I really like this panel because of how well it mirrors the first panel of Bilbo at the start of the chapter. I actually pulled that page out to reference when I drew this page, because I like the repetition of Bilbo always waking up from his dreams with the Ring facing away from the viewer. Adds some mystery to whether he can remember anything from the dream~

Also very happy with the dying coals~ Not great, but it's my first time painting that so I'm happy with how it turned out!

The fire turned out more abstract this time, but the cake looks pretty cool! What would a laugh cake even look like I ask you? What flavor might it be? I added blueberries or mulberries because I wasn't sure! What flavor would your laugh cake be?

Started experimenting with the backgrounds! This panel is sort of in Bilbo's imagination so I didn't feel like grounding it with an actual setting~ That's why Thorin looks so weird by the way- Bilbo can't imagine Thorin looking truly contrite and NEITHER CAN I!

The drunken singing is my favorite part! It was so hard painting everything in firelight and I don't think it came out quite right, but messing with the fonts and bubbles was a lot of fun!

GUESS WHO'S HAD NINE PAGES DONE FOR MONTHS AND FORGOT TO POST ANYTHING????

So, starting this up again because I genuinely forgot to post them, but people finding old pages and reblogging them reminded me that the chapter wasn't finished! Ooops... I also have five pages left to paint, so hopefully I'll be able to do those. Maybe I'll figure out how to get a camera set up to stream it? Cause that's what I've been doing recently- streaming art. But the desk setup I have is way too small for these comic pages so... I'll think about it.
