When youâre transitioning from Purim to Pesach:
anyone else remember being like 13 years old and watching that scene in how to train your dragon (2010) where hiccup carefully navigates the maze of lines toothless has drawn between them without breaking or stepping on any of them and with his back to toothless and eyes shut to demonstrate how heâs willing to put total faith in him not to harm him or run away and to show humility and a desire to establish a natural bond of mutual trust instead of the arrogance to try to force toothless to submit to his will and hearing the music crescendo and fade into silence as he finally crosses the last obstacle so that theyâre standing mere inches from one another, tension built on years of bad blood between their two races, so immense itâs almost like a physical barrier, separating them, and after what feels like forever toothless presses his nose gently into hiccupâs outstretched palm and it fits perfectly like it was made solely for that specific purpose, and feeling all the hairs on your neck stand up and a stifling sensation that brought actual tears to your eyes rise in your throat as it touched something profound and full of unspeakable yearning inside you
You just want a dragon
Well of course I want a fucking dragon
I hate it when people ask âdo you trust meâ like âŠdonât call me out like that âŠâŠ..the answer is no
Incredibles 2 (2018) dir. Brad Bird
Incredibles 2 did not have to go this hard but it did
They really just went and DID THAT

the guardian wrote an article shaming sia for âexploiting maddie zieglerâ and honestly⊠weâre not doing this ok. weâre not gonna do this to a woman who writes and gives us nothing but bops and bangers
Um, no you werenât born bisexual, you chose to watch Pirates of the Caribbean when you were 13 and fell in love with both Keira Knightly and Orlando Bloom.Â
when people are like âthe hunger games just stole the plot of battle royaleâ like listen everything steals from the plot of everything the lion king is just furry hamlet westworld is jurassic park but sexier lost is edgy gilliganâs island there are no original stories and the only good piece of media is jenniferâs body
The thing I hate most about depression is that it tricks you into thinking you donât have depression. It makes you think that nothing is wrong with you, that you just feel this way because you lack value as a person. Whether thatâs in your relationships, your academics, or a view of yourself, it makes you think you arenât good enough for any of that.
âItâs not the illness,â it says, âYou feel this way because itâs who you are.â
âMental illness is like fighting a war where the enemyâs strategy is to convince you that the war isnât actually happening.â
Me: I canât get out of bed today, what is wrong with me. Iâm so lazy and terrible and I am a huge flake and there has got to be something wrong with me. My brain: There is no war in Ba Sing Se.
Remember in 1993 when Jurassic Park was likeâŠthe end all, be all of special effects?
not gonna lie that still looks intimately real
Iâm still somewhat convinced that someone sold their soul to create the special effects in Jurassic Park because that shit is over 20 years old and it still really, really holds up, better than the stuff in a lot of current movies, even.
Fucking witchcraft, man.Â
fucking look at this shit though
Literally see this post flying around with a few different responses added to the bottom each time so Iâll say it for this one myself:
THEY ACTUALLY BUILT A GIANT MASSIVELY DETAILED FUCKING ANIMATRONIC T-REX FOR ALL OF THIS THATâS WHY THE EFFECTS ARE SO GOOD. CAUSE IT AINâT CGI. AND IT AINâT GUY IN A COSTUME. ITâS A BIG FUCKING ROBOT DINOSAUR. AND EVERY PART IS DESIGNED TO MOVE. IT COST LIKE HALF THE BUDGET OF THE FILM.
amazing
And they had the film it in small increments, especially in the outdoor scenes, because the rain fall kept soaking into the âskinâ of the rex and would slow down and mess up its movements. So they would stop filming and have a crew out there drying off this massive, fake dinosaur, and then theyâd start filming again until it was too wet. Repeat until the end of the scene.
They used animatronics and detailed costumes for most if not all of the dinosaurs in the first movie.
The triceratops for instance, was also animatronic.
And the raptors were dudes in suits. I shit you not.
One of my favorite anecdotes Iâve read on tumblr is how the t-rex robot from Jurassic park would malfunction while it was drying out. How did it malfunction, you might wonder?
Motherfucker randomly started moving.
So apparently if you were on the jp set you would sometimes hear people screaming bloody murder even though they were all well aware that it was a giant animatronic puppet and wouldnât actually, you know, eat them.
(link to said post about malfunctioning t-rex)
Did not know this, had to reblog for awesome movie history insights.
So, I knew about the animatronics bit but I did not know the raptors were guys in suits and the malfunctioning t-rex sounds terrifying.
And i just googled malfunctioning t-rex and was not disappointed. Apparently in order to put the skin on over the steel frame a guy had to crawl inside the t-rex while it was turned on and glue the skin down. And if somebody turned the t-rex off or the power went out the guy in the t-rex stood a very real chance of getting mangled and killed by the hydraulics.
So of course, the power goes out.
And this guy is still in there gluing the skin down.
Apparently the way to survive getting sheered to death by huge sheets of metal while youâre inside a giant t-rex robot is to curl into a ball and hope for the best.
And this guy hoped for the best and got it.
Some other people on stage pried open the t-rex jaws and glue guy crawled out of its mouth and was totally okay.
This is getting better and better.
I think they only had like 6 minutes of CGI
Iâm just waiting for the T-Rex to come to life and leave its stand.
@spinosaurus-the-fisher is this the kind of content you love?
Realism comes at a cost, it seems.
i mean ok but why has nobody posted this:
Itâs a three piece raptor suit.
Old movies had the best special effects
The thing about this that gets my special effects nerd going is the fact that EVERY single dinosaur was sculpted by artists based on the current existent archeological evidence of the time.

Even better than that, this movie ADVANCED our best understanding of dinosaurs at the time. Â They were blowing out a budget bigger than anything Hollywood had ever seen, and along with employing almost the last hurrah of incredible physical FX, they had a bank of those newfangled digital SFX computers. Â Nobodyâd ever really created convincing dinosaurs in a movie before. Â Itâd all been stop-motion animation, and even when the models were exquisitely crafted, you could just tell there was something OFF about them. Â Spielberg wanted THE BEST DINOSAURS EVER, and he figured on using the cutting edge of digital modeling and animation technology to build them for him.
So they got hold of some of the best paleontologists they could find and said, âWe want you guys to take this tech that your labs could pretty much never afford and use it to build us the most realistic, accurate dinosaur models the world has ever seen.â
The paleontologists knew an opportunity when it bit them in the ass.  They plugged in everything they knew about dinosaurs, all the skeletons and their best guesses about soft tissue and all that.  And when theyâd created those dinosaur models, they had the computer start moving them as they realistically would with anatomy like that.  One guy took a look at those walking t-rexes and velociraptors (really utahraptors, but whatevs, fam), and he said, âWait a minute, Iâve seen movement like that before.â
He called up film of a chicken walking.  Everyone in the room said, âHoly shit.â
Prior to 1989, the idea that birds were descended from dinosaurs existedâwe knew about archaeopteryx, we knew there was some minor connection thereâbut the idea that DINOSAURS LIVE IN THE MODERN WORLD AND THEY ARE CALLED BIRDS was not pre-eminent. Â Jurassic Park changed our scientific understanding of dinosaurs.
That paleontologistsâd be Kevin Padian. Who is awesome.

Y'all check on your law school friends. The bar is soon they are not okay
Evidence: my husband forgot what day it was last week and I received a text that said âwhy the fuck did no one tell me it was Friday?â
T minus 6 days until the bar and my husband just walked in a circle around the house for 15 minutes yesterday saying âI do not know the thingsâ and âstop. Stop dying. Wills are too confusing everyone stop dying"
Update : â everyone just fucking stop owning things. property is stupid and no one understands it. just stop. move to the woods. be free. â
Radicalizing yourself by becoming a lawyer isnât the most intuitive path, but go you, dude.
well.
brooklyn nine nine is really good to us when it comes to friendships, because every character has such unique friendships and bonding scenes with the others but i dont think we talk about rosas and charles friendship enough because damn:
- we start the show with charles being heads over heels for rosa, who is clearly not interested
- rosa tells him, very clearly, that she thinks hes sweet and really likes him as a friend but shes not interested in dating him
- it takes charles some time to get over her, but he does!! apologizes for being weird and making her uncomfortable!! and they go on having an incredibly strong and close friendship!!
- at one point charles even takes a bullet for her, which could have led to the whole âjust give him a chanceâ trope but nope b99 doesnt do that bs, they talk it out and they never end up together
- they are so close that charles even helps rosas bf to plan for her birthday because he knows her so well!! she loves it!!
- rosa asks charles to be her bridesmaid because they are so close and she knows charles would love that!! he does!!
- charles plans her the best bachelorette party and rosa absolutely loves it!! she gets so excited she literally lifts charles up from the floor??
- sometimes between working cases they go to have foot massages together?? that was so cute??
- charles helps rosa text her boyfriend?? because shes not that great at pickup lines?? how cute??
- the writers could have easily opted to go with the âless attractive man falls for his way hotter coworker whos not interested but ends up giving him a chance because he is nice (and wont stop pestering her)â trope but instead we got this beautiful beautiful brotp

thank you nine nine
I would like to add to this now because:
- Charles was the first person Rosa came out to as bisexual (at least the first at work and also before her parents)
