It's the fact that Twin Peaks and Banana Fish are not a fictional vessel for tragic plotlines to just disturb the watchers with its shock value; real life is exactly like this, children getting abused and used by grownups.

To be honest, I thought I would never read something like this, but I was in a subreddit lashing out at the people about Ash and Laura's situation, and someone had the audacity to say that her situation was even better because the abuse she endured was happening long after Ash (at 12) and was not committed utilizing force brute/extreme violence (cause Laura was sleeping and thought it was a dream). She was raped and no details can erase that, and later got used by grown men for their pleasure; they're literally abusing a girl trough addiction and permitting her to work as a prostitute just because they want to fuck her or get money. And people insist that Laura was not trafficked and that her situation was not similar to Ash.

Stop defining abuse through levels of violence like they can be worse and better than the other; you're just taking whatever disgusting thing happened to someone like it was a mere detail without ignoring their pain. I hope I don't have to see any comments about that in the future, it was truly twisted.

Laura Palmer and Ash Lynx were simple pawns in a mastermind's game, used to only just satisfy and bring joy while suffering. Their end was no better from the deaths they received (Unfortunately). I love them, so, so, so much.

okay so i might think about my own private idaho so much that it bleeds into every area of my life and i'm just imagining this coincidence. BUT i came across this album today (stoned & dethroned by the mary and jesus chain) and immediately the road imagery as well as general stylisation reminded me so so much of mopi... i mean...

anyways i'd listened to one of their albums before so i decided to check this out as well because i enjoyed the first and OH. literally when i tell you every. single. song. matches. mopi?? okay not so much in terms of mentioning place-specific details or anything but in terms of feeling and if you imagine it to be mike to scott. word for word, every single song, every single lyric pretty much.

AND. this album was released on 23 august 1994. the date that would have been river's 24th birthday. no genuinely what you cannot tell me think isn't linked in some way ???

anyways to conclude this rant! i'm beyond happy that i found this album because it's the perfect thing to play when i want to think about mopi 🥹 i've kind of overplayed the playlist i made a while back and this was such a pleasant listen (i'll definitely have to revisit it a bit to develop a full opinion on the music itself though but i really enjoyed it)
