Is not like the usual mentor figure that act nice to his student, because there Is a lot more going on. Jedi Bob messed up big time twice, and he was "punished" for It. In season 1 we discover that he caused the first rewrite of the universe (that then created the Star Wars universe) by touching something he wasnt sopposed to touch. Doing so made him to be the only "survivor" of the old universe, and only HE to remember how It really was.
When Sig accidentally did the same thing, Bob will tell him he messed up greatly, and act a bit rude about It. Yet he later says sorry about saying that, and explain that he has been "very lonely and alone" for a long time so he's not used to people anymore.
when Sig asked Bob if returning the artifact to the temple would fix everything, Bob lie about and say "yes"
Bob isn't happy about lying.
but this wasnt done only to make Sig to do that, but to avoid to break his heart
because Bob know how horrible It Is, since he went trought the same thing.
Another thing that happen in season 1 is when Sig discover that his universe was like "created" by Jedi Bob when he accidentally rewrited his universe
Imagine what kind of hell Bob went trough, with the passing on time he probably thought more than once if his universe existed at all or if he only imagined It, since he is the only one remembering about it. So when he heard Sig having this same doubt, he immediatly reassured him.
Then there's what happened to Bob's old master. In season 2 we discover that Bob exiled Solitus in Force Hold because Solitus was becoming evil and power hungry. And even if Solitus wanted to share that power with him, Bob still went on and "betrayed" Solitus.
So it's kind of implied that Bob always had this view of "you are either good or evil, no between". This did bite him back later.
Toward the end of season Sig managed to show to Bob that there is still hope for redemption for the people we care about, because Sig managed to "save" Dev. So right after that, Bob say sorry to Solitus for exiling him and offer a chance for redemption. But Solitus still refuse. Even so it feel like a good closure for Bob's arc because at the end he probably always felt like he made the wrong choice, and tried to hide it by being firm about his opinion that "all sith are super evil, there is no way to save them"
While Bob with Dev was like "he's evil! there's no good left in him, he will betray you!", Sig still insisted "no, there's still hope" and near the end of the series we see Sig was right, there was still good in Dev.
At the end Bob apologize to Dev for acting like a jerk to him and offer to be his teacher.
So yeah, I really like this little man because he act grumpy but he's actually a sweetheart, and despite being "super old" he's still whimsy and capable to learn from his mistakes and admit when he's wrong
